GUILTY FL - Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, 39, murdered, Orlando, 25 May 2018 *Husband Arrested*

Just watched the episode- you knew something was wrong with him the way he tore that house up.

Orlando man accused of killing wife ruled incompetent for trial

A judge ruled Tronnes unfit to proceed with his case in a Jan. 28 order after two medical experts conducted psychological evaluations on him, according to an online court docket.

This is a complete shocker - Dave Tronnes has gamed the system like Josh Powell - the master at saying absolutely nothing and got away with it. I think the state of Florida just wants this to go away as it is circumstantial evidence case and they have zero admission from Dave.

This earlier from Zaleski is a bare faced lie here's why -

"
Shuffling into court, a shackled and cuffed Tronnes sat next to Richard Zaleski, the man he wants to hire as his attorney.

But Zaleski says Tronnes’ money is tried up in probate involving the death of his wife. She has a young son from a prior marriage who also has rights to some of the assets.
"
Why ? because the Joint account held by Dave and his ex wife (1) held $500K approximately after Shanti's death. It is known he transferred $250K into it from Shanti's accounts so that $250K remainder must be controlled by Dave. But that was not enough to start paying his legal fees.

Looks like you can murder anyone you like in FL , grow a long beard , not cut your hair and then claim you are half mad.

The Judge should listen to the phone conversations where he is worried about his power bills and so on with is uncle and his mother. He's competent. He's competent to fleece his dead wife's account with the help of his ex wife Nbr one (I believe the money went via a joint account that they still had and then into a trust account that D T had set up just after the murder where she is a 1% participant. That arrangement was suggested by the first lawyers, Mendel and Greenberg).

Tronnes was just a promiscuous practicing Gboy in a hetero relationship !! where his wife found out from gay phone messages on his phone and threatened divorce and screamed about AIDS risk (this is secondhand from a jail informant but it seems quite realistic ). He stood to loose a lot so he strangled her with a power cord and smashed her on the back of the head and then tried to make it look like a slip in the bath. FFks sake - he must have dreamed up that idea down in the Orlando bathhouse.

Here's the rub. His DNA was all through the house . No witness. And he refused to say anything to investigators. Did not demand a lawyer... just went to sleep. He's see Josh Powell on the job and he used that as model.
He's also had a great advantage of having corrupt lawyers who sent PIs into the vacant house (based on his privileged talks with them in jail) and said PIs retrieved evidendiary items. Nobody has been charged over that. It stinks.

I know why too. Even if the PI says the lawyer asked him to do X , if the lawyer denies it - who can prove it. These items were later handed over to prosecutors - I suggest under a no prosecution deal. (the Bloody Sheet and the green power cord).

From the WFTV9 Oct 25 2019

This is from DNA evidence released in case of Delaney Park man accused of murdering wife
It can't get much stranger
"
Prosecutors in the Tronnes murder case made it known they had new evidence – bloody sheets taken from the home where Cooper-Tronnes had been found dead a year earlier.

"Certainly, it's unusual that the defense would have this evidence in their possession and not have turned it over earlier," said WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.

A private investigator working for the defense, Billy Lane, had been holding the bloody sheets for nearly a year without disclosing the evidence to police or prosecutors.

The sheets were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for DNA testing.

Test results show blood stains on a top sheet have DNA from David Tronnes and an unknown man.

DNA from blood stains on the fitted sheet match both Tronnes and Cooper-Tronnes.

"Prosecutors are going to say, ‘Look, the DNA from the blood on the sheets indicates there was a struggle between the two on that bed,'" Sheaffer said.

Tronnes claimed he found his wife in the shower, but prosecutors said the evidence doesn't show that.

Sheaffer believes the new DNA evidence backs up the prosecution's theory that Tronnes killed Cooper-Tronnes on the bed, moved her body and tried to clean it up.

As for the unknown man's DNA, Sheaffer said prosecutors will do everything they can to find out who it belongs to, to remove the defense argument that an unknown killer could have been in the house.

