True. Older automatic transmissions like that can bump out of gear from impact, but just going into the water probably wouldn't have jolted it enough for that.

He wouldn't be the only missing person's case where not all the information is online ( or isn't accurate in other cases). So I wouldn't be surprised if it was just an oversight that his car was not mentioned as missing, too. That's unfortunate, but someone's vehicle not being mentioned as missing too likely has happened in other case summaries posted online.

Tisdale's Charley Project page was updated to "resolved" yesterday: "Tisdale disappeared from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 16, 2005. In January 2024, his remains were found inside a white 1980s model Oldsmobile submerged in 25 feet of water in a retention pond outside the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, Florida. They were identified in April. His death is under investigation."

So the ID in the car was correct.

Condolences to his family. I'm glad they finally have answers.
