Does anyone know how long WLK and DR were together... how long he lived in OP? Rememer the four girls who john walsh referred to? If WLK killed these girls, met DR, lived happily for X amount of yrs, she dies, he kills somer and disposes like he use to.... they didnt search the dump then. Couldnt he have thot it would still be that easy and couldnt he have used a house that they havent even checked and she could have just been easily accessible as well as the dumpster.. wish we knew where she came from.... I really think IMO she was in no hurry to get home.. that she didnt have to be there til mom got home... that she wanted her sibs to worry n get in trouble cause she was angry. I know these girls were never found.... was WLK around then?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the statistics are of sexual predators that progress to serial killers? Is this a normal progression? I guess anything is possible with these monsters imo. But generally speaking, I'm not sure if that's the "normal" profile of a sexual predator. Do they start killing at some point and then continue killing? Or do they normally not kill. I'm starting to think we may really be looking for a serial killer given the brutality you described. I suppose Somer's murder could be the 1st time for a new killer, but again with a level of brutality I would think that they would progress to that and not start off that way. But what do I know?!

i know a lot about garbage, but not about florida garbage, so i am guessing it's the same as here.

1. When you renovate and it's going to take a lot of garbage space, you rent a dumpster. You fill it up and the company that you rented it from hauls it away. They probably bring it to a construction dump place where they put the hazardous materials in a place, recycle what they can, and put in a landfill what is left. There is a huge fine where i live if yu dump hazardous waste such as asbestos or paint, etc.

I imagine it's much more true in florida because you water is right by the surface.

2. If you are a home owner, you are not allowed to dump construction materials in your personal garbage. You are supposed to bring them to an authorized place, whether that is a construction dump place or a land fill.

3. At our landfill, there are always workers there that direct you to where to bring your trash. They do not accept household garbage-orange peels etc. Refrigerators, furniture, etc. Sounds like that is what they have in op.

4. Garbage is big business and lucrative. Ours goes to another state to be used for fuel or something. I forget.

5. Construction dumpsters can only contain construction debris. No food, etc. That's why i think the gano house had their own household garbage can, unless the workers took their mcdonald's bags home with them.

6. The dumpster at gano was not emptied.

7. Someone on this site said that she might have been rolled up in a carpet. That makes sense. It would have been covered with glass and other debris from the fire, as well as soot, if we are to believe st's statement about soot.

8. She could have been put in a store dumpster, although where i live they are locked, i think. Or an apartment dumpster. I don't know that part. But she wasn't dumped from the gano dumpster. Or any number of other dumpsters that are available in op. I think le is mentioning about a car because she was brought somewhere else in op and dumped.

9. For sure the perp did not think that she would be found.

10. Carni workers that travel have lots of so's. Maybe not registered, maybe they are. But when they come to my city, we all say, "stay away. Don't go there!" in the past , they have been accused of doing improper things with teenagers.

11. Who did it? I don't know. Maybe teenagers who used the house for their activities and were aware of it. Maybe she was killed somewhere else and the carpet was used. Maybe they were familiar with the carpet in the dumpster. Or it was someone else familiar with the dumpster.

the soot is only rumor!!!!!

I do know about SO's and killing. They don't kill because they like it ( although I'm sure there are plenty that do. ) They kill to hide the evidence-the child. It is a progression.

  • #345
sadnpod-can you ask ST if he really knows about the soot? That would really be useful to know.

  • #346
NO, I cant go yet.... one more thing.. (maybe) LE has easily until the arraignment to charge WLK with somers murder? Does anyone know if he COULD be released on that date?

I have already.... he told me LE told LH who told him... and I dont believe it... she embellishes things... this I KNOW and i just dont believe LE would tell her that.
IMO this is a rumor and not a true one. She heard about a burned house on gano being investigated and I think she added it on her own...

or someone who has been in retirement so to speak and acted again when enraged over the death of his love....

death makes us all angry... and an angry sexual predator?????? who hadnt had his fix in yrs??? i dont think there is a word for that kind of crazy

Child killers are an entirely different breed of killers. Bureau of Justice is still compiling data on them and it gets very murky and complicated in terms of ages of the child victim, etc. There are gaps in their data between young children (5 yrs old & younger) and older children (15 yrs old and older). Statistics on the age range between is sorely lacking, unfortunately.

FWIW - most child murder victims are murdered by a family member/friend of family/familiar person. Not a stranger. Statistically speaking.

I wonder about a commercial dumpster shared by several businesses. Like in a strip mall where there might be a dumpster at the end of the lot and it's for all kinds of businesses. If any of them had somewhat minor construction done, might they get rid of the trash in it? Thinking they could get away with it?

My 3 ideas of perp:

1. A person visiting or a worker who was in the area and acted on impulse and didn't want to risk taking Somer elsewhere, but where did he kill her?

2. Someone who lives in the neighborhood and had been watching Somer and waiting to attack. Someone who did not think the body would be found. Killed Somer in his vehicle, the woods, or a home nearby.

