Good Morning to all....

Today is the big fund raiser in North Carolina.. It is from 2pm to 8pm I believe at the Fog Frogg Bar and Grill... thats 6hrs .. the Memorial in North Carolina was only posted as an hour.. from 2pm to 3pm.. That seems like a short time for a Memorial for this child Somer to be honored.. To me anyway.. I mean it takes awhile for family and friends to tell stories of the lost love one... and songs sung and then the Preacher to speak .. etcccc..

I would like to see the obit/obits for North Carolina very much.. again the one someone posted yesterday or day before was just couple lines and no family at all listed not even the father.. TIA

Good morning mommaD... thanks for your page (LOL)... lots of good thoughts. There will also be a fundraiser in Orange Park today. The RASP (Rockers Against Sexual Predators) will be at Town Hall in Orange Park - I think it's from 10a-4p today. I'll have to go look for the flyer & post the link.

ORANGE PARK, FLA. — Orange Park, FL - Somer Renee Thompson, 7, of Orange Park, FL died Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

A memorial service will be conducted at Riverside Baptist Church, 1568 East Harden Street, Graham on Saturday, November 14 at 3 p.m.

Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham is in charge of arrangements.

That is the whole obit of Somer in that Greensboro, n.c. newspaper..

I can't find anything else..
I am sorry I don't know why I am so hung up on the obits.. I have read the one from florida a lot.. and her memory books..

ETA: Maybe why it bothers me so about the obits, is that the date of death is Oct. 21, 2009... went missing the 19th and found in landfill on 21st. so parents are using that date as death because no death cert.. now when the death cert. is released to family and the real date of death gets out a lot of sites are going to be wrong on the web... it will be so confusing to future crime boards for posting info on this case.. jmo but kwim

I personally feel very strongly and blame the school district. These children should not have to be walking home.Especially elementary children. They are too defenseless and I do blame the school.I know people can abduct your kids any where. In around 1974 sometime some one tried to abduct me right in front of my house.I walked my children for many years to and from the school and bus stop. But not everyone one can do this. But we can try and make it safer for our children by having them not have to walk home from school.

The problem is, it is not known whether she was abducted on her way home from school. I personally doubt it happened that way - it is possible, but highly unlikely in my opinion. In any case, if the school district is not protecting our children (i don't trust the schools to teach, never mind protect) to walk home from school, then we must take personal responsibility for their safety ourselves and "can't" is not a valid excuse. Besides, who is responsible after they get off the bus?

Statistically, it is an overwhelming probability that this was done by family or family friends. Having male friends around young girls alone in a home in my opinion is a very very bad idea - much higher risk than a walk home from school in a residential neighborhood in broad daylight. It sort of amazes me that many people want to focus on the "perp" hiding in the bushes, when in almost every case, we don't have to look very far from home to find the "beast that did it".

I agree with most of what you have posted.... that said ... what about the crossing guards not seeing Somer that day at 2 of her crossings?? If what is true was told about her hugging them daily then I am sure they would of noticed no hug that day..

I just don't think she made it very far. no farther than the burned house on gano ave.. I really question the little boy what day he saw Somer around the tanks running with frown.. Could it have been a different day and it is just bothering him and he told his grandma he saw her at tanks???

I just can't fit the tanks and burned house together.. surely someone would of seen her if running and acting scared from the tanks to burned house and who else was there.. but maybe not..

I think we know very little and what we know doesn't come close to what really happened. In some cases we just aren't told and in other cases we are purposely misled. I don't believe anything about crossing guards or anything anybody says - they could have said they don't remember and that doesn't mean she didn't pass them or take a different path - especially if she was upset.

I am not really even commenting on the specifics of this case - just to say that it is much more likely this is something close to home and not some perv hiding behind a tree or in a car. Why would someone abduct a child in a car, then dump her close to home - is it because they like the thrill of possibly getting caught? Doesn't make sense to me. The only thing that I know for certain is what I personally see in interviews on TV and something just doesn't smell right to me and when I couple that with statistics that say it is almost always someone the child knows......

Thought I'd snip this little diddy out about today's Fundraiser:

There will also be raffle drawings, with prize values ranging from $15-$2000, throughout the day and a 50/50 drawing. It is free to the public...we only ask that you please make a donation to the family. 100% of all proceeds go directly to the family and will be presented to Diena, Somer's mother, at the event. IMO, I think the point that sadnpod is trying to make is that neither of the parents in this case were very good caregivers. The children were left to somewhat “fend for themselves”. ST gets a bit of a pass considering he was out of the country serving in the military throughout part of the marriage but it is not the public‘s responsibility to support him financially now while the police are searching for his daughter‘s killer. Why would there be fundraisers in NC? For what?

