FL - Sara Morales, 35, shot dead by motorcyclist she hit with car, Orange City, 20 Nov 2021

Also where I live. If the person drives away, you give the registration plate number to your insurance company and let them fight it out.
Finding/police finding the causing driver can make a difference in how much you pay out of pocket -- even if it wasn't your fault. No causing driver = deductible is owed in my experience being hit by a drink driver who fortunately did stop.

Thanks for clearing up the ownership of the bike on her porch.
In a town of 10,000 people, I wonder if there is any connection between these men and her fiancé.
Good point and well said.

I wonder what kind of bike Sara's boyfriend has? Likewise, what kind of bike were the men riding? If all had Harley Davidsons, I would say there is a pretty decent chance that they at least knew each other by sight.

Though not all Harley owners participate in the biker sub culture, there are plenty that do to varying degrees. Participation ranges from Outlaw / 2% club memberships, to un patched- but leathered up, to charity toy drives, to recreational riding clubs etc.

In my very large urban area, about three bars, say two American Legion clubs and a Harley dealer serve as jumping off points for biker sub culture socializing, charity activities and carousing with antics. A town of 10,000 that would probably have just one jumping off point.

Yes, it is interesting that both Sara's boyfriend and husband were not home.

Oops, should have read Sara's boyfriend and father...

You had me scratching my head for awhile there. Was about to start reading the thread again to see how I missed a husband.

<modsnip- quoted post removed>

Maybe the men got there just after Sara pulled up? I might have misunderstood the 911 call? But I find it interesting that Sara's boyfriend and father were not home.

Jay, I have also posted two audios of the men's 911 calls. Two points: (1) the men already had Sara's license plate number BEFORE they started following her; and (2) the male caller (whose last name was also Derr) knew EXACTLY what to tell the 911 Dispatcher, just 1 or 2 seconds after Sara was shot several times. "It was self-defense." It was too smooth; and too perfectly worded.

So, it's the audios (two of them) rather than the video that I am referencing:

Hit-and-run driver shot, killed in confrontation after Orange City crash, police say

I can’t tell if her mom came out after she was shot or before? But it doesn’t appear she went inside her home and came out again. She had the gun in her car.

Sara's mother was outside when Sara was shot. None of the parties have disputed this. And when Sara said, "It's okay, the cops are coming," (or something like that), she was talking to her mother rather than to the men.

Ah okay, thank you. How brutal for her mother. Her screams are heartbreaking.

After listening to SM’s 911 call again I do agree she was talking to her mother when she said that.

I sure wish the police would give us an update.

I cannot believe this and further I cannot believe that it is seen as OK.

I wonder how this random person knows the witnesses names? She is very specific. Youtubers can come up with wild stuff. Has anyone else confirmed this so we can talk about it?

I did find what y’all were talking about in a state AD used to live. Is that everything? I’m going to email a few reporters and ask why this guy is coming up roses in all the news articles.

I’m going to quit thread bombing, apologies.

The YouTuber is irresponsible. Now she posted that the male witness is not necessarily the brother of Andrew Derr. First name is probably Cody. And it was Andrew Derr's wife, not Cody's wife, who also was a so-called witness. The wife did not follow Sara.

Did I understand correctly? Has this been handled over to the State of Florida?

One thing is pretty clear from Sara's 911 call: She exited the CAR rather than the house. Also, none of the parties has disputed that Mother was outside and saw Sara shot. Police statements indicate Sara was shot near her garage,on the lawn.

I guess Sara did have the gun in the car, and exited with the gun to scare the men off?
Maybe- but that possibility is clearly not in her in favor.

One of the first things that responsible concealed weapons permit instructors emphasize is that guns are not for scaring other people. Likewise, weapons are not to be seen as "insurance", "back up" or "equalizers".

How was Sara supposed to get from her car to the house? And no one has disputed that Sara's mother was already outside and in panic.

i did not hear her mention the road rage / fender bender at all in the 911 call, if thats all of it. that came from the shooter and the others. no damage to bike. im not even sure i believe that narrative. has LE pulled any cctv to confirm this? they already said she went in the home and came out with the gun when she never made it in the house. we arent getting the full story here. i hope LE higher than local are looking into this.
