One thing that really irks me about this case, is that when little Somer went missing, and it was realized she may have been put in a trash receptacle somewhere in the immediate vicinity, and LE knew they wouldn't have enough time to search all the dumpsters before they were emptied on Tuesday, WHY didn't they just obtain a court order to HALT the garbage pick-up in the area until they could at least search all the dumpsters? Rather than congratulating themselves on their investigative genius to sit on their hands and follow the trucks in the hope that they might find some evidence.
If those dumpsters had stayed put, they could have brought in cadaver dogs and might have discovered the exact dumpster she was in (which could have led to the killer!).
IDK - maybe there wasn't time to get a court order before the pick-up occurred. But I have heard of cases when judges were contacted in the middle of the night to sign off on orders when the need was urgent enough. Court orders don't necessarily have to be issued from the bench or judge's chambers.
It just seems to me, LE has been two steps behind from the word "go".
Now it looks as if they're scrambling to play "catch me if you can" with this killer, and are blaming everyone but themselves for dropping the ball.
And would they even recognize a credible lead when they saw one? I mean, c'mon - out of thousands of tips, not one of them has yielded any kind of lead at all??!!
I find that hard to believe.
