Did the Sheriff say there were still waiting on forensics or hadn't reviewed all the forensic reports?

I have some free time and would do what I could. ;)

Did the sheriff say something? You mean I missed it?? He moved his lips and said something?

Other than listening to a retired FBI agent, Bessler and John Walsh's thoughts of who might have committed this crime, we do not know zip other than it is not an SO in the Orange Park neighborhood . Now do they mean they have checked out all SO's in Fl and neighboring States etc.? I thought all SO's in the US would be in a FBI file and they could easily check out prints ,DNA in the generic system....I must be living in a Hollywood World.

No, I think some people were just trying to see if any of the possible perps in earlier cases were out of jail when Somer disappeared.

Well, I have learned jacksonville, fl and surrounding areas have a nasty history.. as well as florida as a whole... I am sure more places are nasty also but wow I have been stuck searching crime in florida now for what 2 yrs. been so long can't remember..

I have noticed if I go on the national site for offenders I have been getting notices about some states at that time wasn't included in my search. I don't know if it is up to date or not but I don't care for that site..

and on the watch dog one I have gotten virus warnings when clicking on color squares to see the offenders..

I would like a good site to check them and feel save no viruses..

It's the wrong direction. Way wrong. We can't go back to other cases. There are thousands of cases. Focusing on just this one is the way to go. We have less than 100 real suspects and we have to narrow it down to motive and opportunity to kidnap Somer not all the other kids. Let's go back to SP and PC. They are more than 90% the killer.

I found a house on Briarwood Lane registered to an owner with the same last name as a cop that was working the day Somer vanished.

I don't know what's relevant anymore.....just waaaaaaay to many players.

I'd like to know that name!

the 10/18 is listed in the clay county daily bulletin report.

So would it be safe to say that LE is looking for a SO and only a SO? Perhaps this Killer is new to this kind of crime therefore not in the system. It is so...frustrating however I am now going to assume that this was a sexually motivated crime purely based on the fact that they have not disclosed it as such.

Maybe that was a clip from an older interview. I thought it was in one of the videos I tried to watch today. Something is wrong with laptop and I'd hear sound but would see no video, so not sure.

One thing that really irks me about this case, is that when little Somer went missing, and it was realized she may have been put in a trash receptacle somewhere in the immediate vicinity, and LE knew they wouldn't have enough time to search all the dumpsters before they were emptied on Tuesday, WHY didn't they just obtain a court order to HALT the garbage pick-up in the area until they could at least search all the dumpsters? Rather than congratulating themselves on their investigative genius to sit on their hands and follow the trucks in the hope that they might find some evidence.

If those dumpsters had stayed put, they could have brought in cadaver dogs and might have discovered the exact dumpster she was in (which could have led to the killer!).

IDK - maybe there wasn't time to get a court order before the pick-up occurred. But I have heard of cases when judges were contacted in the middle of the night to sign off on orders when the need was urgent enough. Court orders don't necessarily have to be issued from the bench or judge's chambers.
It just seems to me, LE has been two steps behind from the word "go".
Now it looks as if they're scrambling to play "catch me if you can" with this killer, and are blaming everyone but themselves for dropping the ball.
And would they even recognize a credible lead when they saw one? I mean, c'mon - out of thousands of tips, not one of them has yielded any kind of lead at all??!!
I find that hard to believe.

I think that's a safe assumption to make cathdawg - plus the fact that DT said she thinks it's a SO. That right there tells me she knows her daughter was sexually assaulted. I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but I'm not the dullest either. iykwim...

Herring, who has worked on other high-profile cases, said as cases drag on the potential grows for investigators and the agency to be accused of being inept or covering something up.

“Early on, you have a whole lot of public opinion in your favor,” he said. That support can disappear later.

“The public starts to get impatient,” he said.

Last week, a crisis-management team within the department began offering services to employees who may feel overwhelmed.

“I’m still optimistic — very optimistic — we are going to solve this case,” Beseler said. “Will it be in a couple of days? No.”

I hope they at least went back and looked at as many empty dumpsters in the area as possible after they found Somer's body in the landfill. Things may fall out of dumpsters when they are emptied or pieces of paper may stick to the dumpster and not be emptied.

Even now they may be able to re-canvas dumpster areas on the chance that the perp could have dropped something. Asking private property owners around the Gano Street area for access to their backyards to look for clues would still be a smart thing to do also.

I found another little Florida girl who isn't on the list I created before.

01-28-02 - Orlando, FL, age 12, Uma Sewpersaad. Disappeared on her way home from/right after school. Even though she's only 12, her page says that authorities think she left "of her own accord," and that she may have gone to Guyana. Huh?

Thank you.I don't think Dorothy Scofield is on there either.

Well, if the shoe fits, and all.
Several weeks ago I found a few articles related to the current Sheriff's election victory and his subsequent management of the CCSO. According to the articles I read, he hired commanders from outside the CCSO (friends from the State Attorney's Office) with less LE experience, rather than promoting in-house deputies who had more investigative experience. It seems to have created some bad blood in the CCSO and I guess several of the officers found it behooved them to seek employment elsewhere.

If these allegations are true, it might explain some of what has been going on with this case.
