Just a heads up, If Washington county is doing anything like testing tire treads....etc

IT IS part of this case. Chipley only has 4k residents. How much investigating do they do.
there was a link upstream that said the FDLE is now in charge of the investigation

Maybe this has been asked ad nauseum, but I'm so scattered tonight with all these threads I've been following.

If the parents didn't work, why did they need a babysitter? How did they afford her? Did she do it for free? Or was "babysitter" a term used in place of some other relationship to the family in order to explain her presence?

Could this "babysitter" have insinuated herself into their lives in an effort to protect the baby? Pro bono, for lack of a better term?

If this is indeed the real SB, I really do wonder if there are some psychological motives at play stemming back to the events with her daughter and step-son and this is a means to some sort of self-affirmation. I don't know. Maybe she wanted a replacement daughter. Even her MySpace cites a relationship with her nieces and how "blessed" she was to spend time with them.

I don't know. I keep going back to all that, and then I remember Shannon is a product of a bi-polar mother who may or may not have said she disposed of her. I'm confused.

Ok, so Mom was on disability. I believe that dad was as well, but that has not been confirmed. The babysitter is actually relation to Dad.

Did you all hear the neighbor/godmother say that she's opened the door and walked right in unannounced? Sounded like it was a usual occurance to me and nothing out of the ordinary in their house. I'm still thinking that SB came in and took Shannon that morning out of their bedroom and they didn't wake up. I may have been something she did on a normal basis because the parents slept in late. That's why Tina didn't seem very upset when she went to ask the neighbor if she had seen someone at her house that morning. I think she called SB to ask her if she had Shannon and when SB said no she called LE. How else would she go missing out of her parents bedroom? I personally believe that her parents are not responsible for this. Everything I've read has given me the impression they were trying to comply with everything that was asked of them to make sure they were able to keep Shannon. I hope they find her safe and very soon!

Right - LE did surround the parents home. Folks were talking earlier about LE surrounding SB's home. That's not true, as far as I can tell. We do know they are looking at SB's gray van (or someone's van). It's so hard to find any tidbits on this case!

Maybe I'm missing something, but the Bakers home in Chipley...that is SB's home. If I'm missing something, tell me. I hate working with bad info.

actually reading the DFS report was reassuring... the case workers mentioned that she smiled at the family members and at appropriate times. I do wish they had a smiley pic of her though. O/T but it seems like often times (not always) when kids go missing the pictures are odd in some way or outdated, as if they didn't have many to choose from or something. Just my observation.

Thanx Melley..I feel better, kind of..

Does anyone else think that would be awully bold to take a child from her parents' bedroom at 9:30 am?

Very bold, but very believable. After following so many of these cases, nothing surprises me - unfortunately. :(

I would have until recently. I have some friends that have different hours than average. The dad works I guess what you would call second shift (?). Starts at 3 and gets home around midnight. Then they eat dinner and have family time. They have a 2 year old and she follows this routine as well. They go to bed around 3am and wake up around noon, which to me is just crazy, but that is their schedule. So, 9:30am to them would be "the middle of the night" to the rest of us. Does that make sense?

I would think she was born in Texas - that is where her family is from. I haven't found anything yet, but I'm looking.

Salem

Someone from the family stated that Christina (Tina) was born in Florida. They are all from Florida except a step-father who married Tina's aunt (he posts on the WMBB chat). He and his wife live in Texas and then the other family members moved to Texas as well.

I don't think the parents needed a babysitter at all. I am beginning to think that the babysitter inserted herself into their lives and tried to take over. She appears to be a opportunist and may have had other unsavory motives.

Sorry to pick apart your post...my comments in red.

Nobody said they did need or even have a babysitter.
How did they afford her?
See above
Did she do it for free?
Again above
Or was "babysitter" a term used in place of some other relationship to the family in order to explain her presence?
Susan Baker has used the term great aunt.

Could this "babysitter" have insinuated herself into their lives in an effort to protect the baby? Pro bono, for lack of a better term?

If this is indeed the real SB, It is the same SB I can show you photo proofI really do wonder if there are some psychological motives at play stemming back to the events with her Step daughter and step-son and this is a means to some sort of self-affirmation. I don't know. Maybe she wanted a replacement daughter. Even her MySpace cites a relationship with her nieces and how "blessed" she was to spend time with them. I bet they didn't feel as "blessed"

I don't know. I keep going back to all that, and then I remember Shannon is a product of a bi-polar mother NOT CONFIRMED who may or may not have said she disposed of her. I'm confused.

Hope that helps

"The News Herald newspaper of Panama City reported Wednesday afternoon that sheriff's deputies had surrounded the Florida Baker's Chipley home."http://www.clickorlando.com/news/21519621/detail.html

media reference of the house being surrounded.

Hope I quoted that right. The Bakers(SB & JB) home, not Shannons parents home.

This article that NMK posted does not state it was the parents' home that was surrounded. It states it was the Bakers' home.

Yes, the Baker home is in Chipley - Orange Hill Road and that is where SB lives along with James and the birds.

It was reported earlier on topix by a family member on the Dad's side that SB is Rusty's sister.

Maybe sitting was arranged with SB and she was already IN the house? Making an abduction not bold at all, but remarkably easy.

Nobody said they did need or even have a babysitter.

Who do you mean? She's been described as a babysitter for three threads now.

The mother was Bi polar, that was in the report from protective services.

can I post obits on here?

Ya, rumour has it that Rusty is the adopted brother of SB. Would love to see a picture of Rusty.

Makes TOTAL sense. When my daughter was little my then BF (her dad) worked these same hours, 4-12 got home about 1230am. our daughter would be up at that time we would spend time together get something to eat. we would put our daughter to bed and then we would go to bed, we would not get up till around noon, or sometimes even afternoon. Then she would take a nap when most kids are going to bed for the night. It was either get her on this schedule or she never got to see her dad because he would sleep late, and then she would be napping when he was up.

When he left for bootcamp I got her on a "normal" sched. and now she is in school and fine! I think whatever works is what you have to do. I don't find it off that the parents slept in till 11:30 if the never heard the baby cry.
