Now we're back, full jury in place.

State is reading text messages from SB's phone log.

I'm sure nobody here is surprised! Can you say e n t r a p m e n t!
Why couldn't she leave him alone -- let him be a peace with his parents where he was safe.
Holding his birth certificate hostage, really Sarah?

Judge asks the defense if they have anything else.

Owens, "no, but I do have some issues..."

Doesn't he always? Sigh.

Jury excused. Judge taking up matters.

He has been hard to take at times, but there is no doubt that Mr. Owens is fully 100% doing his best to represent SB. Not his fault she decided to video her own demise.

Defense will not present a rebuttal to the state's rebuttal.

Sarah is "very: satisfied with her representation. She is on board with them, not putting on a surrebuttal.

Judge explaining

He cannot advise the jury on evidence. Owens wanted to judge to tell the jury both SB and JT used the phone.

Owens had issue with State jumping around the texts. Judge advised the jury they'd get the entire exhibit which they are to read in full

Issue of tone between SB and JT in texts. Judge found State read them in a flat tone.

Now laying out the rest of today.

Will keep jury until 9pm or longer for deliberation.

Relieved yesterday's LE body cam and SB's private videos have eaten into her unsustainable defense.! The state really upped the ante and imo did the right thing. I believe jury will take from them what they need, to conclude SB held the power in that relationship and her part in the dynamic was aggressively abusive. Her verbal abuse was particularly devastating. That will hopefully eliminate any potentially lingering doubts that SB really feared for her life the night she killed JT. Moo

Now I have a new whine about the state! I wish this prosecutor could read out these text messages with more expression. He's not really making much of an impact on me because of the mono-tone. Maybe he should have practiced or given to his colleague if this is the best he can do minus a trial run. I get he's probably been worn down by this trial, if so delegate to the other dude? I just want the jury to feel the full import of the messages instead of dozing off! Jmo

Judge wanted to start closing statements after the lunch break.

Sho 'nuff, Owens suggests 1:30 because he's "going to need a little time..."

Defense probably would have objected (although they did anyway). Since you cannot guess tone. They will have to rely on the tapes for that.....

That was intentionally on his part. Any tone would have invited objection from the Defense. He read those portions as a way of highlighting them for the jury, something he couldn't physically do with a yellow highlighter, same effect however.

SB remains undaunted. Enthusiastic in her replies to the judge's questions.

I don't think SB thinks she's been exposed. I think she feels validated. Hard to fathom but there it is.

She is the train and the wreck and she doesn't even know it. You. Don't. Want. To. Be. Her. Passenger.

It proved to me that she cannot prove he was a violent drunk.. In fact, that flipped around on her really badly.
Yes agree, whereas I saw examples of her being quite the aggressive and verbally abusive drunk. I was struck by how deflated and compliant JT was in almost every piece of footage that was played. Also the contrast in sincerity and genuine expression of emotion could not have been more stark imo. I think all that will solidify just how discreditable Sarah Boone is. She simply cannot be believed.Moo

I'm sure her lawyer told her.

Oh ok, I see. I retract my whine. Thankyou! I missed that and now seeing that the jury will get the entire document to read which is good.

They need a robotic voice that reads with an even, neutral tone. MOO

Thankfully BSS is now mostly being used in the courts and it was pointed out that men can also be victims.
SB's videos fully demonstrated that for the jury.

Glad Jury will have access to the texts later. I guess that will be when they can consider them properly in relation to evidence as a whole. I think my expectations got skewed from watching defense attorney Alan Jackson read out loud a number of police officer M.Proctor's abusive and misogynistic texts in Karen Reid trial.
