It was a small white piece of paper. The bailiff literally pulled it out of her hand.
ahh ok I must have seen something different then, I just saw the black folder. Wonder what the small white piece paper was ? maybe a note to someone? Im going to go look again,

I wonder if SB really thought she had a chance at not guilty? I am still shaking my head that she turned down the plea deal for manslaughter and still think if she had stuck with her original story she could have even gotten involuntary manslaughter. I think the jury got it right but I also think the defense did a good job - they just had nothing to work with - no way to overcome the video. Owens did all he could. But…I hope I never have to listen to him say they didn’t have enough time again.

We can only hope that this backfires on them in a most spectacular fashion that includes the jury rendering a 2nd degree murder verdict in the fastest verdict return in Florida history, and that any and all book deals, Netflix documentaries, Daily Mail exclusives, and any other money-making schemes that were in the works, evaporate into thin air.
You really called it!

I think she legitimately thought she would get off or at the very least get the lowest sentence which correct me if I’m wrong was 16 years which was one over the plea. She’s that narccisictic, my speculation is she will exhaust all her appeals then continue to complain forever about how she was the victim

In fairness especially to victims of DV, I took a look at the Orange County Docket to view whether or not JT had any issues/arrests for DV with others besides SB, and as you probably suspected, the Court records cite as follows:

June 2019 indicates JT had been living in Florida for 6 years (relocated from PA), worked as the Store Manager at Ace Hardware for four years, and had dated SB for 2.5 years.

I think it fair to say that his life with SB from June 2019 to his death in Feb 2020 was no picnic or fun & games. No matter how SB tried to paint the dysfunction, she gaslit the hell out of this man. May he finally RIP now that justice has been served.

On 6/15/2019, SB filed complaint against JT with police alleging he assaulted her and flung her off the bed after she was talking to a male. SB gave a statement to officers that she wanted JT prosecuted, and that she would testify.
Police charged JT with battery (dating violence) and arrested him without incident. JT was observed with scratches on his neck and shoulder and when asked how he obtained the injuries, he responded that he did not assault SB, and she did not assault him.
On 6/16/19, JT appeared before a Ninth Circuit Judge who issued JT have NO CONTACT with SB (NCO), set his bond at $2,000, which was paid the same day by his Mother B. Torres.

On 6/19/2019, JT's bond was ordered revoked for violated his NCO with SB and he was arrested again. (I think we saw this on video at trial-- SB phoned JT and asked him to stop at her home after work where police showed up minutes later).

On 6/21/2019, SB gave notice to the prosecutor that she was declining to prosecute/testify against JT for the 6/15/2019 incident, and requested the NCO amended by the Court to a "No Hostile Contact Order" with the victim.

8/28/2019 - JT was charged again with one count of battery (dating violence) by probable cause determination. Judge Ordered JT to have NC with victim SB, and set his bail at $500 which was paid by Ace Hardware, Inc. on 8/30/2019.

9/5/2019, JT was cited for violation of pretrial bail release (battery incident 8/28).
9/23/2019 - Reference 1 count battery (dating violence), "No Information Notice" filed by the Asst State Attorney stating from the investigation made, and the opinion of the State Attorney, the case was not suitable for prosecution. This action is taken to clear the records and to release subject's bond if any has been posted responsive to the above charge(s).
10/1/2019 - Hearing was cancelled.

Oh, my is probably a fair statement!

Nonetheless, allegations from 25 years ago are just that, and these men are still in good standing with the Florida Bar, or would not have appeared before Judge Kraynick to defend SB. JMO

What a quick verdict! Just watched it.

To the judge; what a professional. He treated the jury with the dignity and respect they deserved. He treated the law with the dignity and respect it deserves. His detailed and clear instructions to the jury reflect all that imo. So damn impressed. Thank you judge!

