I am concerned that he might not have been working alone. I cant imagine how he pulled her through the window and into the car without anyone hearing or seeing.

How did he get out of her apt with her? What was the time frame? 5 Pm to some time around 8:00/8:30 PM right? His phone pinged in another location around 8ish? Friday night between 5-8 PM at a mostly college student apartment complex? In my mind it would be nearly impossible to move a body, in the daylight, without anyone seeing. How did he manage to pull this off?

I was going to ask why he even went back but that video clears that up. He’s inserting himself in to the investigation. Like suspects are known to do.

I’m thinking checking the master key out is more of a “we know you have the key during this time slot for this purpose” kind of thing - maybe a person might think twice about using it improperly. I’d be very interested to know the master key policies at other properties.
JMO
IMO master key policies are often very lax, usually because it's considered inconvenient to control the key. The more senior employees feel they are too busy to be bothered with controlling access to the master key ie signing it out to someone.

IMO the only way this could have been prevented is if he had not had access to the master key: Miya didn't encourage him, or go anywhere with him , or do anything to compromise her safety, but because he had the master key, she was helpless to prevent this.

It's very difficult for young women to complain about men who have an unwanted crush on them. It's usually considered a compliment. I remember when I was young, there was some very creepy behaviour that I didn't feel I could bring to anyone's attention, I just tried to freeze the person out, not make eye contact, etc. It's something that goes on under the surface in millions of young women's lives, all the time. She may have felt creeped out by him, but his employer wouldn't be able to fire him for that reason.

I do think that organizations have to realize how risky it is to give employees unrestricted access to other people's homes.

I am local to the area, my daughter is a UCF student, and one of her close friends lives at Arden Villas. People in this area (students, parents, apartments, universities) are taking this very seriously. Purchases of security devices (both personal and home safety) have been a common topic of conversation among my daughter's friends and within my parent organizations and friend groups. UCF sent an email outlining their policies and procedures for dorms, campus apartments, etc.

As tragic as Miya's death is, and it IS very tragic, it has led to many precautions being taken in other local apartment complexes and on the UCF campus. Of course one wishes that precautions had already been in place so that this could never have happened. I can only hope that something positive comes from Miya's horrible and senseless murder.

MOO IMO

I totally agree with you.
I do feel that he could have found another way though to get to her IMO but this made it so easy.
Hopefully this tragedy can really lead to someone else not having to go through this nightmare!

This is horrible (and infuriating )!

Miya Marcano's body was found with tape binding her hands and feet and covering her mouth | Daily Mail Online

"The attorney representing the family of the late Miya Marcano confirmed that the 19-year-old's body had been found bound and gagged last Saturday in Florida.

Attorney Daryl Washington said Marcano, a student at the University of Central Florida, was bound with tape around her feet and wrists and that her mouth was covered.

'This guy had tape around Miya's wrists, tape around her feet, had tape on her mouth,' Washington told News 6, referring to lead suspect Armando Caballero, 27. 'When you talk about it, you really get frustrated.' "

"The news come after another woman, 23, claimed Caballero broke her window with a weight after she turned him down for a date and later wrote her a creepy note.

The incident happened at the unnamed woman's apartment complex in Longwood, Florida, the same complex where Caballero was found dead of an apparent suicide shortly after he was named the lead suspect in 19-year-old Miya Marcano's disappearance."

Miya Marcano’s family criticizes investigation, release new details of woman’s death
This is too much y’all… so the police were in her apartment and didn’t find it that suspicious and they also could have detained the suspect? Wow.
But on what evidence? Police can't arrest people, throw them in jail for days, just because someone is missing and the family doesn't like them. There has to be evidence, eg. blood at the scene. The officer likely went looking for evidence: from video cameras, her bank account and phone pings, and did find evidence about use of the master key.

I get that.
It’s a very difficult situation for everyone.

I'm wondering when LE got the information about the POI entering Miya's apt with the master key? Did they talk to him after finding that out? Did they know in that video?

I hope they didn’t know that before the video. From previous articles it sounds like they just talked to him first, as he worked with her, and then later found that out, put the arrest warrant out, and couldn’t locate him then.

I'm just curious about the timeline. She misses her flight. Her parents call LE to do a Welfare check. What time did they show up at her apt to do the check? Do police go in to locked homes for welfare checks? If they see no signs of forced entry or anything suspect, do they still enter the home? Did the LEO ask a property manager to allow him access? Did the property manager check activity for her apt locking mechanism and tell LE that one of their own maintenance men had entered her apt earlier? What was LE thinking during the check? Miya was playing a game of hide and seek? Her apt is a mess and her room is barricaded. None of that seemed suspicious? Lots of questions here.
