You know, these predators are so crafty. If he was waiting at the park for instance he may not have even been in his car at the time. He could have sent her over to his car to check something out, to get something...who knows. Then once she was in the car, he could have jumped in and took off with her. There are so many ways they can lure a child. A puppy, a toy, the possibilities are endless. It's so sad.

All excellent scenarios alexandra! Or he could have been inside the door to his home and called out to Somer for some kind of help... or enticed her with a puppy or game etc. your right - they are so so crafty.

I can't really find records of missing FL children or unsolved homicides of FL children from the late 90's on in which there hasn't already been an arrest. Maybe someone has additional records.

hopetohelp - thanks so much for all the time and hard work in putting this together. Maybe the perp traveled from Pompano Beach to Jacksonville - wow, look at the ages of these children!

Maybe someone good with maps would put these children on the location they once lived to see if there is a geographical pattern.

Alexandra, I'm not sure who posted it ... maybe NotMyKids ... but not as many RSOs have had DNA taken as one might think. (that is paraphrased)

Was going to post something I heard on news but was not sure of statistics. Did a search and found this (not what I wanted which was about the number of states who routinely take DNA upon arrest) ... which will not make anyone happy.

An estimated 50,000 felons have been released from Illinois prisons or county probation without submitting DNA samples as required by law, leaving a gaping hole in the 7-year-old program designed to link known criminals to unsolved crimes.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-dna-crack-in-law-01-sep01,0,1218869.story

I pretty sure I read on Sowell's case they had to get warrant for his DNA.

Which make me think they have to get warrants to get the DNA from any of
Old timer (sex offenders).

LE has never said soot was found on Somer. Her father is the one who claims LE told him that. Until I hear someone directly involved with investigating the case say that soot was found on her, I'll take it with a grain of salt. LE has been extremely tight-lipped regarding any and all evidence, including condition of the body, cause of death, etc. So it would surprise me if they actually told her father that she had soot on her.

I believe what Somer's dad said about soot. I don't think he was to release that information....I was a little taken back when he answers some of the questions on NG.

I got to go shopping darn it.

But I want to put this out there. I wonder if there a place the High school kids hung out
in the woods around the park. kind like where casey friends hung out. that they might
start like a wood fire while they were hanging out.

Morning everyone. I read here allot thanks for all you do. Here is a link which has pictures of the items missing from Somer.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=147820&catid=3

Thanks for the link grandmaj,

Makes me wonder. Maybe Somer was taken by car from where she was abducted. If she had tried to struggle away from this person, she might have dropped the items she was carrying. She could have known this person, and got in the car, or was forced in. IDK.

is anyone but me crossing all their body parts in hopes that AMW will yield some productive leads??? This case just HAS to be solved...

I've even looked on e-bay and craigslist....and I'm starting to think these items don't exist. Two sites that I couldn't search tho were K-Mart and Sears...sites were down for maintenance.

Taking in consideration that the father didn't pay child support, and that there were four kids to send to school on her salary, one has to guess she did not buy her school supplies at an upscale store, and the kids lunchboxes may not be collectible. So, eBay and auction sites online may not be a good place to look.

I was thinking Dollar General or same type thrifty stores.

There's a "happy pig" character that is widely sold, but haven't found the design from the police sketch.

I still ask the question that makes no sense. Why would Somer walk up a private sidewalk to the gate of the house on Gano?

I believe that she was enticed up there. I just don't think kids walk up on private property for no reason. I think the idea of private property is there in a child of her age.

Think about it. Do children that age go on stranger's property for no reason? I can't see it. The children I know of that age simply would not do it. A 3 or 4 year old-yes. A second grade child , no. There was a reason she walked up to that particular house.

If it was a backpack, why didn't anyone notice it the night of the search?

And I still don't understand what they could take out of that bathroom because of all of the people searching that night. But then again, they weren't looking in the garbage, I imagine.

This takes down the theory that Somer could've gotten inside a dumpster and accidentally got trapped. Had she done that, the tote and the lunch bag should've been inside the same dumpster with her, unless she set them somewhere nearby to climb inside the dumpster.

