Well since it is so quite I would like to look it why during the first press conference that DT did with the sheriff he thanked the press and said somthing about respecting the fact they did not interview DT cause they where still tring to get some info from her in the first few days.. I dont have the exact quote.
If she was at work then left right away and flaged down LE what info was there to get that took so long?

FYI, is this old news? DT's letter of thanks, post on rememberingsomer.com site . Dec 01

http://www.rememberingsomer.com/profiles/blogs/letter-of-thanks-from-diena

LOL. I get such a kick reading posts here sometimes. That is in response to your post below.

This is in response to the current post. Yes. She wrote that like a week after she went missing, I think. It is just another ODD thing to write. Too much emphasis on what people have donated and not enough devoted to Somer in my eyes. But, maybe I am being to harsh in my reading. What was your take on it?

I know the question wasn't for me, but I like to butt in.
It was right after the body was found that letter was written. It was not about Somer, that letter was specifically written as a media release, to thank the public for the donations, the time, the prayers, the volunteers. It was about being grateful for help...not about the person who killed her daughter.

I see nothing wrong with her being able to be devestated and simultaneously grateful that she didn't have to deal with the devastation on her own. MOO.

I don't read too much into the exact words used in news stories or TV interviews. I have been interviewed for both, and I am trying to sound smart and not stupid. They don't give you time to think ,and then I've said whatever, maybe not even close to what I mean.

They cut lots out, especially in TV. With the newspaper, the reporter puts in his slant and then tries to fix it up so it's interesting reading. IMO.

I think that you have to take the other things said in the beginning like "what you have done to me and my family" vs saying "what you have done to my daughter" and all the other quotes put them all together on one page for some to see the big picture here. After all the criticisms in the early days she did turn that around in the next interviews but little to late.

Who are the people that are involved in Somer's live. Whether there had been any new people around the home/neighborhood/etc. Whether D and Bio dad had any ongoing disputes (ie if she thought he may be responsible as in parental abduction). In addition they would have spent the first few days checking the backgrounds of ANYONE and everyone who may have been around Somer.

Wow, this case could be very similar to Somer's if we ever find out.

FYI, interesting to say the least. I had never heard of this case til now.

I remember this case vividly. Unbelieveable. I always wondered if his father had done anything terrible to punish him.. that he was so scared to get in trouble that he resorted to this horror...

It was sad... so sad.

December is here and still no word.

I know I get carried away with my sleuthing...say and think things I probably shouldn't. Maybe we all need a reminder of just why we come here everyday, I know I do.

I decided to light a candle for Somer, my way of keeping focused. You all can join me if you'd like.

Justice for Somer

Somer,
Someone remembers, someone cares;
Your name is whispered in someone’s prayers.
~Author Unknown~

Thanks for this Chickadee...it's very peaceful. Clicking on a candle and leaving a message was difficult - I felt overwhelmed for the family.

I just emailed the reporter jacksonville.com and asked him why there is diddly squat re Somer and that surly a crime reporter such as himself could sleuth some news up. ie like who is Kyle? Has the family been cleared, what time did the workers @ Gano cease work that day, etc. Now we will see how good he is. LOL

There is really no difference YET in Version III and Version IV of the Facts list. (ETA: Now there is!)

When I make an update or edit, I'll put a star in front of the entry. :star1:

Wouldn't you just know it? When I was looking for one thing yesterday, I found something else. This is from Thread#16...Momtective
From FOX NEWS, Fla. Auth. Searching for Girl 7, Who Vanished After School

Same exact description of clothing (followed by this in Momtective BOLDED)

Backpack is BLACK with pink and white skulls and crossbones.

A photo is featured for a few posts of a backpack matching that exact description.
There is no mention of hearts for this interview. In retrospect it makes the differences more notable against the sketches released.
I think I recall another interview where D. herself in response to a question from media says "It was a Hannah Montana". So that is not a mix-up by media. That was from D. herself. I got the feeling from the beginning that it was she who was giving a differing description to ABC, NBC and CBS affilliates.
That was why it varied depending on who's story/video you were looking at.

If you want to add that to your list, as a recording the changes that this item went to for posterity, this one was not used before. From the pink and black "hearts and skulls" description given somewhere else there is another one by JanSport pictured that looks like THAT too, if you go back in the threads. TIA

Hmmmm, so did LE find these items and were just trying to mess with someone? I recall that DT did not know what bag/pack Somer had that day as she said she left for work prior to Somer going to school.

I think they can gather that info at the same time as having her doing interviews

This is one of the things she said that had me scratching my head.. I word I'll = I will. It's like saying I will go to the store. In the future
I would think a person would say "I miss her"

BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: In the middle of hundreds of people holding hundreds of candles, Somer Thompson`s mom, Diena, huddled with others in front of the vigil set up for her daughter.

DIENA THOMPSON: I love her and I`ll miss her!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Diena thanked volunteers and even offered to pay them back for their efforts.

DIENA THOMPSON: I don`t know how I can ever repay any of you for helping me -- for looking for my baby!

If she didn't know, why on earth put out 5 or 6 different descriptions?

I was trying to figure out what was up with the sketches given 3 WEEKS LATER. It took 3 weeks to settle on an 'exact' description? And then to add if you find this, you find the killer had those things. Even an 8 year old would see holes in that for logic. So then you ask yourself, what could be the REAL reason. It seemed to me, they were putting it out there in front of the whole country, to see if this is describing actual items. Because they can't find them. They were not thinking that someone in Lincoln, Nebraska, or Bangor, Maine could be looking for S. missing items. But, only to figure out whether they were being led on a wild goosechase looking for items that don't actually exist.......AS described. Again.

I am a bit dim today , is this video prior to Somer's body being found? TIA

Yes I remember that case also. Gee 10 years ago seems like yesterday. at least they found her and solved the case. So many of our children, WHY?

I'll always remember Riley Fox's case to. Such a sweetheart. Still unsolved. Her case is on tonight on E channel at 9pm.

I eulogized my daddy with "I'll miss him." It signifies the chance for all the memories you could have had.
There is such a thing as overanalysis.
