The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant Thursday for Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc, 31, after a woman and her young child were found "brutally murdered" at a mobile home park in Dover, a small community outside Tampa.

Following search efforts that began Wednesday night and lasted into Thursday morning, Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc, 31, was arrested about 2 miles from the mobile home where deputies say he killed his girlfriend, 36-year-old Amalia Coc Choc de Pec, and her 4-year-old daughter, Estrella Anastasia Pec Coc. He faces two counts of first-degree murder with a weapon.

Cuz-Choc confessed to both killings in an interview with detectives after he was arrested, according to a news release.

Cuz-Choc was romantically involved with the woman, Chronister said. Investigators initially thought the girl was Cuz-Choc’s daughter but later confirmed that he is not related to her and that the girl’s father is in Guatemala.

Chronister said Cuz-Choc, the woman and her child moved to the area from Guatemala about seven months ago. Chronister said Cuz-Choc entered the country illegally.
