My son works on a lake. His i-phone fell out of his shirt pocket and into the large lake.
About 3 weeks later he and a friend went to the general area with an underwater metal detector and they found it. So it is possible.

I feel the same unfortunately. Finding her phone doesn't necessarily mean they are closer to finding Michelle. Not trying to sound pessimistic, but to me this is bad news as most people would never be separated from their phone. I really hope that this phone will somehow help them find the person who did this.

Yeah, I think we feel on a high, kind of, because it is the first bit of progress we've heard in so long. But then you soon come back to earth and realize Michelle is still missing.
