They found a dark jacket and no reports of sharks. I think that is about the only new things I heard.

It's so cold here tonight.

Does IR technology work on the water? If they're up in helicopters, would it locate a warm body/head? I'd almost think searching at night would be more effective than the day.

Maybe that's a dumb question; most of my knowledge of IR comes from CSI, lol.

IR is infra-red aka night vision. it works anywhere. You are probably thinking of thermal imaging, which is sort of like heat vision. That works over water. Although a body in cold water would take on the temp of the water fairly quickly.

I'm so sad about this. I just think of these men and my heart goes out to them and their families. I can't imagine what happened to them. I think of sharks I don't know what else. If they had life jackets on - wouldn't they have stayed afloat? I just read something where they are now saying when the boat flipped, none of them had their jackets on but they immediately swam underneath the boat, grabbed the life jackets and put them on. I just can't imagine what happened to these poor men......it makes me so sad.....

Gosh I really was hoping for more good news yesterday. I am haunted by this. I kept thinking about these guys last night wondering if they were still drifting or what :( I can't imagine the pain of their parents/friends/family and loved ones. How SCARY that had to be for that boat to flip!!!!!!!

I'm so glad Nick held on....I can only assume the other 3 were exhausted and lost strength. I read on Foxnews a minute ago that not only did they find a dark jacket, but an orange life jacket as well. Has anyone heard this anywhere else???

Praying for a miracle at this point.....the waters are just too darn cold.

This does not sound good....:(

ST. PETERSBURG - Family members of at least two of the missing boaters are converging on the Coast Guard station in St. Petersburg, and officials there have postponed a previously scheduled press conference.

Just after 3:30, an ambulance arrived at the building and pulled up to the same entrance that the family members had used minutes before.

At 4:08pm Tuesday, from live report on HLN News: USCG spokesman says they will probably suspend search at around 6pm today. His quote: "If they were on the water we would've found them".

Presser in progress. Calling of search. Ambulance for family members as a precaution.

If I were one of their family members, I don't know that I could ever give up finding them.

This makes me so sad :( I understand though, and think they are right. If the guys had been on the boat 12 hours prior to Nick being found they would have pretty good idea where the would be. My heart breaks for their families.

Caught the last part of a news conference/questions from Capt. Close. The search is being suspended at 6:30 p.m. Now I just hope these men can be found for the sake of their families so they can have closure. :frown:

My heart goes out to the families. I can't imagine what they are going through. My heart goes out to Nick, I ican't imagine how he must feel knowing his friends are out there and cannot be found.

My heart is broken for these families and all the loved ones of these young men. I also feel for Nick who will carry this tragedy with him. I hope he will get lots of love and support to heal, both physically and emotionally.

Roxanne, please pass along our prayers for everyone involved and thanksgiving that Nick is alive.

I have been following this case, too, and have been praying that these fellows would all be found safe, waterlogged, but sound. It's so hard to give up hope, so I can only imagine how the families feel. So sad.
