Yes, cam, I can see the slide now-I was looking for something bigger-the slide is small for more like a toddler.
I was aware of the zoom feature-I use IE and have it on the lower right of my screen-I usually read these pages at 125% because I just turned 40 and refuse to get glasses.......yet-lol.

can you see the slide now??

No, but I will take your word for it. That's kind of curious because I looked up on 411 site and found 2 men had rented the house. Then another poster said that it was 3 men living there at the time of the fire. So what the heck is there a slide in the yard for? That's strange, in my view.

We have a septic tank because we live in the country. Does 1080 Gano have one? I would assume that it has city sewer considering how low the water table is there. Or do they have holding tanks?

I still can't figure out the big machinery part at Gano. I would assume if the perp was doing something that entailed big machinery, somebody would have noticed that in the neighborhood.

If Somer had a friend that lived close to there, it's possible that she was comfy there because of the slide.
I'm still amazed that there is no chatter out there about this case.

Assuming all of this is true, I'm wondering if it was only her belief the other kids were picking on her or if they really were, and specifically what other kids? Her siblings or other classmates? Also, if this is true, I could see her stopping by the burned house, maybe playing or chatting with the workers. MOO

Probably some of both. That's usually how things work when you're a kid. The other kids were her sibs or kids from her school I believe according to anything I've seen on the news about it. I don't think its necessarily uncommon for one child to be scapegoated or picked on to some extent by the other sibs, especially when you have a situation where two can pair off against one - the older brother seems kind of out of that little triad. Different age, etc. You do kind of wonder why she'd be picked on as much though given that she had a twin. I thought twins were kind of more a pair thing (of course, I don't have twins, so I'm prob just oversimplifying).

On a separate note, I do think this is going to be an especially difficult loss for her twin brother, now and over the years to come.

I don't want to go into victimology with this situation too much because it causes a lot of strife here and won't necessarily be productive, but I am of the belief that this child was a little more at risk than some others her age might have been. There are reports of her being overly friendly, never met a stranger, that sort of thing. Of course, when you are talking about a seven year old, all of that becomes relative once you have an offender who has decided to target that child. Even in the most optimal situation, a seven year old is no match for an adult predator. But, predators do target the children they can offend against the most easily.

No septic tanks-city sewer.
Cam-do you know what the large propane tanks at Gano/Solomon are used for/hooked up to? Curious-you'd think they would have natural gas lines for the residents. Are the tanks for a business?
TIA

I think it would be very weird if two or three childless guys who were living there together put in a child's slide. But more likely the slide was left behind by the owner or another family who'd rented from them before.

Anybody ever find out the cause of the fire at 1080 Gano?
TIA

twall - really good ?'s about the tanks being operational and about the fire.

Thinking about the tanks made me wonder if there were any service people who would have been in the neighborhood that day. Utility, propane, some type of private service, whatever.

Also, how heavily trafficked is this neighborhood?

Good evening! I just thought of something regarding the absence of a 911 call. It probably didn't even occur to Somer's mom, but at least she won't have a 911 call dissected over the airwaves and elsewhere like happened with Caylee & Haleigh. MOO

What I find disturbing according to the MPR the officers did not call the file in to Reception until 2000 hrs, that's friggin8 pm. 5 hours had past

Hey everyone!

Tricia just posted a note on the front of this forum (it's a STICKY) discussing the posting of pics/maps related to RSO. Please go read. Perhaps it will clarify all of the discussions earlier today regarding this issue.

I agree with your thoughts. From what I understand about twins, I too think this is going to be very traumatic for Somer's twin brother. I don't want to cast blame on anyone, especially Somer's family, but if she did have a habit of running off from the other kids, maybe some other arrangements should have been made for picking her & her siblings up from school. Of course at the time, nobody probably even thought this tragedy would happen, but it seems the previous incidents could have given a predator the opportunity to see that she often was alone, and this particular day he struck. MOO

twall, I don't recall anything in the news pressers or media about how the 1080 Gano fire started. Just that the fire happened a few months before Somer went missing. Maybe someone else would know?

From what the police chief said the following day, I believe that they really thought they had a child who had wandered off to a friend's home. Sadly, this type of thing appears to happen with some frequency according to what he said. They figured out it was something else far too late to get mobilized.

I think that the length of time before they were contacted by the family led them to believe this was something that occurred often.

I know one of the firefighters for that area...just talked to him...he told me that their reports do not show the cause, it only shows the time arrived and time left...stuff like that....Fire marshall has to investigate and on and on it goes from there....he does not think that there is public record of fires that they deal with, and sad to say, it did not happen on his shift...darn it!! I tried