There seems to be history of failed marriages, infidelity and possible substance abuse on the part of DT. There also appears to be the possibility that CPS has been called in the past regarding the children being left on their own unsupervised and wandering around the neighbourhood. According to sadnpod, one of the children was successfully removed by the situation by their birth father. Now that this has happened to Somer, both parents, more so DT at this point, appear to be using this tragedy for their own personal financial gain. I find this rather distasteful and don’t think that DT is a very good spokesperson for the protection of children when the picture that is developing here is that she did a very poor job of protecting her own. I also don’t think it’s necessary for her to live off the support of donations and fundraisers to “find” Somer’s killer. I think the full force of the FBI and local LE is sufficient for this. Her focus at this point should be to help her children move on from this tragedy, not live it day in and day out with their mother going on national television to talk about it and making a career out of helping other parents to properly protect their children from predators. The children must also see the irony in this.

While this doesn’t mean that I believe that either parent are directly responsible for what happened to Somer, it does make me think that it was more likely to happen to one of these children due to improper supervision and guidance. And I do believe that some tall tales were told about the events of that day, particularly the reason for SP’s presence at the house, to try to put DT in a better light with regards to the supervision of the children.

IMO Somer did the same thing that day that she probably did on many other days. She wandered around the neighbourhood after school because she could. And she either met an unknown predator who was in the right place at the right time, or she became the victim of someone who had been grooming her for some time. Either way, her lack of supervision certainly seems to have helped contribute to her tragic and untimely death.

Could ST have had custody of Somer... even temp custody?? I have posted this before that I feel Somer and st were the only ones that connected on a real close bonding level... maybe dt and Somer had conflicts since dt did say her and Somer were alike.. so maybe that is why she was there 2 yrs ago. I think some are messing up time frames but giving close est.. for media etc..

Found this in news article from NC paper:

"Sam Thompson said Somer and her siblings briefly lived in Alamance County. She attended Alexander Wilson Elementary School."

I do get the sense that Somer had unique family conflicts from the various reports of her being picked on, offhand comments like one DT made in one of the videos about them calling her "Grace" because she was clumsy, etc. It reminded me of some stories I've seen where one child in a family is "scapegoated" while the other children are treated more normally.

I personally feel what ever happened to her was on the way home from school. But I do feel Somer possibly went into the house that was being renovated willingly with someone she possibly sadly trusted.I feel the person who hurt Somer were possibly the crew members or someone they knew that was renovating the house.I believe she was attacked at this house.Hopefully they went back in for more testing at this house and got more evidence to what happened to Somer.

I know this will be an unpopular post, but it is my hunch the killer is a minor. Obviously big enough to carry her little body to a dumpster. Or possibly the killer is old enough to drive.

Remember the movie "The Good Son"? Remember who killed little Maddie Clifton? Remember who killed Elizabeth Olten? It is possible... the kid might have not intended to kill her, just sexually assault her. But then things went terribly wrong.

I will end this post with this last remembrance - remember infinity's posts?

Nicely laid out theory Kamille! A couple thoughts - If a mom with multiple marriages is more likely to have her child murdered by a sexual predator, then that needs to be researched right now!!

Another fertile area for research: moms who fail to receive child support - are their children more likely to be murdered by sexual predators?

Regarding sadnpod - you use information from this person to make your argument that the children were neglected and therefore, more prone to be murdered. sadnpod gave us information that dad T. was disabled for life when, in fact, he told us on national TV that he was injured in a car accident and it was temporary. Quite a discrepancy between sadnpod and Dad T's. version of an injury. Wonder if the other proclamations by sadnpod are as one-sided and misinformed as this one...looks to me like there is an agenda on sadnpod's part!!!

You're right - it isn't in the public's job description to support mom or dad. However, if someone wants to do a fund raiser and wishes the proceeds to go to mom T, that's where it should go - don't you think? Who are we to interfere with that decision? mho

Afternoon cathdawg with your freshly stocked cupboards & stuffed refrigerator & freezer (I've got to stock mine today). I haven't heard of any adult other than DT saying it in interviews.
