This whole case makes me sooo angry.

Especially reading about Creep walking into women's apartments and being found on their sofas!

It is frustrating. Recently I had a similar experience, and reported it...I was treated like a deranged, hysterical female, out to get a "nice" guy fired and in trouble! For legitimately reporting stalking, creepy behavior...so, reporting any type of creepy, stalking makes you a "Karen".

There is a problem in our society where women are guilt tripped and judged for reporting males acting inappropriately.

Even if you report, there is little guarantee anything will come of it - except something that is on record. I had a friend try to get a restraining order against an abusive boyfriend, only to have him completely deny it in front of the judge and nothing come out of it. It sounds like she did let family know about what was going on.

Rather than place the responsibility on the victim in this case - what is being done to prevent things like this from happening? Where is the culpability of a culture that encourages men to ignore boundaries and feel entitled to romantic partners? Where is the awareness for monitoring for such behaviors and for encouraging mental health access to rehabilitate?

It's frustrating that this is something that still has to be explained...

Thank you. I’m a big missing persons/true crime junkie. I’ve always heard of this site but I felt compelled to give my input with this case. I basically found his whole family & old classmates, teammates coworkers… no one is acknowledging him. Yet, his Facebook has already been commemorated… I wonder who did that
Wow. Interesting… maybe he did?
Well I can’t blame his family for not acknowledging him at this time. Trying to reason with this must be so awful.

Arden Villas apartments release a statement after disappearance of Miya Marcano. This is where she lived and worked and where deputies say a maintenance worker, Armando Caballero, was a person of interest in the case.
@news6wkmg

A guard has been stationed at the front gate to record all comings and goings of guests and residents and maintenance is now operating on an appointment-only basis, according to the statement.

According to the statement, all new hires are vetted through a national background check service, and during onboarding, they are required to go through sexual harassment deterrence training.

I hope anyone reading here is calling in your tips to Orange County sheriffs office - especially if you suspect where she may have been held.

on a personal note - ordered ring cameras for my single relatives since we now know maintenance employees may have the master key for their apartments. Sigh ..

Should ALSO have a separate latch on the inside that is not accessible from the outside, to keep EVERYONE out when they are IN.

PLEASE be careful. My stalker lives 4apts down the hall from me. He’s assaulted me. He’s currently in jail on a misdemeanor (I’m not sure what because it wasn’t from me), but will be back the second he makes bond or is released. PLEASE keep a detailed stalker log. Put the day, time of day, and every single little detail. When you have that, it lends more believability to your claim in a judge’s eyes. I just typed it into the notes on my phone, then with every new entry, I’d email a copy to my email and to a friend’s email. That way, if you lose/damage your phone, you still have the log in your email. The 2nd person is in case something happens to you that you are unable to advocate for yourself, then that person can do so for you. It’s terrifying. Stalking laws are trash where I live. I’m blind, so I don’t have a gun. I have a taser instead. I also bought a whistle to wear when I take my dog out. If nothing else, I can blow that whistle and someone will come. Just please be safe.

I need all the money. I'd spend it all traveling around looking for missing people and saving animals. I really with I could be a part of this search party. Sending positive vibes to the family and friends on this day and hoping they bring her home. Preferably safe but I think we all know this isn't going to end well at all.

This should have already been in place, imho.

What kind of time frame are we looking at here? I wish we knew what time he actually left her apt Friday. He was at his old/current place of residence Saturday morning. How many hours does he have to drive around and find a place to put her? Do we know if he has any parks or places he likes to go that are away from public eye? He might take her somewhere he is familiar with. I wish we had times so that we could figure out a radius from her apt to look for her.

I wonder if OCSO has his phone or if they've been searching the data on the car somehow thru GPS?

What we know about Miya Marcano’s disappearance
snipped
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

On Tuesday, law enforcement fanned out across multiple apartment complexes in Orange and Seminole County in search of Miya Marcano. The 19-year-old who lives and works near UCF has not been seen since Friday. Here’s what we know:

1. Where & when Miya was last seen

Miya Marcano was last seen leaving work around 4:30 p.m. on Friday according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. She worked at Arden Villas and also lived there. Her family said she had a flight booked on Friday night to Fort Lauderdale, but she never made it onto the plane.

2. What Miya was last seen wearing

On Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office released an updated missing flyer showing a red “Preiss Co.” shirt that Miya was wearing when she was last seen on Friday. Law enforcement said she also had on jeans and a black hoodie before she disappeared.

3. Who is the person of interest in her case

.....
4. What we know about Armando Caballero

Sheriff Mina said the maintenance master key fob that Caballero used was swiped to enter Miya’s apartment around 4 p.m. on Friday. That is 30 minute before she was set to get off of work.

The sheriff said Caballero does not have a lengthy criminal history and mentioned a former burglary charge in Polk County.

.....

5. Person of interest spotted on cell phone video

Miya Marcano’s aunt, Semone Westmaas, said she ran into Armando Caballero on Saturday. That is the same day that cell phone video was shot that appears to show him in an apartment complex parking lot. It was two days before he apparently killed himself.

“He was trying to leave. His lights was off. He said, ‘Are you looking for Miya?’ I said, ‘Who are you?’ He said, ‘I’m the maintenance guy. I heard you’re looking for me,’” said Westmaas. “I didn’t know who this guy was at the time.”

So now we know she left work at 4:30 - so when was he seen Friday evening? I am thinking he stayed in her apartment until night came (which is getting darker now earlier) and then carried her out in her blanket ? Where did he go? I hope they can find out from his cell phone/car....

To me that would be one of the first things to check. Not sure how long it takes to get a warrant for that and then actually get the info. Checking around her apt complex and the one he was found at is the obvious choices of where to start but then where to? Need that info ASAP.

I am thinking the same thing - that he left with her late.
It seems like he was on shift that day so I wonder what time he was on and off.
I can’t imagine the thoughts her loved ones are having.

Whatever they find, if anything, on his phone or GPS is going to be key here. Unless they have all this info and just have not released a thing yet?
