Trying to catch up.

I may be wrong but don't they use the date a person is found as the date on death cert and tombstone?

I say this because it bothered me with Shaniya's too. Her date of death is listed as the day she was found. And we know she died before that day because the perps were already in jail by that day.

Does anybody know if they normally use the date a body is found as the official date of death on paperwork?

I'm not sure. I was dating a guy who was killed at 11:55 pm in a car accident but was not pronounced dead until after midnight. They used the pronounced date on his death certificate and tombstone. I don't know if they do things different when someone is murdered.

Thanks for your response.

Yeah, same thing happened when my Nanny died. It really bugged me because I was by her side and knew what time she passed, but the doctor did not come into her room for like 20 minutes to pronounce. Bugs me to this day.

Shaniya's bugs me too. And Somer's too. I guess that's just something we have to deal with.

When they found my mom, they used the date they found her as the DOD. It bothered our family b/c we were under the impression that she died 2 days before when she disappeared. The fact that they had the DOD as they day they found her made us feel like "if only we had found her sooner she would have been alive"..
Then again, i still don't know, but we were told that it's routine to use DOD as Day of Finding - esp when they are close. maybe they were lying to us to make us feel better.
Also - we were recommended by the Funeral Director not to view her body. We *could* have and my dad really wanted to in some ways, but the FD was somewhat "stern" in his recommendation.. So i think in these circumstances with Somer, both the DOD and the viewing situation aren't abnormal.

Another thing I noticed on the MPR, after looking @ it again. AC is referred to as Juvenile in the Others Involved section, along with the mother. I'm assuming it was to protect his identity, since he's a juvenile.

In the narrative section, the other 2 siblings (juveniles) are listed with full names. Even CS's daughter (who is also a juvenile) is listed with full name.

I'm now wondering why AC is referred to as "juvenile". Why was his name not listed, since the other minors names were?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think the official date of death is the date a medic pronounces the person deceased. When my step dad died recently, I called his hospice nurse and she came and pronounced him dead at 2:38, when he actually died at 1:40.

When CP picked up ST jr and went looking did he see DT when she flaged down the LE
I wonder how they didn't all run into each other

You bring up a great point -- it is all in the same area and vicinity - lots of conflicting reports on who searched and for how long and Where...

I wondered about this alot
Unexplained injuries such as cuts or bruises on the head, arms and hands
I have wondered if these aren't defensive wounds he was asking about

In many cases, the victim will hold up hands and forearms in front of the body in a defensive

I didn't know she stopped in to visited the Orange Park office

Also Wednesday, Somer's mother, Diena Thompson, visited the Orange Park office where dozens of county, state and federal detectives were working full-time on the homicide investigation.

During the visit, officials said she expressed gratitude for the work being done to find her daughter's killer and gained some insight into how the case is being handled behind the scenes. After the visit, she released a statement ot the community:

I don't know how to describe the level of support from the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and detectives have been by my side and cried with me. The sheriff has been there for support as well, and has spared no expense in the search for Somer and now for the killer. I thank all of you.

I am trying to follow which post you are responding too but something you said made me think of something. Since Somer basically disappeared into thin air - it does make you wonder if there was at some point a pursuit after her on foot? Could Somer have made a run for it if someone was after her she didnt' know or if it was someone she knew and this person was angry with her she could have made a mad dash--- since nothing was reportedly seen by anyone this would open up the possibility that a chase could have happend through backyards or somewhere off the beat and path - possibly even scaling fences --- if the perp ever ran or had to work to catch her - they could get banged up on the knees if they fell or scrapes of some sort from scaling walls or fences -- Anyway, just another idea to mull over. Could mean nothing.

Dear Diena:
The prayers of all of us here at Moosehaven go out to you and your children. We watched and listened to everything that was said over the past month, and like you, we know that some day this murderer and child molester will be caught.
I pray that you and your children will be able to over come your lost.
I know that this is probably the hardest on her twin as twins are so close. Even when they have gone there separate ways later on in live.
Please keep your faith in the Lord. He will help you and your children overcome this tragedy.
Your friend and neighbor
Keith A. N***

Ok, I've been sleuthing and I believe he is a 70 year old man that lives on Park Ave. in Orange Park at the retirement place he mentioned. You have to go past McIntosh (creepy) to get there. I keep thinking about what Walsh from AMW said about an older person coming out of retirement. I cannot find anything suggesting this man is a RSO. IDK if it's anything but my hinky meter went off when he mentioned "molester" in his letter.

So, sounds like he is the only one who knows whether or not Somer was molested, since that information has not been released.
