I would have to know how she died.Sexual assault?I don't know which way to go with this. Was she really shot in the head?Has any one heard anything.I have always thought someone or someone associated with the crew members fixing the house killed Somer. But she could have left there after the crossing guards left and someone else picked her up.If she was not sexually assaulted the only other person or persons I can think of is the girl?Somer got in a fight with at school?Does any one know what happened?Who was the instigator?Somer?the other Child?I know most of the time the problem with another child might be an on going situation.Who were the parents, friends of this other little girl. Also Who was the lady that said to check the dumpster at the Gano house?I also find that very interesting. Why that dumpster?

You have a good idea. I've kind of wondered if somehow her death may have been accidental. Maybe she somehow got somewhere and accidentally ended up in a dumpster.

It seems strange that this young child could disappear so fast - no reports of a car being involved, no one heard screams, no definite abduction scene, no definite reports of sex offenders involved, no one saw anything out of the ordinary, yet this girl is traced to a local dumpster. What the heck happened?

compacted maybe, but we know she was mechanically moved from trash bin/dumpster to gtruck, mechanically moved to transfer station, and then mechanically moved to semi trailer, then mechanically moved to dumpsite in folkston.....

yes, she was crushed, tossed, and mixed with garage, over and over again, til she ended in folkston.. we have no idea how much damage was done to her little body after death...at least I hope it was all after death..

The horrors! That may have been the normal procedures. But, I think the trucks went staight to the landfill. I recall seeing a video of the trash trucks themselves being logged as to their pick-up area and directed to different zones for dumping. This was NOT a line of semi's. The idea was to NOT mix in with garbage from other areas. So I would say it is more than likely she was not compacted in the way you are describing, nor mechanically moved. I have stated before what I think was accomplished that Tuesday morning. LE was smart about it.

Ms Suzanne, you bring up some very interesting points. I too have wondered about the altercation Somer had with a classmate. I feel this could very well have something to do with the demise of Somer. No on purpose, but maybe things went too far & the intent was not to kill her, but to scare her. In regards to the rumor of Somer being shot in the head, it is just that - a rumor. I know someone who worked at one of the fundraisers & this individual told me that was a comment made on more than one occasion at the event... that's why it is a rumor - not a fact. The lady who said check the trash is suspect as well. Either that woman saw something suspicious or is psychic.

I have worked in the trash industry for some time. Most states and cities have laws requiring that the hatch or compaction door on trash trucks be closed when they are in motion on major roads. So depending on when she was actually transferred into a truck, and how much was put on top of her, she would have been compacted in some capacity.
Those that are open topped semis, must be covered, to prevent "spillage on the highway", and considering the penalties for this seemingly minor offense, most employers are strict about making sure the rules are followed.

Just bringing the details as reported by AMW to the surface for a refresher

Somer left Grove Park Elementary School, where she was in 2nd grade, at 2:50 p.m. that Monday, and was walking home from school with her twin brother, 10-year-old sister, and some friends.

Cops say Somer and another child got in an argument and Somer ran ahead of them.

At some point the kids lost sight of her.

Somer's siblings arrived home safely at about 3:05 p.m. expecting to find her there, but no one would report seeing her alive again.

Her mother's boyfriend, Sean Patton, was at the house and asked the children where Somer was. They said she walked off.

Sean and the kids searched for Somer for an hour. When Somer's mother called, Sean told her Somer had not made it home.

She left work immediately and spoke to a Sheriff's deputy to report her daughter missing.

It is of course, mere conjecture on my part, but, I think her body was found earlier. I don't think she went to the dump at all. However, I DO believe the dumpster was kept separate in order to filter out any additional evidence from that container. I no more believe that they followed the dumpsters on a hunch, any more than I believe they sifted through 1000's of tons of garbage to find her. Both of which were stated. For good reason I suspect.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, crews brought in a digging machine from the State Fire Marshall's Office to dig at various parts of the property and to lift heavy objects, according to officials. This is the area where 7-year-old Somer Thompson was last seen. FDLE agents are working overtime at the home, searching for evidence.

Dressed in protective white suits, several agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement sifted through a dumpster several blocks from Somer Thompson's home.

"On this side, it's pure pandemonium," said neighbor Andy Carlson.

Andy Carlson watched the search with his sons. He said it's strange seeing this type of thing in his neighborhood.

"I'm not used to all these cops all over the place," added Carlson.

