GUILTY FL - Seath Jackson, 1, brutally murdered, Summerfield, 17 April 2011

  • #81
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying at all this wasn't intentional or premeditated. It was, so clearly. I'm not defending, not routing an escape from responsibility. This was horrible. I shed tears thinking about Seath in the bathtub. They intended to harm and kill him, but I just don't know if they were intelligently capable of seeing it as Murder, as permanently removing someone from life. I think kids who kill in general, especially in this group frenzy, don't grasp how REAL what they are doing is. There's no excuse, no reason, no escaping culpability for anyone involved. I just don't think they're mature enough to understand what it truly meant.

I agree...there's no way to excuse this IMO. These weren't babies, most were old enough to drive, be drafted and vote. Of course they knew if they shot someone and he died it was murder. Now if we were talking 6 year- olds...I can see the intellect argument. But 18 year-olds? I just can't buy it.

I understand what you're saying, but my person feeling is that we're enabling an entire generation to act badly by giving irresponsible, violent behavior terms that validate that behavior. What about personal responsibility? How hard is it to stop and think before acting out. Let's see...should I beat, shoot, then dismember this guy because he dissed my girl? Hmmm...decisions, decisions. :banghead: How many more "disabilities" are going to be fabricated to allow today's youth to move away from common sense? I've been online since the inception of the internet and I've yet to commit any crimes nor have I lost my sense of right from wrong. I'm sure most here can say the same thing.

BBM

Where has that gone? This is simply becomming a very crazy world

The perpetrators of this brutal crime, with one exception, were 18, 18, and 20. I would not call them "children" or "kids." I don't wonder what in the world could have caused them to act this way. They are young adults who wanted a teenager to die, so they went ahead and killed him and went to a great deal more trouble than most to attempt to get away with it. They know as well as any of us what murder is, and they have had the same influences that millions of non-murderers do. All their tears and regrets are for themselves. I don't see any mitigating circumstances whatsoever.

I don't believe that evil is an entity that exists in the world outside of individual humans. I believe that evil is merely the term we use to describe a mindset some people have that other people's suffering is not as important as their own desires or objectives.

I didn't get to do a write up earlier but I read about this in the news. I was stricken with such grief and sadness. I cried and cried. What kind of monsters are these people, ( I can't call them kids) who would do such a vicious thing to another person? I can't seem to grasp such a situation that is so heinous and heartless. I just fall apart when I think about the cruelty. Where is the fault in this? They are adults and who can we blame but them for this crime. I can't even compose myself when I think of what was done to this child. Society has changed--we have become so violent and heartless, (some of us).

My hearts go out to the family. Bless them and may this poor child R.I.P.

I'm sorry I am so broken up over this. Some crimes will be the ones that hurt us the most, this one gets to me.
Just pure evil and most likely, drugs will be found to be the cause mixed with evil.

Sheesh, he was just a baby still, he looks so young, a young fifteen.

I agree with the poster upthread who speculated that it may turn out that fear of drug use being revealed is what drove this sick crime.

Poor kid. He's such a beautiful boy. As for the creatures that stand accused, I can't say much about them except sometimes mediocrity recognizes something greater than itself and seeks to destroy that greater thing so its own worthlessness is less apparent.

Parents need to be aware where their kids are and who they are hanging out with, where they are going. A fifteen year old, IMO, should not be free to leave the house in this day and age without saying exactly where he's going, why and when he'll be back. It's a dangerous world out there filled with a lot of vermin.

http://www.theledger.com/article/20...an-Accused-of-Killing-Ocala-Teen-Pleads-Fifth

Assistant State Attorney Amy Brendt asked Bargo if he shot Seath Jackson, but Bargo immediately invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination

This happened within miles of my home.
These animals went to the same school as a friends daughter and 2 of them were on her FB friends list
My son is 12
This story tears at my heart and at the same time scares me to death
I really hope these kids and the father get LWOP but I doubt it

Michael Bargo, 19; Justin Soto, 20; Kyle Hooper, 17; and Amber Wright, 15, are all charged with first-degree murder. They have pleaded not guilty and await their own trials.

Eventually, investigators asked Ely directly if she and Amber Wright lured Seath to the Summerfield home knowing he was going to be killed.

"You are going to hear her (on a recording of that interview) say, ‘Yes,' " Berndt told the jurors.

"The jury in Charlie Kay Ely's first-degree murder trail deliberated for just more than an hour before returning with a guilty verdict on Friday.

Ely burst into tears and courtroom observers gasped as the verdict was read just after 1 p.m. The case was turned over to the 12-member jury at 11:30 a.m. They returned to the courtroom after reaching a verdict just before 12:45 p.m.

Under Florida law, life without parole is the mandatory sentence for a first-degree murder conviction. A sentencing hearing was not immediately set in order to allow time for members of Seath Jackson's family to present victim statements to the court."

Such a senseless train of events. This story, and Seath, made my grab my child really tight that day, reminds me to do it again today.

Love your children. Love them right and teach them that.
It's better for EVERYONE.

So senseless here and makes me so sad!!

Michael Bargo, 19, Justin Soto, 20, and Kyle Hooper, 17 and Amber Wright, 15, are still awaiting trial. In April, Seath was beaten, tied up and shot. His body was then burned, and his remains placed into 5-gallon buckets and thrown into a flooded limerock pit. Bargo is the alleged gunman.
