We have now received 4,200 leads and detective teams continue working to follow up on all remaining workable tips. We remain hopeful that (and paragraph ends).

Imagine having to wade through that many tips. No wonder they have so many agencies involved (FBI, FDLE, U.S. Marshal Service, and NCIS).

Is this the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and why are they involved? I didn't know they got involved in civilian investigations. YES

Google and your question shall be answered:

How does NCIS work with other law enforcement agencies?
NCIS frequently works with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, but specializes in crime within or directed against the Department of the Navy. Like many other agencies, NCIS is a primarily civilian agency that handles felony crime and domestic counterintelligence. However, given its diverse global mission, a significant portion of NCIS' investigations and operations occur in overseas venues, where the agency is engaged with foreign law enforcement and security services on a daily basis. NCIS also deals with many issues traditionally associated with other agencies, such as overseas counterintelligence, firearms and explosives, customs violations and immigration, fugitives, environmental crimes and protective services.

Infinity,

Is there a link to the part about Kyle being underaged and wanting to become LE? I missed that ... if it's in this thread, let me know. I'll go back and read again.

Is was in about the 3rd or 4th thread, when folks first began to confuse him with a RSO.

I didn't realize it was fact. I thought him being underaged helper was someone's theory but thank you and I'll be in Thread 3 ...

I noticed the sentence ending without completion,
I wonder if the Perp is in the Navy ..... I wouldn't think they would be involved unless they have reason to be. Just like NCIS. Maybe the dumpster was on a Naval base?

what branch of the service was ST in?? If it was Navy(i don't think it was) or Marine Corps maybe that is why they got involved to help solve the case. He was honorably discharged from service, correct?

snipped by me.
I don't remember him being underaged. I thought he was 20 yo.

I will go back and try to find the post, I recall the poster saying that he was still in school. I think it was speculated that he might be underage since even the reporters seemed to be rather closemouthed about him. I hope it's still there!!

4,200 leads in Somer Thompson investigation

Investigators say evidence is still being processed at a lab. "Waiting on lab results is part of this process," said Sheriff Rick Beseler in a written release. "The results can take weeks to return and cannot be rushed or hurried because this is information that will point us in the right direction and tell us where to go."

I just thought of something so horrible. Maybe LE don't have a cause of death and is waiting on toxicology. Maybe Somer died of an overdose. That's the only time that tests take so long.

Is was in about the 3rd or 4th thread, when folks first began to confuse him with a RSO.

The only Kyle I could find who has a connection to the construction company which worked on the burned house is a 19 year old who hopes to go into LE. I never found out if he was the Kyle at the Gano house though.

Could be DNA or something else and just be taking so long because of the high volume of tests requested.

Cathdawg, the earliest mention I found of Kyle was in Thread 6. So I'm going there ...

Within my crazy mind I just had a thought, what if the Perp was in the Navy and was staying a Hotel/Motel in O/C. Placed her body in the hotel Dumpster.

My opinion on this is.... NCIS is involved because it happened right outside of NAS JAX....

I'm as guilty as the next for sleuthing peripherals in cases but I wish people wouldn't post real names, etc.

The Sapp person mentioned several posts ago is not related to D. Sapp in any way that I can find. DS is an only child.

Crystal Cummings' husband and SP's ex-wife related? Nope. I sure don't see it.

I also can't see how SP can be in any way a suspect - he just did not have the time IMO.

So I wish this stuff - especially regarding his ex-wife - wasn't being posted.

Nov 18, 3:47 PM EST

Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said Wednesday the investigation "is not a cold case...not by far."

A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office says the agency is hopeful evidence currently being processed will provide a more streamlined direction for investigators.

Hotels have surveillance cameras. That would be sort of risky.
