I've been meaning to tell you THANK YOU for the amazing work you did in compiling that list of abducted/missing/murdered children!!!!! Sometimes, lack of access to cable TV is a good thing!
When I get the chance, I'm going to look at the links you posted and see if a pattern emerges.
Great sleuthing!!!!:woohoo:

I posted these particular disappearances for two reasons. 1) the age of the girls involved. 2) the type of MO used by the perpetrator. Most of these kids disappeared after school on the way home, or from their own home right after school when they were alone (as if their abductor followed them). A lot of the other children were grabbed on the way to or from the store. I mean, I was surprised that there weren't really any cases of children nabbed while playing at the park (which is kind of a cliche I know), or out at large events, or at shopping malls (although Florida HAS had some mother/child abductions at malls, but that's a whole 'nother story).

I was thinking that in these cases, where a child is doing something very routine, that they do every day, it's almost like someone out there is looking for the "right" victim at the "right" time. So that person watches the types of activities where they are most likely to have an opportunity to get a victim alone. They watch the kids when they walk to and from school. They sit a few blocks down from the corner grocery and watch as people come and go. They know that sooner or later one of those children is going to pass by at a time when nobody else is watching. And I think that in these cases this type of offender is non-family and most of the time he lives or works in the neighborhood (although a certain percentage seem to like to move around certain segments of the country pretty often). But I think this type of predator is more likely to be a serial predator just because of the timing of the abductions. It looks kind of like hunting behavior to me.

Usually when the family has done something to the child, I don't know why, but they always seem to tell LE that the child disappeared from their home or their car (which seems a little counterproductive to me, but then, I've heard people tell LOTS of counterproductive and everchanging stories about what's happened to their children).

And... we've seen it on the news a thousand times. "A man broke into our house and took her." "a man carjacked my car with my kids in it." (I will say that legitimately there ARE times when an offender will break into a home to abduct a child when the family is asleep. It's not as frequent, but it definitely happens). But I think in this case it is more likely to be a serial predator because of when she was taken.

Even just thinking of situations where teen neighbors have killed kids in their neighborhood. It's typically during a time when the child is outside playing, not on the walk to or from school.

Lots of predators start early in childhood, picking on younger kids. I knew another one who was 18 and tried to get a 6 yr old to preform oral sex. This person was dating the little girls sister. So I wouldn't rule out late teens.

Insightful post!!! The teen predator that preys on children should never be overlooked - nor should their records be expunged. mho

I'm remembering the high school kids got out of school much later than grammar school...not sure of the time, it's back a few pages.

Actually, the high school kids get out much earlier than either the elementary and the jr high kids. What I'm saying is, the high school kids would already be at home when the elementary kids started walking home.

While I think that its more likely to be a serial predator, I definitely think LE needs to be looking at older kids who were home alone when the elementary kids were walking home.

Okay, this is just too weird...
*Warning graphic language*
YouTube- Somer Thomson Missing girl found dead.

Then I watched this one *listen to his wording and watch body language when he talks about character transformer dying.*
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheUncannykodiak#p/u/7/YKs8RlzYSQE

Maybe nothing more than very weird or...
Haven't been through the rest of his videos yet...maybe my hinky meter is just a little too sensitive but I've just gotta check it out...
Maybe he's just as outraged as we are and youtube is his outlet...who knows.
Anyway...just thought I'd pass it along.

thats interesting, and remember le states to be on the lookout of ppl taking an un useall interest in this case, might not be nothing at all but hey I copied the link and passed it on to clay county sheriff... my hinky meter sometimes needs adjustments too...

well thats very true but maybe one of them stayed home that day cuz a parent or parents were out of town? jmo.. stranger things have happened.. like the 14 yr old boy that put a dead young girl under his water bed...

yeah and ouch my hinky meter just went off maybe they had more then lunch on that day?? meeting at a restaurant would have been more appropriate if it was just lunch now I am thinking something different about meeting at home. hmmmmm?

the appropriate meter at that house needs a little tuning, in my opinion. I don't know what they are doing at lunch, and ultimately, I don't really care, unless it has something to do with the crime. And I just can't work out a way that the timing would allow for that. So for right now, I'm not really focused on that. Plus, I figure that if he really wanted to do something weird with the child, it's not difficult for him to get access to the family. Why wouldn't he pick a more opportune time?

