There has been notice of taking depositions on January 31st by the defense for

1) RK ( I believe he is with the medical examiner's office)

2) AB ( his roommate at the time on Halifax Rd, the one they had trouble locating)

3) MG ( a neighborhood where he lived on Halifax Rd)

There are also two more subpoena for depositions, and another page of notice of taking deposition, but they are so new and they are not released yet

*Pretrial Status Hearing (@ 9am ET) - FL - Savannah Page Gold (21) (Aug. 2, 2017, Jacksonville) - *Lee Rodarte, Jr. (28) arrested & charged (8/6/17) & indicted (8/29/17) with 2nd degree murder with weapon & tampering with evidence; confessed, but plead not guilty. Bond was at $500K, but on 1/31/18 ordered to be held with no bond. Remains in Duval County jail without bond.
10/30/17: waived right to speedy trial. Final pretrial hearing 10/23, jury selection 10/29/18 have been struck. New trial date for October, no date set. 7/3/18: Defense files Motion for Continuance, granted. Strike dates 10/23 & 10/29. Moved to October, with no set date. Next pretrial hearing 8/29/18. 8/29/18: Pretrial cancelled re-scheduled for 8/30. 8/30/18: Next Pretrial hearing on 9/27, Final pretrial on 2/19/19 & jury selection starts on 2/25/19. 9/27/18: Next Pretrial hearing on 11/8, final pretrial & trial date on target.

Detective AK will have another deposition by the defense ( I think this will make the third one) on January 29th.

For those that remember the Michael Dunn / Jordan Davis case in Jacksonville in 2014, he was one of the main detectives on the stand.

Recent activity

January 16th the defense submitted a motion asking for an order for production of recut histological lung slides for hematoxylin and eosin staining. They previously asked for production of recut histological slides of the lungs on November 8th.

The new motion states they want the slides for dr. Edward Wiley to review. He is a forensic pathologist consultant in St Petersburg Fl.

Missed this one until now but upon reading through it, a few things stick out:

- Absolutely tragic and heartbreaking; young woman had her whole life ahead of her - heart aches for her family

- The killer here may be one of the dumbest criminals to ever exist. He gets himself caught on camera and her getting into his vehicle. Cameras capture their entire struggle in his vehicle, then he slashes her tire in plain view and then sends the texts to her family. My head hurts thinking about how absolutely moronic this was

- Looking at some of his pics and stories, he seems like the type of guy who constantly would hit in women much younger than him and had to always be in control, thinking their youth and naivete would help him with that. Guy strikes me as a legend in his own mind that never made anything of himself and talked a huge game that was never backed up by real life - jmo here

- This case will cost the state of Florida way too much money since he pleaded NG after confessing which I assume is to try to get one of the charges reduced or dropped for a lighter sentence

Throw the book at this miserable and get him off the streets forever. RIP Savannah - hope her family can find peace.

For some reason, I think he eventually will plead right before the trial. I just think that this is going to go the way of Christopher Watts case.

Except he is delaying it?

If it goes to trial it will be shown that his triangle girlfriend CS, who has had a deposition last year and spent time with him after the murder, that he might be concerned that she will be drug into the mire also.

I would say more, but it might be against TOS so I will wait. Or perhaps later I will just post what I can find from mainstream media quoting from his time that was videotaped and is on the internet and mainstream media of his confession.

ETA, I still am of the opinion that in the autopsy it stated that she had a broken hyoid bone.

To most that follows cases, MOO, that means they were strangled.

I don't know why the medical examiner did not say that as the cause of death, manner of death, but perhaps the person that has been hired by the defense will tell the defense, that this is obviously when it happened and the prosecution may say that. And that will let him know that he should plea?

I found it very interesting in the Case Files, which I posted up thread, that the defense wanted to ask the prosecution what their theory was of when, where, and how she was killed.

ETA #2 - prayers going up for her mother, who on the outset of this entire case and throughout her depositions was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. May she be blessed knowing there was Justice.

Perhaps when he sees the results of all the depositions and all the photographs of the burn site at his house and the results of this, he will be open to a plea deal.

But I hope they do not give him something lenient.

And I hope the family is very involved if the prosecution does offer him a plea deal because it seems to be such an open-and-shut case. The horrific details, I don't know if the family would want to hear.

I know I don't want to hear the details of this monster who strangled, then carried to a burn pit at his house and burned, then transported and threw in a lake ( on the same street that he and triangle g'friend grew up on FGS), a lovely young woman, and then spent the evening with his triangle love interest.

ETA- if it does go to trial, the love interest triangle person, CS, may /SHOULD perhaps be very concerned. He/ his defense attorney in opening statements and closing statements could throw blame and or involvement onto her?

As we have seen in many cases, defense attorneys will do anything for their clients, and since she seems so involved in the case before and after, he may involve her very much?

Evidence: Lee Rodarte admitted to killing Savannah Gold

NOTE: 56 minute interrogation video is embedded within the article, yet article states police finally got a statement from him, which was not released. It will remain confidential until the trial. Within hours of Rodarte’s statement, a dive team found Gold’s body, wrapped up, in a pond at the dead end of a Westside street.
At his home, crime scene investigators found knives, gasoline and bleach, as well as a fire pit.

The State Attorney’s Office released hundreds of crime scene photos, hours of surveillance video and a recording of Rodarte's interrogation by Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detectives to News4Jax on Thursday. The details are disturbing. Police said there was a struggle in his back seat and that she kicked the door open three times, but never got out.

It looks like last week they submitted two more subpoenas for depositions. It's not showing the paperwork for who the folks are yet, I will update when it is visible on the website.

There has been a warrant return for AB, Lee's roomie at the time of the incident on Halifax Road)

They have been looking for him since March 3rd 2018, got a new address from the prosecution in December, and tried to serve a warrant on him twice during the month of January 2019.

He lives in a condominium now, and the warrant says that the gate was closed both times they tried to serve the warrant upon him and they can't get in touch with him, and left a message on his call box.

I hope they can just wait formhim at the gate to serve this. Unacceptable to think the police can’t gain access to serve a warrant. If only Savannah had been allowed that protection in life.
