Bently, timing is everything ;)

jk ... Thanks for the update.

Yeah, I really thought it was just false information as it was so incredible to be true. I'm big on links ya know  so ...the media outlet I contacted moved so quickly on it though, I'm amazed. I expect this will turn into a news cycle, but I do hope doesn't take away from the loving comments and photos that Savannah's parents have been sharing.

Agree, and I still cannot wrap my head around it. Done in broad daylight!

I also cannot fathom the shock and grief of those young folks who worked at the same restaurant with both of them (assuming "young", as that is the demographic of the restaurant business). My heart goes out to their coworkers as all of this... it's part of their "family" - and her brother working there as well ...and it appears that he worked that night and was the one to find her car after he got off work ( from MSM report showing the missing persons report on the video.)
My first sympathies lie with her Family. How utterly horrible.

Both of my kids work at Texas Roadhouse, I'm trying to picture the dynamic. I feel badly for the "Bonefish Family", they are processing a death of a coworker and a betrayal of a manager. Rough stuff.

I used to think if my kids didn't walk alone at night, leave their windows open and stayed away from strangers they were mostly safe. This kind of crime blows my mind as a mother. Who in the world gets killed at 5:30pm, in the front seat of a car, in a busy parking lot, by their co-worker? Sorry to keep going there but I am so gobsmacked by this whole idea.

A few cases back, there was something on social media we couldn't talk about here at WS. I called reporter on case, and voila, on the news so we could..

Due to recent postings, I called two of the reporters earlier today, to investigate what I had seen as rumor. They said they would look into. Boy, they are quick. It has been confirmed by MSM, so we now can talk about it.

Wow. She lived about a mile from me. I noticed when her name came up before that she was listed on the JSO inmate search but he wasn't. Finally determined that JSO misspelled his name. He is listed as Lee Rodante.

Tripplo.. I see that happen as to misspells. (ummm, aren't misspells what led mom and brother to notify police in the first place... karma!) Or... makes ya  about how a governmental agency can get the spelling of a name wrong?

Thank you Bently! Great job!

What's with this family? Two murderers? No impulse control?

Thank you Bently! Great job!

What's with this family? Two murderers? No impulse control?

:dunno: The odds of having two siblings with alleged murders blows my mind. Obviously I know more about this case than his sister's case, which iirc was a drug murder. (Not sure we can discuss much here as to her case??? here is link http://jacksonville.com/news/2016-12-07/woman-arrested-another-woman-s-shooting-death-super-8-jacksonville. Karma, but she also was apprehended due to video surveillance cameras)

I would ponder that the defense for both now, perhaps, will say "bad gene" runs in the family, and not responsible? Guess we shall hear more in 2 or more years with mitigating factors. (Gosh, I hope her family knows it may take that long or longer) I have read nothing about either having a mental illness.

And as to lack of impulse control, I just can't imagine that he hasn't expressed lack of impulse control before.

Such a sad ending...I can't imagine..

"....questions remain on why the first time the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spoke on her disappearance was three days later, when they had found her body and charged a co-worker with murder at 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning."...News4Jax asked JSO about why there was no official information about the missing persons case until it was over. "The investigation progressed and at the point foul play was suspected, we did not need the media's assistance in locating her," Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda said in an email.

News4Jax is waiting to hear when the JSO began its active investigation, when it obtained the surveillance video that showed Gold getting into Rodarte's car in the parking lot of Bonefish Grill on Wednesday afternoon and when officers first questioned Rodarte."

..more at link, including video and timeline, and consultant who points out that releasing information considers how much the public can help.

This First Coast News YouTube Video which was uploaded tonight says that the next court date will be his arraignment on August 29th. (Previously posted on thread it would be Wednesday... not sure if that one still stands)

Savannah Gold murder suspect showed 'remorse' during calls from jail, ex-girlfriend says by: Action News Jax Updated: Aug 7, 2017 - 11:47 PM

"......Rodarte’s ex-girlfriend said she got a call from him Saturday night....."It just shocked me with this because the Lee I know would never, could never do anything like this," she said. She said she and Rodarte dated for 11 years and he was never violent toward her. They grew up across the street from each other and still talked everyone once in a while despite breaking up two years ago, she said. She said Rodarte has called her several times since Saturday. She said the last time she spoke to him was Sunday. "I said, ‘What's going on?’” she said. “He said he couldn't speak about it. I said, ‘Do you have any remorse for this?’ and he said, ‘Yes.’ And he couldn't say anything else about it." She said Rodarte wasn’t aggressive and she never felt scared while with him.

I'm gobsmacked at these women who are going to the Mainstream media, and on social media, to justify/stand up for a murderer or subtlety victim trash/blame. :moo: :cow: I guess I will just put it down to that they are unknowing victims also?

When I watched the video of his appearance, I was looking for scratches and didn't see any. Not until I saw this mugshot. I see scratch possibly on his neck?

Note to self - If I am ever being strangled, and natural reaction is to try to remove hands, go for scratching their face first a few times! Although he had the knife to puncture the tire afterwards... we still don't have autopsy report as to cause of death. We've had no information yet from the forensics/warrant on the car yet that they were in. :waiting:

ETA: I thought his mugshot was REALLY strange in that it was shadowed on one side. Are they all like this one... off to google images... ok, back. Yep, all of them on the net are shadowed. I have never seen that before in a mugshot. And the scratch is on the shadowed side.