I can't really find records of missing FL children or unsolved homicides of FL children from the late 90's on in which there hasn't already been an arrest. Maybe someone has additional records.

This amazing information tells us how easy it is for a predator to pick up a child without being seen by anyone. Also interesting how many of these beautiful children were just going about their daily routines - thanks again hopetohelp! :blowkiss: I've been putting these towns in Bing map for directions - seems the towns are either very close or a couple hours from one another. Haleigh and Somer need to be added to this list...also Adji and who knows how many others.

I do too, especially in light of a couple of recent cases where a teenager has been arrested for murdering a younger child. MOO

Even someone arrested may be back out, now, or have a convenient little hidey-hole in another state.

Yes it is in Fl, he lives in Fl...about 2.5 hours from Orange Park. If you go to his youtube channel and scroll down in the sidebar he gives his myspace page and two other websites. On the myspace page he gives his full name...it's KYLE!

I thought it was bad enough that this guy was filming while driving ... and he's filming kids which as a parent would freak me out.

His MOTHER is in the car with him ... you can hear him talk to her and her response ... is she filming the kids or is he?

I have no doubt that someone in Orange Park saw or knows or suspects something! I refuse to believe that little Somer went missing and was killed and no one saw or later found out something!

I think these were the people Sheriff Beseler was addressing in that press conference that day.

Someone knows, or suspects, (other than the killer) who committed this horrific crime.
A family member of the killer, a friend of the killer, someone who works with (or for) the killer, a neighbor of the killer, a girlfriend or boyfriend of the killer.

Time for some truth-telling and sharing here: Two years ago, my beautiful daughter was kidnapped out of her home in the middle of the night by her ex-boyfriend and dragged through the neighborhood to the nearby woods where her ex planned on murdering her, but a neighbor woman and her husband (they are both saints to whom I am eternally grateful) heard her crying in the street and called 911. The police were already searching for my daughter due to the 911 call she had secretly dialed with her cell phone in her pocket. Between the neighbor's 911 call and my daughter's 911 call (before she lost her phone when she was beaten half-unconscious), the police were able to locate her and she was rescued. Her ex ran off as the police drove up, but they apprehended him later that night - at his mother's apartment (who lied and told the police he wasn't there when they went to arrest him). Right up to the trial and conviction, this man's mother insisted her son was innocent and, according to jail phone recordings, was even willing to lie on the witness stand (by offering false alibis) to protect her son (even though she knew he was guilty). Thankfully, he's now serving a prison sentence for kidnapping and 1st degree assault, and will be required to register his address for the rest of his life. Thankfully, my beautiful daughter survived, and every time I hug her or kiss her or just look at her sweet, smiling face, I am grateful that she is alive.

One of the many things I learned from my (and my daughter's) horrendous experience is that people will try to cover for someone, even when they absolutely know they are guilty!

Someone knows something! Someone close to the killer. As far as I'm concerned, if they don't come forward with what they know or suspect, they're just as guilty.

Watching the whole sequence of videos you can see he just decided to video his outing and happened to be behind a school bus on the way home. His mom is in the car with him and they are talking about stuff. I think it's perfectly harmless.

Isn't that just crazy! Especially considering this...
The sheriff also asked for information about a blue sedan seen in the neighborhood 10 days ago. Authorities say the occupants, two men and a woman, tried to lure a young girl into the car.

Beseler said the incident happened within a block of where Somer was last seen Monday afternoon. He said that right now there is "no reason to believe that is connected to Somer."

I'm confused because I thought the incident 10 days ago was cleared up ...

I'm sorry, but I don't think filming children as they leave a bus AND POSTING IT ON THE INTERNET is harmless.

Yes, I was yelling ... but not at Chili ... just at Kyle C. (who of course cannot hear me)

ETA: I do know that if I were watching YouTube videos and saw my child getting off that bus I'd be freakin' out.
