*Felony Sounding Hearing (@ 9am ET) - FL – “Pillowcase Rapist” – 44 victims (May, 1981 to Feb. 1986, Miami to Deerfield Beach) - *Robert Eugene Koehler aka Robert Eugene Koeholer (60/22 @ time of 1st crime) – arrested (1/18/20) & held at Brevard County to await transfer to Miami-Dade County. Charged (1/21/20) & arraigned (2/11/20) with 2 counts of sexual battery with weapon causing serious injuries. Plead not guilty. No bond.
Convicted sex offender for a sexual battery conviction in 1991. Familial DNA hit in CODIS (after his son was arrested).
Trial was set to begin on 4/13/20 moved to 5/26/20 & has been cancelled due to coronavirus & rescheduled on 9/8/20.
1/21/20 Update: Initial appearance before Judge. Koehler's claim that he is not guilty of the crimes was not an official plea entered into the court system. The arrest warrant has one victim & two counts of sexual battery re a 12/28/83 sexual assault which matches evidence of the rape kit. Attorney assigned: Laura Adams. Bond hearing on 1/23/20.
1/23/20 Update: Held without bond. Investigators searched Koehler's home, underneath which they found an excavated area where they believe Koehler was building "a dungeon." Several safes were found, one of which contained jewelry & trinkets authorities believe could be souvenirs from his victims. They also located a metal nail file wrapped in protective covering that DA Adams said could have been used as a weapon in many of the Pillowcase Rapist cases. Lab results also linked him to 24 cases involving sexual assaults some four decades ago, prosecutors reported Thursday. Written plea of not guilty. Demand for Trial by jury. Waived pretrial hearing. Next arraignment on 2/12/20. 1/28/20: Order: to keep him separate from other inmates.
2/11/20 Update: Court changed arraignment to 2/11/20. Hearing held – plead not guilty. No bond. Prosecutor assigned: Laura Adams. Next Plea Sounding hearing on 4/2 & trial is scheduled to begin on 4/13/20.
3/17/20 Update: No ruling on motion for bond modification/reduction. Hearing on 4/2 has been cancelled. Trial on 4/13 also has been cancelled. Next Felony Sounding hearing on 5/14 & trial is set to being on 5/26.
4/30/20 Update: Felony Sounding hearing on 5/14 was rescheduled due to coronavirus to 6/17. Trial set for 5/26/20 has been cancelled & rescheduled on 9/8/20.

They don’t look like scars to me. More like thin tan lines from the FL sun.
