One of the posters on that link says there were signs of a struggle in her apartment and they have reason to believe "she was taken".

Ugh this must be terrifying for her family. Hoping for a good outcome...

I was wondering about her apartment and if she had roommates .. this is not good at all

The apartment reviews are pretty good with the normal complaints about time for maintenance, etc. Also complaints about parking, but those answered as that should subside as soon as school move ins are completed (the apartment FAQs mention you have to pay for reserved parking, so I imagine there are plenty of students who don't want to do that). There are some complaints about obnoxious bar patrons out front from nearby bars. I also read one complaint about the gate being half opened one night and the person had to leave their vehicle and walk in, so I don't know if that means the reserved parking is gated.

In 2015 there was an attempted rape there:

The Orange County Sheriff's Office released a sketch late Saturday afternoon depicting a man who they say tried to rape a University of Central Florida student at an off-campus apartment complex.

The attack happened around 3 a.m. Saturday at the Arden Villas Apartments on University Boulevard, which is just down the street from the UCF campus, deputies said.

Investigators said as the female student was approaching her door, the man pushed her into her apartment and tried to sexually assault her.

"It's terrifying," said UCF student Brittany Rainone. "We usually don't carry Mace with us, but now we are definitely going to."

The student managed to fight the man off, but before he left the complex he exposed himself to her, deputies said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office brought in K-9s and a helicopter to search for the attacker, but to no avail.

Rainone said a lot of students walk back from the nearby bars around the time of the attack.

"That's kind of scary. You don't think about that when you're going out and coming home," she said.

The attack comes one day after the Orange County Sheriff's Office and UCF Police Department announced a joint operation to crack down on violent crime near campus.

Investigators say Marcano lives on the complex, and the apartment’s social media shows she also works at the leasing office.

Channel 9 spoke with the family on Sunday who said they’ve been asked by law enforcement not speak to media because it’s an ongoing investigation.

However, Marcano’s dad did share a picture of her on social media stating “this was the shirt she was wearing when she was last seen — there were signs of struggle in her apartment — and she may be in danger”

I see that they are searching the wooded area. I identified that area early on. But then I learned two things. There's a fence, and it appears that someone was in her apartment. I don't think we're talking about someone just grabbing a woman and dragging her into the woods. Also, a lot of creeps would get what they wanted and leave. So why take her? That's a big risk. Hopefully, the cameras caught something. I bet there are eyewitnesses, too. That's a busy area, and that was a busy time.

Not looking good, this is so scary... I live 15-20 minutes from UCF. My husband and I just ate at the Irish 31 Pub yesterday right around the corner from where this happened. College campus areas are prime areas for predators/criminals. I am praying for this young girl...

I think it’s also violence built from sexual deviance. Men view the petite woman as a young girl.

Family Travels From Fort Lauderdale in Search for Woman Missing Since Friday

Marcano's family has been spreading flyers out across town, desperate to find her. They joined together over the weekend to light candles in her honor.

"All we ask of you is help us bring Miya home," her grandmother told FOX 35.

"Bring her home safe. Drop her off, let us know where she is, we will pick her up, just bring her home," her neighbor added.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Monday that Marcano is a student at Valencia College.

'struggle in the apartment' IMO lends itself to someone she may have known to let in. I wonder if the doors have those 'peepholes' to look out when someone is at your door, or did someone follow her in . I would think that she works for leasing she would be very familiar with rules and would not let someone in she did not know if they did not have a key card. She is so tiny, and i'm sorry to think she could be rendered unconscious and easily moved in something so to hide her. JMO.

Hmm now there's a thought. The suitcase she more than likely had packed ready for her trip to see Mum and Dad.

Marcano's father on Sunday posted on his Instagram page an impassioned plea addressed directly to his daughter: 'Mimi, my heart is aching. I haven’t slept or eaten in days. Where are you baby??? Your whole family is here looking for you. We will not stop until you’re back home. I’m slowly losing my mind over here. Never have we ever gone so long without even a text message to each other.