This creep WAITED on her. I'll bet that what he went back to the car for was her cell...possibly to delete messages that he had sent to her cell to meet? I would venture a guess that the reason her CC and ID were laying in the floorboard was he rifled through her purse to find the phone and just threw whatever he found into the floor not even noticing what it was.

How could he not know he was being recorded? Maybe he was hoping that the videos would write over themselves after a day or so and would be in the clear...he had to at least wonder if he was being recorded with CCTV everywhere in this day and age...that's why I can't figure out why he left her car in the parking lot. He goes back and punctures the tire after he killed or incapacitated her. He uses her phone to leave these ridiculously phony texts that a 5 yr old would know were fake. Why didn't he just take her car somewhere else...he got rid of her body within 3 miles so he had plenty of time to come back and get the car...that would've at least got the investigation off the restaurant parking lot because if her car wasn't there then who's to say she even showed up for work. That might give CCTV time to write over itself. I'll bet that to LE this guy almost had a big arrow pointing to him saying 'guilty'.

As for the tire puncturing...was the pick just random...did he accidentally pick the brand new one OR did he pick it because he punctured it the night before? Was the argument about the tire? Maybe they had argued the night before and he had punctured it in a rage. I find it odd that the tire he punctured was coincidentally the one she had just replaced.

I'm also wondering about motive. From the way her family has talked she had a crush on him and he didn't reciprocate...then suddenly he did so they have this on/off relationship. She was beautiful and him not so much. It looks like this guy would've jumped on the chance to date a gorgeous girl like her that was interested in him...but he didn't...why? What about her threatened him so much that he waited on her and then killed her...there's a whole list of possibilities a psychopath may use to justify killing someone I won't openly speculate here...

It may be impulse control...killing her in a moment of madness that in his mind justified what he was doing. BUT the fact that he waited on her leads me to believe there might have been some premeditation...if he wanted to talk to her why didn't they talk over text...they had all night to talk...and a fellow with little to no impulse control doesn't strike me as the kind to sit and wait just to talk...

This is all my own musings, speculations, and opinions...

I live in NE Florida and have been to this area before with friends -- he looks incredibly familiar. Does anyone know what kind of vehicle he drives?

  • #237
If I recall, he wasn't supposed to be driving.....

Anyone remember?

Jacksonville, Florida gets such a horrible rap for fast becoming one of the most dangerous places in the USA (our murder rate is horrible). However, I am always so proud of my city when something so tragic happens (Somer Thompson, Lonzie Barton, Maddie Clifton, Cherish Perrywinkle). We come together and we love and we hold their families up. Sherri and Dan are amazing people. The strength and resolve they have shown since Saturday morning has been nothing short of amazing. I know they are still in shock and at this point are just breathing. However, in suffocating pain, they have been just well.....amazing. Thank you for all that everyone does on these horrific cases. I really just come in to read and share little bits but never think of the things you all do. Again, thank you. If you pray, just keep praying and holding the Golds close to your hearts. They have so many miles to go. I am not sure they have any idea how long this legal process will take. It seems so cut and dry. We all know that is not true. I pray for a peace that surpasses all understanding. I also pray for renewed health for Sherry. So worried about how this will all affect her health in the short and long term. Keep smiling and dancing sweet Savannah. Justice is coming, beautiful girl. We will help your mom, dad and brother down her.

I've mused those also. I really want to again review the timeline of him and the time that he spent with her before the violence in the car and agree... he went specifically for her phone and dumped out all to get such.. and then sat in car how long before slashing the sidewall. I need to again review if he sat for sometime with her phone scrolling throught texts before he slashed... or was his 15 minutes time spent after he slashed the tires?

My musings include: The slash in the sidewall was 1", so he indeed had a knife in the car he was driving. Picking out the same exact tire... I just  outside the box, in that perhaps she was blaming him for slashing the night before, he waited for her knowing when she would be arriving for her shift... and he was fighting with her saying it was "not me" that did it, and he lost control. If that is so, (that a third player actually WAS the one that slashed her tire the night before, he became outraged when they fought about what happened the night before. (NOTE: Narcicists and other folks do NOT like to be caught in a lie, or told that they did something when they didn't and could lose control?

I also ..... why were the texts sent to her dad and brother (per MSM) specifically? There's some reason that I cannot figure out. Speculation, based on MSM/LE reports.. is that he knew her brother from work so picked out that number to text... but why did he chose the dad to text to vs. mom? Perhaps he knew from their conversation that after (again speculation) the tire was "damaged" the day before, that she and her brother had talked about who possibly damaged the tire, and she told him that all 3 thought it was him? I have thought and thought, and that's my primary guess as to motive... until later in the day or when more information is released.

:dunno: but with the Florida Sunshine laws, and with the media on top of this trending story, I would expect that the media will be getting and releasing information such as phone records, warrant recovery information on the car he was driving as to forensics with his suspended license,

Again, others here on threads are versed in these personality types/disorders that would be able to chime in on my musings, and I would like to hear their thoughts on this speculation, based on facts in MSM/LE, as I'm not versed at all)

If I recall, he wasn't supposed to be driving.....

Anyone remember?

See below... his initial arrest when he was working was "driving on suspended license"

"Gallaher said Rodarte initially denied seeing or being with Gold, or even being at the shopping center Wednesday night. However, the video shows Rodarte was there, he said.

On Saturday, police initially took Rodarte into custody on a warrant for driving with a suspended driver’s license. When detectives again interviewed him about Gold’s disappearance, Rodarte incriminated himself in her death and disposal of her body, Gallaher said."
