Oh Roxanne, what a fantastic miracle for your family. Now we turn our prayers to the other 3. They are young and very fit, chances of survival I believe are still strong.:praying:

Im watching the live coverage of the coast guard boat searching. Does anyone know if it has some sort of radar or sonar that can detect something near by like a person? If so I wonder how far out it can search.

The CG seems very optimistic since it hasn't been that long..Let's HOPE! they're found very soon!

The others decided to "swim off"..Damn! I wish they had NOT done that! :(

ETA! Now they're saying it may not have been an "intentional" seperation.

Nick was smart to stay put and hang on, but I am sure it was also very difficult to do this. I was taught to stay put but I myself could see that this could be difficult.

Fox news camera guy is ticking me off. Keeps paning back to show the skyway, and the beach, and the back of his helicopter.
Oh now he's gone. lunch break.

My BIL said that Nick is talking to the rescuers....he's being transported to Tampa Hospital.

OMG Roxane I just logged back in and this is the first post I seen..Thank Jesus!
I can't tell you how happy I am that they found your nephew.
Your family will remain in my prayers!

yes, seeing that overturned boat on the news with the tiny waves today - I can't even imagine how he held on with the HUGE waves on Saturday and Sunday. They brought in a 110 foot boat to help search because the conditions were so bad....and he was hanging onto a 21 foot boat. We are so very lucky that Nick survived!!!

It was very cold last night, and they weren't dressed for it. Hypothermia can really manipulate your sense of reality. In that mindset they might have thought making a swim for it seemed logical, no matter how irrational it might seem to us. Being 30 miles out doesn't lend itself to a lot of land masses--those poor guys.

The life vest news is so wonderful. I'm praying so hard right now.

Nick did look good! I just saw a picture of him. It looked like he was wearing a sandal on one foot and a black sock on another--could that be because of exposure?

They found the boat and 1 survivor- not one of the NFL players.
Survivor is alive & talking.

"Everglades boats are built with compressed foam encased in Fiberglas, which makes them difficult or impossible to sink."

Still searching....

The survivor,( Nick), is the nephew of Roxanne, who is a member here at WS. She has been communicating with Nick's dad (her BIL) by phone, and posting on the "Up to the minute" forum.
