Somer Thompson's neighborhood remains on edge

Crossing guard Jim Woolsey, 69, recalls getting hugs from Somer at his post at Grove Park Drive and Gano Avenue. Woolsey said he didn’t find it unusual when he saw Somer’s siblings, but not her, the day she disappeared. Now he doesn’t hesitate to ask if a child is missing.

“If I know brothers or sisters and there’s not the brother or sister there, I ask whoever is here, 'Where’s your brother? Where’s your sister? What’s going on?’ ” Woolsey said.

Gonzalo Floyd, 38, lives across from a large propane tank where Somer’s siblings said they last saw the little girl.

And the last month of the year has begun with no suspects, no justice, no resolution of any kind.
Hopefully, the new year will start differently.

I apologize for not keeping up, but is there any new news with Somer's case? are we any closer?

Dee ,,, Do you find G. Floyd's words different from others? He called Somer's murder a slaying... I find that odd. am I just reading it different?

Floyd said activities in the neighborhood, such as ball games at the athletic association, have continued. But he said the slaying has also shattered the sense of security area residents once enjoyed.

I hadn't read or heard in a video Somer was slayed or slaying .. am I jsut reading to much into that interview from that guy?

I understand slaying to mean a killing, often violent.

Since the sheriff said it was a heinous crime, I'd say it fit.

ETA: LOL, I see not my kids beat me to an explanation.

December is here and still no word.

I know I get carried away with my sleuthing...say and think things I probably shouldn't. Maybe we all need a reminder of just why we come here everyday, I know I do.

Respectfully snipped by me.

You sound down, it makes me sad to hear it. I don't like to see good folk beat themselves up needlessly. Hang in there sweety.

"Slaying" may have been the choice of the author. It is not in quotes.

I agree, it is odd terminology but to me it sounds more like "journalist speak". As if a reporter was paraphrasing something that was said into his own words.

“Deep down, we all know there’s something wrong,” Floyd said. This is another odd statement IMO.

I decided to light a candle for Somer, my way of keeping focused. You all can join me if you'd like.

Justice for Somer

I just did. Thanks. I also prayed that they kill her killer today. I'm in that mood. I was praying last night that the cop killer was killed and it worked. So why not this monster?

Unfortunately... and sadly... NO.. hopefully LE is..

Oh, thank you thank you thank you!!!! I spent HOURS last night looking for this exact video. There is someone else on here that I wanted to ask my fellow sleuths to look at with me. At the 2:23 mark, there is an LE to our left. Does that seem to be a scratch on his right arm (left from our perspective)?

Someone brought up last thread about the possibility of the perp being an LE person. I hope not with all my heart. But that brought this pix to my mind. What do you all think? Does anyone know this man?

I hope they have searched this LE. And the male crossing guard and the neighbors.

Everyone is a suspect.

Yes, I thought they were both odd statements... a slaying?

Out of the entire article, that's what stuck with me.
I always look at word choices. They tell you something about the person speaking.

To say there's something wrong implies more than the obvious to me.

Of course there is something wrong, a child killer is at large, possibly amongst them and they don't have to dig deep down to know/feel that. They are all on edge, I'd think.

So his statement implies more. What exactly, I don't know.
