With the initial news report that Somer was last seen at DeBarry and Gano, I wonder whether there are people who did see her but thought what they knew was not important. I do hope they have come forward now.

O/T

OMG I am horrified. How does this happen to someone?
What makes a child do this to another child, his own brother.
I sit here just stupified and sick over the whole horrific event.

ETA: where is the disconnect? When and why did this kid's switch get disconnected from all of humanity? He said he's had these feelings since eighth grade. What could happen to someone for this to happen, for them to disconnect and become this?
Sorry if my ignorance is showing here. Don't know a lot about mental health and I am sincerely curious about this. Anyone who can shed some light TIA.

I'm not sure that anyone knows at this point in the world of mental health. On the thread about Elizabeth Olten (9 year old who was missing like the next day after Somer in Missouri), there are several links posted to teens who have killed for no apparent reason. Elizabeth was apparently killed by a 15 year old neighbor girl who supposedly wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. The trial hasn't started, so it isn't known from official trial testimony.

Some kids have been abused, but that doesn't explain it all because not all abused kids turn into murderers.

Since no COD has been put out, I'm not even sure that the parents would be given that info. Loose lips sink ships and all that.

I am still having a hard time believing this was a SO

After the body was found before the offical ID the sheriff come out and when asked about the fear in the community stays be just live your life and be careful cant let the bad people in the world change ur life blah blah blah
If she had her clothes on and they did not think a SO then it makes sense
If it was a kidnapper or SO i think they would have said be in guard... or somthing more protective of the children walking to school
http://www.news4jax.com/video/21367199/index.html

When you use the term "SO," do you mean registered SO - someone who has already been arrested and convicted for a sex crime, or by SO do you mean anyone who has a history of molesting/raping someone(s) else?

Because while I think that its very possible she may not have been killed by an RSO, I think the person who killed her is an SO - that they have a history of offending, even if they have never been found out before by authorities. This may be their first murder though. If LE didn't think there was a sexual offense in Somer's case, they'd be looking closer to the family for their perpetrator.

My honest opinion? I dont think a RSO SO or stranger and yes closer to home
But that has been my opinion from day 2 But I dont want to open that can of worms again. I think most everyone knows my opinion by now

Greetings Shadowizer!

You should have returned the incredulous look. Since no COD has been released, there is no more basis to that speculation than to the other one you mentioned. That's how rumors get started, you know.

I trust my source. I even trust the person who told my source, but I don't know who they spoke with related to DT which is why I said take it with a grain of salt. If you guys prefer to sit around and criticize DT's dress during the funeral and rather discuss whether she smokes pot or not as relevant information instead, then best of luck to you.

The few of you that have my number and want me to look into something for you are free to give me a ring and I'll get back with you, I'm going back to looking and talking to people around the neighborhood. The last few threads here have been just about a big waste of time.

Shadowizar, I hope you uncover something worth sharing.

This girl lives on the same street and TJ on the police report. They where questioned by the police also. I dont think they made it up

The uncle has or had a tile business.

He made the statement of the chances of being his niece being "fifty fifty", as if the two were walking together, without anyone else.

And, to me he can make for a potential POI just as anyone else we have discussed here.

TOP of the morning to EVERYONE!

This case is exhausting, I've tried really hard to stick with & scour through what little facts we have.

IT really seems SOMETHING triggered the panic alarm this day....Monday....so I wonder if something had occured lately during the childrens walk home from school - something fresh in DT's mind for her to have that feeling that this time it's different.

So once again I've been reviewing the info we do have access to at our fingertips...at least florida records and such offer us LOTS of info not like other places like Texas and the Carolina's for example.

Anyways, our (trusty?? LOL) Daily Occurance Bulletin for the Friday prior to Somer's disappearce shows what could be an eye-brow raising arrest at 2300 Kingsley Avenue - is that the PARK??????....Sadly, no time of arrest is given - but I wonder if it might be something for consideration. I'll just put it out here and let you all think on it.

S,VA (W M, 43) Arrest on chrg of County Ordinance - Sec 3-1(b) Consume Alcoholic Beverage On ( ), at 2300 Kingsley Av, Orange Park, FL, on 10/16/2009.

Maybe he was just a guy sitting alone, drinking in the park. (!?!?) ETA: ACCEPT THIS PARK GUY lives in GA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well his address on the court docs is GA!!!!