Last night on AMW, I got the idea that LE thinks Somer went willingly with her abductor.
So she knew and trusted him/her....in a car???......MOO

  • #315
If someone snatched her in a hurry, (for instance, pulled her into a car) wouldn't it be likely that she would've dropped at least one of those items? The book bag wasn't a backpack type that is worn over the shoulders, so it could easily be dropped. Same goes for the lunch bag.

Good point. Unless the perpetrator/s stopped and picked up anything Somer dropped, which would be hard to do on busy Gano Ave. at that time of day, without being seen by another driver, kids walking, or residents.

This is what my dh said last night after show.. Maybe she hit her head in dumpster. I said well why are they calling it murder then?? Le has said murder many times I told him... I can't see saying murder if someone hits head and died. Has to be a reason to call it murder .. I would think any way..

I also noticed on the amw show that it was said the older sister ran after Somer but stopped .... I hadn't heard that before. I was so hoping our sweet PattyG would have amw uploaded today .. I just checked and it is not yet.. I hope she does upload it tho.. I did search on yt and nothing ....

If all this running started way back at the school entrance at miller ave. then I could see Somer slow down just before the house.. that is a pretty distance for a little one to run with the book tote and lunch box and it was still fairly warm there still I am sure..

I would think AMW would want to get correct information out to public. I have noticed on other cases as well conflicting stories on amw and the local news on cases.... I wish oh how I wish they would not do this..

I mean really the color of ribbon could solve a case.. just never know.. but so many conflicting stories who is going to call and accuse some innocent person if not sure of info put out.. I know I wouldn't...

I feel someone needs to stand up once and for all and get all these facts straight and announce to public the Correct facts... color of ribbon, real pictures of bag tote , lunch box, did sister run after her, where exactly was she last seen,,, tanks? burned house?? in a group of children??

Not to forget the blue car 10 days before and little girl on bike.... not to forget the rso on the mpr... I am sure there are more I am forgetting.. '

so darn confusing ...... so darn sad..... so darn should not of happened...

Rest In Peace Sweet Somer

I have thought that all along and I still believe that is what happened, may not have been that way but if someone was grabbing her she might have struggled and maybe yelled but for her to get into a car willingly people might not even give it a second look so thats why theres not much info coming around about seeing something out of the ordinary. I feel like maybe its a person that the mom knew in the past that knew the child and he knew ahead of time she would go willingly, le needs to look at every single person the mother knows or has known

It seems that it is consistent that she went to the house on Gano and stopped there. Kyle, a worker there, said that he spoke with her. Therefore, she had to have spent a little time there.

Since she did stop there and go up to the gate, Why? A few years ago I read an article on how to keep your property more burglar -proof. It said that if you put up a fence, it subconsciously says, "Keep out." Now I know that probably doesn't work with burglars.

However, over the years I have noticed in myself that property with a fence says, "Keep out, " to me. IMO it would say the same to Somer, yet she walked up to that house.

Unfortunately, we have absolutely no information as to what happened next. Somer's sibs were behind her. They would have to pass her to get home, I would imagine, but no one has given any info on that. If she did go across the street to the park, then they would have to see her cross, wouldn't they?

If they didn't see her cross and didn't see her after she went up to the gate, I would guess she went into the yard of the house.

If she went into the yard of the house, then where did she go?

Why didn't one of the workmen say which way she went? I would imagine that if you are on a work site, the last thing that one needs is the liability of a child around tools, etc. So, why no info on where she went?

I also asked the question of the Romeo and Juliet SO? There are plenty of guys having sex with underage girls. Why do some go to court for it and get a sentence? Not all go to court for it even though it has been considered statutory rape for over 40 years that I know of.

She could have willingly gotten into a car with someone she knew or kind of knew at some point. I don't think that it was a planned crime because no one could predict Somer's movements of that particular day.

If it was my child and LE truly doesn't have a clue, I would be beside myself with the lack of information and contradicting info. How can the public help with anything? They have no info to help with.

LE gets tons of info in these leads that is useless. My neighbor looks mean. That kind of stuff. They have to sift through it all and hope they can recognize something that is meaningful. That's why it would be good to have something meaningful to look at from LE.