"
Blood from Tronnes and an unknown man.... boys and girls let me tell you how that came about - unnatural sex acts - An_l sex I am told leads to bleeding.

This is a disaster for the prosecution as it suggests that Tronnes let men into the house.
My guess is that Tronnes cached that sheet somewhere, to stop Shanti seeing it. Alternatively the house might have become a <modsnip> free for all once Shanti was on the mortician's slab.

Nothing shocks me about Dave Tronnes any more.

I agree 100% he is gaming the system. I hope "the system" is sufficiently robust to find him out and restore him to competency. If not he might either stay in limbo for years or quietly be moved back to the general population - he 's in no great hurry to be charged because all the evidence is against him.
Fun facts- the two lawyers who were running his case at the time that potential ligature and the the bloody sheet (separate removals) were actioned have never been charged with obstruction of justice. THe two private investigators who did the leg work I believe have suffered no penalty.

Let me add that our system is really easy to game- it's been done many times and will be done many more times mostly by criminal defense attorneys- it is too bad there has been no punishment for those attorneys for obstruction. Sometimes I look at our system and wonder when people say this is the best in the world- maybe it is: if that is in fact the case, I would hate to live in any other country.

Tronnes should come up for re evaluation regularly. However I don't know what the rules are in FL. From his point of view, while he has not been convicted he stands a chance of getting out .

There's a huge amount of circumstantial evidence. Someone cleaned up the shower, but n not well.. Bluestar showed a lot of blood had been splashed around and was caught in fine cracks and surface imperfections of the bath and walls.

The body was quite cold when EMS arrived.

The body was dry but Dave said he pulled her from the bath.

There is a suggestion that she took a call intended for him and found out he was having man t man sex and was very unhappy about it from the health risk to her point of view.
(I'm not sure if this can be proved). The type of injuries she had on her head are not consistent with a simple slip in the bath.

Best of all he used her money to do the renovation strip out but never put her name on the house title. it 's almost as if he either saw a divorce as inevitable or he intended to get back with his ex.

I believe that the state has eyewitnesses who saw him doing stuff down at the local Orlando gay boys' club.

I'd guess that any sane jury would find probable cause with all that laundry list. IF the state is going to procrastinate you'd think that Civil action lawyer acting for her son should elbow them aside and start a wrongful death suit.

Do you think it is the state procrastinating? it usually isn't the state, but i could be wrong in this case. I am amazed that this woman spent around 200,000 for renovations and her name was not even on the deed: i will never understand that.

LE have the following on Dave:
She had ligature marks on her neck
Skull damage not consistent with a bath fall.
Body not consistent with just being recently pulled ex bath
blood clean up.
Plundering Shanti's accounts in the days just prior to the murder.

So it is pretty clear, in absence of an intruder, that Dave has legal problems.
He might not be in a particularly good place now, but it's an alternative to LWOP after conviction (or worse penalty).

I'm also very suspicious of the manner of the ex wife and the way she kept a joint account open for years after their divorce.

error delete word prior. Plundering of the Shanti accounts was just post the murder/death. The transaction appears to have been legal as it was an "either to sign " type of account. That arrangement would stay in place even after her death I believe. Eventually her bank put a stop on the account.

I believe nearly all DT's money (including that which he "stole") was used up by the original legal representation.

======================
I found one reference on the web that suggested DT was now found competent as of May 2022 however I suspect it might be false news. Search on :

David Tronnes ruled competent, expected to face

or similar. THe problem is that every time you find the report it seems to be just a copy of the original report.
======================
Carole Tronnes was a minority shareholder in an LLC and associated account that DT that was formed after Shanti was murdered. Why would she agree to such an arrangement ? From DT's point of view it makes sense, as it is much harder to wind up the accounts if he is found guilty of killing his wife. Did DT work that out on his own or did he have a lawyer or accountant advise him to go that way ? the case gets stranger and stranger as you look at it.
