Maybe it seemed it was Charles E. Collier as best they could determine, but further testing showed it wasn’t? I know that seems unlikely considering all the DNA advances. Unless the ID was inadvertently assigned to the wrong remains? It will be interesting to learn more.

I bet it was just a mistake. Closed cases have been accidentally added before.

We don't control what happens at NamUs, but the agency confirmed the identity. If there is more information, we will happily post it, however, our guess is that NamUs will update soon.
