I agree. Maybe the family had more info they held back. I noticed the wife posted on FB less than 2 weeks after he disappeared with wording that made it seem like they were convinced they'd never see him again. Maybe it was grief and exhaustion speaking, though. It was along the lines of "while we prepare to continue life without him..." i personally cannot imagine giving up hope that quickly but Lord knows what any of us would do if we were in her situation. It just struck me as odd, or especially sad. Do maybe he left a suicide note or something.

I'm still not finding any updated news, other than what his wife posted on FB. I don't understand; Navarre is not a big town. It's a military and family town. I would think the news would have spread by now but I can find no press or LE updates.

I fully agree. I also noted the wife did not have her wedding ring on anymore as of last weekend. Perhaps she doesn't wear it regularly but it struck me as odd.

Family members of 46-year-old Phillip Wood, who had been missing from Navarre since July 16, announced today that he passed away August 2.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. Rich Aloy confirmed the information this afternoon.

I would "assume" suicide. So sorry for this family. The media will usually not report a suicide out of respect for privacy. I've read the FB posts, and the pain & loss of his wife and family early on lead me to believe they had a good idea this would be the outcome.

A little more info-

Phillip Wood was found deceased last week in Nevada.

According to a report from Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, a detective with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada contacted SRSO to notify the agency that Wood was found deceased Aug. 2.

He was originally from Arizona, according to the report.
