On Thursday, March 6th, a witness contacted police and said they had information about a possible kidnapping and homicide involving a missing teen.

Detectives learned that 16-year-old Miranda Corsette was lured through a social media app to meet 35-year-old Steven Gress on Valentine’s Day.
A missing 16-year-old girl from Florida was killed and dismembered after meeting a man on...

After meeting him, she went home and then the next day she returned to his home. Miranda remained with Gress and his girlfriend, 37-year-old Michelle Brandes at the home.
Steven Gress and Michelle Brandes are accused of killing and dismembering 16-year-old Miranda...

"Please, please I'm begging you. Please make sure you know what your kids are doing on social media and to the kids also if someone is contacting you and they're not a family member, please let your parents know," said Chief Anthony Holloway.

"On the 20th at the house, there was some sort of dispute over some missing jewelry, so from the 20th to the 24th she was beaten, tortured because they could not find this piece of jewelry," said Chief Holloway.

According to St. Pete Police, after the death, Gress put the teen's body in a car and drove to a house on the 12200 block of Mallory Drive in Largo. Detectives said evidence at that Largo home led them to believe the teen was dismembered.

After the dismemberment, police said the teen's body was taken to a dumpster on the 2800 block of 14th Avenue SE in Ruskin. Detectives said they have located the dumpster and are working to find her remains.

"Her body is somewhere possibly in a landfill somewhere in that county," said Chief Holloway.

Corsette, who was homeschooled and lived with her grandmother because both of her parents are deceased, was reported missing to Gulfport police on Feb. 24. Police say Corsette was also the mother to an 11-month-old baby.

"We are very familiar with Miranda," said Commander Mary Farrand, the acting police chief for the city of Gulfport. "She is a frequent runaway and she has a history of mental health issues as well as drug abuse. The grandmother is her primary caregiver at this time. She said she normally comes home, so she doesn’t report her missing every time she leaves. She just didn’t come back in a timely manner this time."

I don't even know what to say, this poor girl. And to have left a baby behind. Tragic.

What a terrible life that girl had, regardless of how her parents died or how she got pregnant. RIP.

And now Great Grandma is probably trying to raise a baby. Goodness this is awful and sad.

Prayers for those who loved Miranda, and prayers for the little one she left behind with Miranda's grandmother.
Hoping for justice for Miranda.
Also hoping for justice for those who killed her.
This is some tuff stuff.

Wow. This is right where I grew up and where my mom grew up as a kid.

Gulfport had a bad drug problem when I had friends living there, doesn’t seem to have changed.

I’m seeing a lot of immediate blame being thrown her grandmother’s way; I think it’s important people remember that expecting a grandmother to be on top of her granddaughter’s social media is a bit unrealistic IMO. My mother is 58 and struggles with very basic functions of her phone, to the point where she’ll have to ask me or my sister for help sometimes.

Miranda had substance abuse issues and was a repeat runaway, IDT it’s unreasonable to assume Grandma was overwhelmed…it’s hard to know where to start when someone you love has so much occurring at once. It’s really a game of whack-a-mole when you’re trying to help someone that’s at that level of crisis. These issues have a way of overlapping and becoming inextricable from one another as time goes on.

I have had several partners and friends die from addiction, one in St.Pete from a fatal fentanyl overdose. The party scene in St.Pete was pretty unforgiving in my 20s, aside from the clubs, bars and beaches, there is a very large undercurrent of large dirty house parties that occur frequently (against my better judgement I attended too many to count, I’ll admit). It easy to get sucked in because the locale is abundant with lowlifes like these two that killed Miranda.

I pray her body is found ASAP. Her poor 11 month old baby 💔

Wow, that's a lot to unpack. What a short, tragic life she appears to have lead, and incredibly sad all round.

My goodness, she looked about 12.

Horrifying. May justice be swift.

Sounds like the poor girl never had much of a chance in life. I hope that she is finally at peace now. Prayers for the little one she left behind, who will never know her mother.

If Miranda OD'd and someone(s) dumped her , they can still be charged.
Sorry for the grandma and esp. the baby. :(
What a sad life for Miranda, I wish she'd been able to escape her demons.
Imo.

Quoting my post to say I was also reading another case and became mixed up with another lady who vanished under sus. circumstances.

Miranda was most definitely murdered and I hope to god the dismembering happened after she was dead.
It hardly bears thinking about !
Hope the perps get the book thrown at them .
Evil beyond belief.
Omo.

Poor young girl, circumstances of life ment she never stood a fair chance.

I’m curious how they caught the suspects so quickly? I would assume internet history, but could they find that information that fast?

This house he took her body too, I’m curious if this was the suspects home, or another location?
