Hello MeInMaine WELCOME to WebSleuths

There is no good reason for anyone to die the way Russ did.

This is what i've read from above links.

Russ was a pilot for many years, his propery was worth almost $400,000, he was away for extended times, his girlfriend lived in California-he was thinking of renting property and moving to Ca.
So -- could be - robbery - but i did not see mention of items missing.
- jealous ex --what is the lifestyle of a pilot ?
- life insurance+ property - who profits?
-Ruth Fuentes age 49- was probably shot by Joel Rodriguez age 49
Russ age 50 -- all employed at one time by American Airlines.
Russ was shot
There is a forum on front page "General info+Dis" which may show you how to access sleuthing info - hope the crime against Russ is solved.

From January 2012:

During the first week of January 2011, Russell Walker answered his front door and was shot nine times, his body left lying face down in a pool of blood on the floor of his Pompano Beach home...

Walker’s family says they have few answers from police about what happened. They learned how he died when the slaying was aired on a local TV news report...

Robbery does not appear to have been the motive, and the family remains mystified by what happened, Genzale said. Walker’s girlfriend, Tricia Meza, also knows of nothing in the 50-year-old American Airlines pilot’s background that could explain his murder.

From March 2013:

“I believe he was targeted,” said Det. Torres, “For somebody to target him specifically, that’s the mystery in this whole case.”

Investigators checked to see if the crime was connected to a American Airlines co-worker’s murder; that did not pan out.

They described him as a boy scout, squeaky clean.

Fugitive may be questioned in airline worker slaying

Meanwhile, the Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the murder of Russell C. Walker, 50, an American Airlines pilot found dead inside his Pompano Beach home on Jan. 14, a week before Fuentes was found.

The Sheriff's Office on Thursday said Rodriguez did not appear to be linked to Walker's case. "At this point, Joel Rodriguez is not a suspect in the murder of Russell Walker," Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said.

Walker was found slain at about 10 p.m. in the 700 block of Southeast Seventh Avenue. Deputies had gone to Walker's home to check on him after nobody had seen or spoken to him in about a week.

Walker's brother, John Genzale, said Thursday that the Sheriff's Office also told him his brother's slaying seemed unrelated to the one in Miami-Dade.

"We haven't been told of any connection," Genzale said. "I've asked specifically about it."

Walker was a gifted aviator and first officer who flew Boeing 767s, friends said. Like Fuentes, he was based at the Miami airport.

Russell Walker
In January, Russell was planning to meet people in Colorado for a skiing trip. When his family couldn't contact him for a few days they thought he had changed his mind and gone to his vacation home in South Dakota.

Diane Scott: "We're thinking, well he doesn't have good reception maybe where he's skiing, because they're up really high and stuff, so we thought that's what happened."

After a few more days passed by Diane got worried and asked Juliana to go to Russel's house to check on him.

Julie Modzelewski: "When I had gone to the door to knock on the door there was a terrible odor and I just, that confirmed it for me. I just knew that Russ wasn't alive."

Police showed up and confirmed the dead man inside the home was Russell Walker.

Russel Walker had been dead for over a week, maybe even 10 days. Tragic for his family and difficult for detectives because not knowing when Russel was murdered makes it more difficult to determine who murdered him.

Detective Duggan: "I have no doubt that this case is going to be solved. I have no doubt whatsoever. We're just chipping away is what we're doing."

''Russell Walker opened the door of his home in Pompano Beach one day in January 2011. He was shot nine times. The killer got away while Walker's body lay on the floor for days before being discovered. The execution-style killing was cold, and eleven years later, so is his murder case. The second episode of the Broward Sheriff's Office cold case video series entitled "Open and Unsolved: Russell Walker" recounts the mysterious killing of an accomplished man who embraced the spirit of adventure.''

''FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives found Russell Walker dead on Jan. 4, 2011, in Broward County.

The 50-year-old pilot’s body had been on the floor of his home in Pompano Beach for about 10 days.

Deputies believe Walker voluntarily opened the door of his home before his killer shot him nine times.

“We believe that the killer before fleeing shut the door, so it probably wouldn’t be noticed,” Detective Zack Scott said.''

''In 2019, when BSO’s cold case homicide investigations unit was formed detectives reopened the cold case. Scott said the evidence clearly shows Walker was not the victim of an armed robbery or burglary.

“There were no valuables taken. We do not believe that the suspect even entered the home,” Scott said in a statement BSO released in June. “We believe that the confrontation with Mr. Walker occurred in the doorway, the front door, and he was killed there.”

Walker was a U.S. Navy aviator. He flew F-14 Tomcats at the famed Top Gun school and went on to work as a pilot for American Airlines for nearly two decades. He also enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle, hunting, and skiing''.

''Detectives are asking anyone with information about the cold case to call Scott at 954-321-4214, or call Broward County Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 954-493-8477. Deputies said anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.''
