Thankfully the state has a final rebuttal.

Ok this is awesome! Finally getting to all the lies and we can't believe anything she says.

It's 6:15pm.

Owens has to finish up his rambles. Then Henderson will speak. State will have a rebuttal. The judge will read the final set of jury instructions. There will be a dinner break at some point in there. We're not getting a verdict tonight, IMO.
Are they trying to eat up time so the jury would have very limited time to deliberate tonight before being released for the weekend?

Oh, and I forgot about dinner.

I'm glad Henderson didn't get up to speak after all. I don't want to hear anything else from the defense.

  • #725
That seems far-fetched to me, IMO.

Why? Where I come from, a slash in you leg requiring a dozen stitches is assault (with a deadly weapon) in the first degree -- punishable by prison up to 5 years. There's no record of JT doing prison time here. MOO

Was that said in court?
He was supposed to speak after Owens.

They lied at the hospital about how it happened, supposedly.

Yes, before closing arguments started, Owens said he would be closing and then Henderson would speak on closing, too. The state said they'd never heard of such a thing before. The judge said he'd allow it. Looks like Owens and Henderson must have changed their mind about doing it that way.

PLEASE -- Can the prosecutor please ask the Jurors why SB just didn't call 911 if she was so overcome with fear of JT who was already secured inside the suitcase!

Police could come and carry the suitcase away...
Yay -- finally, prosecutor said it in rebuttal. SB did not take reasonable efforts before murdering JT. She did not take her phone, did not call 911, leave, did not exhaust every reasonable means for something she initiated!

The suitcase looks in too good a condition for SB to have been donating it.
Could it have been easily used with the zipper issue?

He is making so much sense, glad they saved this for the last of the closing arguments

BBM

Mr. Jay: "A lot of her issues predated her relationship with Mr. Torres so it's not attributable to the trauma with Mr. Torres with all of the luggage she brought into the relationship."

Mr. Jay what about the bat?

Yes.
I remember that from yesterday.
She was a violent drunk to BB.

"the luggage" lol

On Day 3, at the request of the prosecution, SB demonstrated the approximate locations of the zipper nubs after she zipped JT into the suitcase. She supposedly left it partially open to give JT room to breathe and poke out his hand. Am posting screenshots that compare an image of the suitcase at the end of this demonstration to one in the 2nd video, taken after JT's battery with the bat. Note that the images do not match. The only zipper nub visible in the video appears to be in the red circle on the left side of the top of the suitcase. This seems to indicate the suitcase was zipped completely shut. MOO
I was very surprised to see the size of the actual suitcase. I pictured a large, cruise suitcase, not this much smaller one.

This is unbelievable. This defense attorney IMO is playing quite loose with facts, evidence, and his closing statements! And there, state objected, judge sustained, and statement stricken!

Seems he is attempting to relitigate his entire case.

I have my own beliefs as to what is occurring. But need to sit on my hands and finish typing the rest. SMH. IANAL. MOO
Owens thinks he is the next Baez....thinking books deals, etc. I find him despicable.

Here comes the nail in the coffin

I cannot take the BSS BS from Owens, painting Sarah as a helpless victim...I wonder if anyone on the jury is buying it, or if their eyes are rolling so far back in their heads they can see their own brain. It's completely laughable, and I hope they see right through her.

Every time I feel a twinge of sympathy for Owens for having Sarah as a client and very little time to prepare for trial, I remember that he voluntarily signed up for this gig.

Question from a legal standpoint: IF (big IF, because I don't think it's likely) the jury buys into the BSS defense, what are their options - full acquittal, or something lesser, or is it up to them to decide what to do with that? Apologies if it's been discussed, I am all in on the 2nd-degree Murder boat, but Florida juries (thanks Casey Anthony case) have given me PTSD (for real) and I need to prepared just in case.

Owens: "Sarah Boone is not perfect."
Judge: "Sarah, are you still satisfied with your representation?"
Sarah: "Not any more!"
I can totally emphasize on your PTSD after the Casey Anthony case concerning juries.
