Palm Beach, found Feb. 14, 2011 soaked with chemicals in the back of her father’s truck alongside Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County, (Victor (10) injured; had acid thrown on him; he was released from hospital 3/2/11) – *Jorge L. Barahona (43/now 58) “adopted father” arrested (2/12/11), charged (3/7/11), indicted (3/23/11) & arraigned (4/13/11) with 8 felony counts of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm, 8 felon/counts of child neglect & attempted murder (Victor) & charged (3/7/11) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty (1/7/21). $1M bond. DA will seek DP. Miami-Dade
Trial was set to begin on 4/6/20 reset for 6/15/20 & cancelled due to guilty plea on 9/20/20 & now has new attorneys, plead not guilty on 1/7/21.
Trial was set to begin on 3/16/23 continued with no further dates available. Found competent to stand trial 7/23/25.

Plead guilty to 1st degree murder & aggravated child abuse on 3/4/20. Plea deal gives her a life prison sentence in exchange for testimony against her husband. Sentencing will be after she testifies against her husband as agreed.
Trial was set to begin vacated. 2/21/20: Defendant found competent to stand trial.

Well - I have to say - they should have gotten rid of the death penalty a LONG time ago.... too much delays on this one. Will we see the end? I sure HOPE so!!