Investigators collected evidence and also searched inside the vacant home at 1080 Gano Avenue. Police say the home has been empty for several months since a fire.

Carlson says the home was being renovated: "You can see in the windows, it's gutted. It just has two by four framing."

A woman, who did not want to be identified, tells First Coast News' Monica Landeros she asked investigators to search this vacant home and dumpster on Monday night.

She says, "I'm upset. It's like, should I have looked, should I have gone in the dumpster?"

Meanwhile, neighbors hope Somer's killer is found soon and wonder if any clues are inside the home.

"I really hope there is not somebody in this neighborhood that could do that to a child," said Carlson.

Somer's mom said she knew the home on Gano Avenue was vacant, but added that she never had any concerns about the home until now.

Do you think by not publicly clearing the family/friends, the Sheriff is playing with the creep's head? Making him wondering just how close LE is to catching him?

The whole non-profile/profile is designed to play with his head. What they gave at that presser wasn't a profile, it was designed to make someone think they magically know who the person is. All they gave were general characteristics that some people show after they have committed a crime.

He may grow a beard or shave it off, he may become religious or stop, he may leave the area or not, he may hide his car or not, he may start to use drugs or stop, and so on and so on. All this is designed to do is make the person think that no matter what behavior is exhibited it is going to make him known and thus make him paranoid and nervous.

By not clearing the family publicly, LE knows the natural response is people will gravitate toward looking at the family, they may want the perp to become comfortable that people are looking toward the family and not him. The whole finding her at the landfill was not luck . In cases like this everything LE does is almost scripted by the FBI. I think they want the perp to think it was "luck" that they found her in the landfill. They want him to think they aren't smart, they want him to think they have no idea and just have to be "lucky" to figure it out.

Everything they say or don't say is completely controlled. Every move they make is designed to perpetuate momentum in the case, and they base their actions on what has happened in previous cases. We don't know what happened to Somer- they do, and I know for a fact they do have a clue and what they are doing is calculated and controlled by the FBI. Local LE doesn't have the resources to deal with cases like this. These cases are few and far between, and require the help and expertise of people who only deal with these most serious situations.

Maybe they think this person tried to cover evidence in an unsophisticated manner? like he watches CSI or something, an experienced SO wouldn't exhibit any behavior change, because they don't care and they aren't concerned about being caught. They aren't smart, except like an animal is smart- they walk among us, they see people as "opportunities" not people. The whole non-profile thing makes me think this was an unsophisticated killer, and the No information thing also makes me think they are trying to make him nervous. LE doesn't talk much during an interrogation, they let people do the talking, because if there is a silence, people try to fill it in. If you ask any detective they'll tell you, if people would just shut their mouths, a lot of them wouldn't ever be caught, loose lips sink ships. They are NOT saying anything because they want the perp to want to wonder what information the police have, and perhaps he will then interject himself into the process.

I doubt DT had anything to do with this. She may be guilty of some bad judgment, but I don't think she did this. When LE suspects family, a lot of time they will come out and publicly say they can't clear the family, and hence put pressure on them. This is all a mind game, one that has been shown to work because unfortunately, this scenario has happened before.
All this is MOO of course.

However, there has been no LE confirmation that the Gano address is THE crime scene.

Snuffy - (Yes I call you that behind your back). The voice of reason. I am so glad to see you.

Psst - I hope you don't mind that I affectionately shortened your hat. But Snufamonabobball takes like 5 minutes to type.

Correct-o-mundo....ONLY the media ever labelled it a crimescene seems they left out a key word "possible".

Just surfing thru old news reports....Interesting - this guy - the one that changed his name in the past (this is him right?) - was interviewed by the media more than once no? I say that because I don't recall seeing THIS video of him before but one different...(he was first in line for the service and he hugged DT right in front of Somer's casket)

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=49320657001

ETA: right after him speaking with the reporter they interview a 'KT' - says she searched for Somer with friends - would that be this guys daughter???

Holy doodle kids! I didn't realize how involved the neighbor RO'C was with things going on behind the scene - so to speak - seems he helped gather up & tag all the toys & bears etc...that were left at the makeshift memorial site - to have them distributed to other children:

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=49320656001

HE too appears in more than one news report - does he not??

Someone mentioned that the house next door to Somer's had a new roof put on -- first time I heard that, but there would have been roofers for Somer to talk to ---

was it RO'C's house that got the new roof?