3. A small group of really mean older kids. Maybe little gangster wannabe's.

If there was no sexual assault then I'll have at least one more suspect, but right now we don't know for sure, so I'm not naming anyone specifically.

Noway, I didn't mean to offend you, if I did, I'm sorry. I was trying to make a point about #3 above. If it were a small group of older kids that killed Somer, perhaps it could even be one of the groups Somer walked or ran right into. They could have followed her. If that were the case, of course they wouldn't tell LE they had seen her.

That was my point. Every reinactment of Somer's journey down Gano only mentions the siblings, the other child, and the construction workers as having seen her. No one else is mentioned even anonymously, such as someone else saw her here, Another witness saw her there. If information were coming anonymously and from a group of children or groups of children or even from those driving by, a perp could not easily know who told and remember everyone to go after them, IMO.

I realize a child has been murdered, I'm sick about it. And I realize that parents will protect their children. I was making a point with my questions. I realize it is sickening to think it may be a minor or a group of minors. Is it possible that one of the groups Somer passed were older kids with ..... something going wrong with them ??

There is the possibility that the workers at the Gano house dumped some of their materials in the OPAA dumpster across the street. The dumpster in front of the Gano house did look full. If Somer was in the park dumpster...LE used the park for a staging area I believe, it would be incredible to think that she was right there and they didn't realize it.

I haven't finished catching up yet, so if this has been said, sorry. I always thought if this was the staging area there is no way the dogs would have missed it. I think maybe she was found earlier than time released just to throw off the perp(s). It may not have been a hunch to "follow garbage trucks", she was never in one. Those construction dumpsters are lifted and driven away on a flatbed. So it would not have mixed with other household garbage and thankfully not compacted. Gruesome. I just can't figure out how someone could have left her there without being seen by someone.
Certainly no one who worked the construction site would have done so where it would lead back to them. But, I found the thought of someone wanting to shift blame there intriguing. Or just because they are usually lower without lids, maybe just for convenience sake.

This may be far fetched, but what if, she was not thrown in a dumpster or garbage container at all? What if the perp or perps hid her among some construction junk? And then some unknowing workers, scooped up the stuff, with Somer's body wedged between boards, or something and tossed them? Some scenario along those lines may explain why no one saw her being dumped. Just thinking .........

I question the theory of a group. Kids that age can't keep their mouths shut, and I believe one of them would have blabbed. If it's a minor, and it very well could have been, I see it being a loner. If Somer was in a pissy mood, she could very well have ticked somebody off, big time. (Especially someone w/raging hormones).
Could have been the reason for the frown at the tanks.

More than likley and how it looks and how tuba already relayed the info, the body of whomever the child is was dumped possibly locally there in Clay county then the trucks pick that up, move onto Green cove springs, that trash is then added to the other trash, then large haulers are used to move it all to the landfill in Folkston, Ga.

I cut n pasted this from forensics astr thread about somer. I think pg 2. So could she have been taken to green cove springs and dumped there? WLK's address at that time? and still would have ended up in folkston...

Good point about keeping their mouths shut. Hadn't occured to me. Well, that theory possibly helped to explain why no one saw anything, but falls short in the secret keeping department.

Before I tear myself away to hit that nice fluffy bed calling my name, I think it is very possible. I just don't see the killer having enough time to think that far in advance to "stage" something. Time was of the essence especially if he knew people would be looking for her by a certain time. I think it was a spur of the moment crime.

Chee, I agree with you that it appears to be a spur of the moment crime, and I will add that it may even be (though I doubt it) an accidental homicide, hence the seemingly hurried disposal of the victim's body in what we believe was a dumpster.

You were responding to my comment on the idea of a staged crime scene.

Inexperienced killers are, more often than not, known to stage a crime scene, and/or the victim's remains, in order to attempt to confound the evidence, and will naively believe (because of their inexperience) that LE will make certain assumptions.

The manner in which the victim's body was disposed leads me to believe the killer is inexperienced.

Just my two cents on this. A funeral professional is obligated to work with the next of kin. Now if the family dynamics is that which allows the family to work together that is great. But when the relationship is strained as this one seemed to be the next of kin who would have been the mother if she had legal custody would be the rule. Yes she would have signed the contract which also binds the Funeral Home to her wishes. I have at times seen this type of strained relationship. It is always our intent to try to involve all parties but have at times been asked to have 2 separate viewings for strained family relationships. His/hers. I hope this helps. It never helps the healing process when these strains push the parties farther away. But it is not unique.

I keep hoping she was found late Monday early Tuesday. But, if LE didn't want the perp(s) to know then they would have went through the moves of not having found her yet and following garbage trucks. With things moving along in the case so quickly early on, I can only speculate as to the reasons things may have hit a snag later on. Maybe I just don't like the idea of this poor kid lying in garbage for days.

I have been following this forum since the beginning of Somer's disappearance. I am a local in Jacksonville, FL and a first time poster. Prior to sharing my thoughts I want to make sure this goes through and looks correct. Give me a few to figure this out. I think I am ready to join the discussions.
