I keep hoping she was found late Monday early Tuesday. But, if LE didn't want the perp(s) to know then they would have went through the moves of not having found her yet and following garbage trucks. With things moving along in the case so quickly early on, I can only speculate as to the reasons things may have hit a snag later on. Maybe I just don't like the idea of this poor kid lying in garbage for days.

I think you must have meant late Tuesday, early Wednesday. 'Cause she wasn't report missing until late Monday, and LE didn't follow the trucks to Georgia until early Tuesday. Sorry, not trying to be picky. It's getting late.

Welcome, Just-Us! It is so good to have another local! Since you've been reading, you know how many questions everyone has, and how much we appreciate the boots-on-the-ground info.
Glad to have you, sorry it has to be under these circumstances.

I was trying to imply early morning hours of Tuesday. Before daybreak.

Okay, it looks like I have the posting basics down. I have been here reading all the threads and try to make sure to log in once a day to catch up. I found this site because I was so frustrated with the local media coverage and the fact that nothing new was being shared, just the same informtion over and over again. I have a son close to Somer's age and was devastated thinking that someone was this close in my neighborhood. I am less than 5 miles from Orange Park, so this hit close to home.
I have no affiliation with the family, etc but hope that me living around here may help bring other things into the discussion. I, like many of you, am starving for more information to be released.
I have been amazed reading through all the scenarios and things all of you have put together and am proud to finally jump in here and roll up my sleeves. You are all awesome and I admire each of you for the dedication you have to this case.

Just my two cents on this. A funeral professional is obligated to work with the next of kin. Now if the family dynamics is that which allows the family to work together that is great. But when the relationship is strained as this one seemed to be the next of kin who would have been the mother if she had legal custody would be the rule. Yes she would have signed the contract which also binds the Funeral Home to her wishes. I have at times seen this type of strained relationship. It is always our intent to try to involve all parties but have at times been asked to have 2 separate viewings for strained family relationships. His/hers. I hope this helps. It never helps the healing process when these strains push the parties farther away. But it is not unique.

Thank you so much Grandmaj, that answers a lot of questions.

Oh, Houndstooth, I'm sorry, I thought you were just sleepy like me. I get what you are saying. I think I'll stop posting for now and just read along. Night everyone.

I have been following this forum since the beginning of Somer's disappearance. I am a local in Jacksonville, FL and a first time poster. Prior to sharing my thoughts I want to make sure this goes through and looks correct. Give me a few to figure this out. I think I am ready to join the discussions.

Just-Us, what is the area saying? They don't seem to be saying anything? Are they so inured to this that they're blase'? I just don't get it. Someone said that it seems there's a gag order on everybody in the area, and I couldn't agree more. Where's the outrage? Is it there and we're just not seeing it? Is there any local gossip that you will share with us? Has NOTHING leaked?

I don't know what the plus sign means.

  • #375
Me too, neither, LOL

I don't see a Plus sign next to anyone's name logged in. Is it just me? Do you guys see a plus sign?

Doggies- I agree that it seems a gag order has been placed here. I have not heard one single thing that has not been covered in the vague media (yes we do have journalists and it does not seem that they know how to dig stuff up) or here on WS.
I personally have an assumption of WLK or an unknown local.
Green Cove is not in the same neighborhood, but also not very far either. Maybe a 20-30 minute drive from the Jax/ OP line.
BTW- this is an interesting (but vague) article I found. If someone else already posted it I may have missed it:
