The cult thing is pretty obvious, I comprehend that. But no one has touched on why Josh and Joseph are attracted to little girls?

All speculation, but they might not be specifically attracted to female adolescents. It could be that little girls are just the victims available to them. I know that with CSAM, consumers aren’t necessarily pedophiles, and may have escalated in watching increasingly extreme and taboo content (sometimes it’s a porn addiction, sometimes it’s an interest in gore) and CSAM is just another extreme thing. I also think that if you’re taught that sexual thoughts and masturbation and molesting children are all sins, you might think those things are all equally bad so if you’ve done one you might as well do the others. And, of course, the misogyny of thinking that women and girls are stumbling blocks and responsible for men feeling tempted to sin.

I think it’s important to point out those possibilities (I.e. the not-pedophilia explanations) not because they’re less bad, but because I think they’re more preventable.

Because they are constantly told they are naturally and uncontrollably attracted to girls with no age limit. You can't force sexual attraction, but the repeated message has an impact.

Their father yells at young girls that their skirts are too short, and that Dad knows how boys think, in front of the boys. Combine that with normal heterosexuality (not attraction for children) and lack of the education to learn how to deal with normal feelings, lack of access to peers with whom to discuss boundaries and feelings in a peer group, defecto responsibility for younger kids, since they are everywhere like wild daisies, boys who are naturally attracted to peers but have access to children... think, well, it's natural for boys to think like this and dad told her not to let her knees show, and she'll be in big trouble if she tells and she's asleep anyway, etc., etc.

If the abuser is actually attracted primarily to children, obviously that's a bigger hill to climb to keep smaller children around them safe. But the way these kids are raised, the attraction to children is not necessary to make smaller children unsafe.

After reviewing the charges, the judge confirmed that Duggar had a copy of his paperwork. He did not want the court to assign an attorney; the judge let him know that if circumstances change, he can file an application to have one appointed. He has hired a lawyer, but I could not catch the name. Duggar's lawyer asked for the most reasonable bond possible, highlighting that the client has no prior criminal history, not even a speeding ticket. His dad came into town on Saturday and is there in the community, ready to post bond. Asked that he is treated as fairly as anyone else, "regardless of his status in the television industry." The judge asked whether this attorney was here only for the first appearance, or whether he'd be representing Duggar throughout the proceedings, and the attorney confirmed the latter.

The state argued for a substantial bond and asked for no contact with the victim or any minors. Said even though he has no criminal history, he also has no ties to the community. They ask for a substantial bond.

The judge then asked whether there was any criminal history, and the pending charges in Arkansas were mentioned.

Duggar's lawyer said those charges are still pending, and that he has another family member who was arrested for the same circumstance. Those charges have not been resolved in light of Duggar's arrival in FL. The judge basically said she wasn't aware of anything beyond Joseph's case (context clues: she was saying she doesn't care about Kendra's charges; she's only here to talk about Joe).

The judge then was silent for a moment and set bond at 100k for one charge, and the lewd and lascivious molestation charge (life felony) at 500k. 600k bond total. Other conditions: ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, no unsupervised contact with any minor under 18 years old. Next court date is April 20 at 9 a.m.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about attraction. It’s entitlement to the female body combined with the idea that males cannot be expected to control themselves. As with sexual violence against adults, child sexual abuse tends to be about power, not attraction.

$650,000. That is a chunk of cash. That would be 10% cash, and rest in assets. I am sure his family has that available. I can't believe he is allowed to go home to all of those children. No unsupervised contact. It seems to me that he molested the victim in front of others, under a blanket.

The lawyer at the hearing said that Jim Bob was in FL since Saturday waiting to bail him out. Unless the amount of bail (10% would be $60k) changed their minds, it seems like bailing him out was the plan.