To the prosecutors; I feel bad and pre judgemental by my lapse of faith in their dedication and capabilities after SB'cross. I was wrong and I'm sorry. Who am I to pre-judge a difficult strategy which I didn't t even understand! I see now that Mr J and Mr C were always coming from a place of passion and dedication for what is right and just. They knew what had to be done, and they did it, professionally and very smartly. Imo capable, ethical professionals. Thank you prosecutors. What an amazing job you did. Seriously, no walk in the park.

To the jury: They did their duty. They considered the evidence and listened to the judge. This jury took their instructions seriously and returned the right and proper verdict. I hope they are all proud of themselves.

All above Moo.

Man this trial was full on. Loved being here with you all in the ether.!

In my opinion SB is a narcissistic sociopath.
Not one time did I see even a tear well up in her eyes.
She ought to be ashamed of the character assignation she laid upon a murdered man, by her hand nonetheless.
I don't know a single person who could hear him saying Sarah, I can't breathe and sit there. In the moment as well as in the courtroom.
She didn't even she's a tear for herself after the verdict. She's still the pompous B she has always been.
I hope her son grows up with counseling and support to heal from all of this.

Oh my.

Gotta say, that second article details some pretty disturbing allegations.

Owens dropped a few what I would consider sexist and condescending comments in his closing. Also ill placed and irrelevant.

Just personally, I don't like Owens on a gut level. Not at all. Boundary busting, smarmy and underhand. Though didn't get a similar vibe from Henderson, if there is any truth to those old allegations, that was reprehensible, not to mention illegal conduct against a minor. jmo

I came late to this trial.
Can't believe how evil SB is.
Wonderful result.
Thank you jurors.

Idk but for sure she does not seem to have any real empathy for others, may not experience real love towards other people based on the plethora of videos we've seen.

Whatever her issues are and whatever combo of nature nurture formed her, it's not safe for others to be around her either physically or psychologically imo. She's about to start her time for murder and reckless indifference to others' well being (emotional abuse) to the point that physical life is actually at issue, I believe is as dangerous as a more overt uncontrolled physical aggression. Not that she hasn't displayed poor control over her aggressive tendencies to strike out by by any means.jmo

I hope she can be helped whilst in prison but from my limited understanding if she is severely narcissistic to the point of a diagnosable personality disorder there would be limited outlook for the self awareness and insight. All jmo.

Not one tear.
I don't think she even shed one during the trial and not even once whenever she heard Jorge pleading for his life.

I think that's the thing isn't it.

Also the inability to see that it was far wiser to take the 15 year plea deal for manslaughter. That would have been getting off light and she'd be able to re-join society and connect with her son after significant 'time out'.

But SB cannot change, we saw how her sadistic violence to first her ex-husband then JT escalated over time and how her denials / defensive delusions that she did nothing wrong never ended.

So it is absolutely right and fair that she should be removed from society for the long haul and the public are kept safe from her.

I hope these people who tried to force the BSS on us have learned rapidly from this. BSS may have got through the radar of some cases in Florida and now it's been included in some case law but IMO this is terribly wrong, there is *no such thing* as BSS - it does not 'sit under PTSD' as a diagnosis, that was a lie.

BSS is a book written in the 1970s by a Psychologist hoping to have compassion and understanding for the fact that continually battered and abused women might snap and fight back in order to save their life, to suggest there is psychological and structural brain change from sustained abuse that could explain certain things. That idea, from a book from fifty years ago, was referred to in court as if it were enshrined in law and medical science. It is not. It is not a legal or medical diagnosis. Activists, lawyers, and lobby groups in Florida need to flare this for investigation and push back.

He argued for what his client believed she was, a victim of BSS.
IIRC: BSS as a defense does not have a good record for acquittals.
He didn't walk blindly into her case but he was smart enough to try at first to get her to agree to a plea deal.

It was very telling when Owens said SB 'wanted her day in court'.
There was no plea deal she was going to take, it could have been five years (already served 4.5) and she'd have said no IMO. She was probably already thinking of all the interviews she'd do about being wrongly incarcerated and spending the compensation money.

It needs to be set in stone that she and her subsidiaries cannot profit from this crime.

This is all so repulsive. Surely the paternity of the child can be proven by a DNA test?