Regardless, no stone unturned right gang?????

(Tho I'm still learning towards underage perp...)

Why just one??? If it's someone underage he or she had help.

I was nosing around recently and one of my sources said death was likely caused by strangulation and the garbage truck compacter did it's job well. I'd take it with a grain of salt as it comes to my source via a friend of a relative of DT so it's third hand info.

Hi shadowizar, thanks for putting this out there - you say 'take it with a grain of salt' and I find this VERY believable.

Logically - I don't think, for a minute, that the garbage compacter missed Somer's little body. Why would anyone think that? The compacter compresses all the garbage the truck dumps into itself...it isn't picky nor does it recognize humans or treat the human body any different from garbage.

Mom D. was told not to view the body and was given a lock of Somer's hair for the wake and funeral - imo, that tells a great deal.

Somer was identified by a birth mark on her leg - that tells a great deal.

Garbage trucks are not picky when compressing the garbage - that tells me a great deal

This is far more believable than her being 'shot' in the head rumor. mho

ETA: I actually think the predator threw her body in the garbage truck for this very reason - he knew DNA and evidence would be destroyed...if that's the case, we have somone very sadistic and with forethought. mho

Just to clarify, I did not mean you. I mean whoever was starting the rumor about the "shot in the head", could be the some of the same ones saying "strangulation". But, I was glad that you and the other poster who reported overhearing it at a fundraiser, let's us know what kind of talk is going on out there and by whom.

specifically in child abduction murders (and not child murders overall), the COD is most likely to be strangulation, followed by stabbing, followed by blunt force trauma, followed by gunshot.

There was discussion earlier on LE identifying very quickly on that it was homicide based on COD without an autopsy being performed.

I am in no way saying that she was or wasn't strangled. This is like totally gross to even be thinking about it, but do you think strangling would be so instantly recognizable? I mean after all of the other trauma the body must have gone through.

I'm just asking. Not putting down anyone's ideas.

Personally, I found the guy a little suspicious. But I couldn't really find any info on him except his addy.

so is it brother to mother or boyfriend to mother (often called "uncle" in families where there are boyfriends), or dad's brother?

I just don't see it being an insider because of the way she was reported missing and because of her age. The odds are way on the side of it being a stranger or passing aquaintance, and I have to go by the odds based on how each scenario presents itself.

This is a really good analysis of many of the different factors in child adbuction murders:

Just an update.. I called the dective back again but he wasnt in. They said he would return my call and since he did once, I feel he will again.

The following is for information purposes only. Nobody is accusing anyone of doing anything, or implying that with the information provided. It is to inform ourselves of the neighborhood situation.

Anyway, the links below are just about the same, different angles. His business is still listed in a few places, "lastname" Tiles, LLC, but seems not active in recent months.

so is it brother to mother or boyfriend to mother (often called "uncle" in families where there are boyfriends), or dad's brother?

He seemed too concerned for his niece (or hamming it up,) as if he was in some type of "father figure" role. He told Mckenzie to never get a ride from anyone unless it was himself, her mother, or others who pick her up. I assume is the brother of the mother.

Coming to think of it, a person who used to have or has a tile business may have construction materials laying around the house or garage, something that may have stuck to the victim and, though not from construction work, it may appear to come from a construction site.

Hmmm...

I have felt strangulation was possible since the was possibly wearing a scarf and hat and no further mention of that was ever made.

I think the Sheriff would have addressed these items if they had been found at home or at school because it was on the AMBER Alert. They haven't asked the public to be on the lookout for those items, so I think they were found with Somer (hands/feet bound, mouth bound would lead to belief it was homicide).

I don't think I've ever heard the media ask about them either, which I find odd.

OPINION ONLY

And I would think that IF the compactor had crushed her body, LE would not have been so quick to recognize COD either. How could they if she was crushed? I have thought and still think that the fatal wounds recognizable by LE as a homicide were to the face or head. This makes me think that the body was intact and not crushed especially since DTs statement that she got to bury ALL of her not just PART of her. If the body had been crushed and cut up from the compactor, how could she have been so sure that she got to bury ALL of her?

Also she was found "partially covered" (I take that to mean with trash) with only her legs sticking out. Wouldn't the compactor have crushed or cut up her legs also so they would not be able to see the birthmark so easily?
