With no news and no named suspects, all that is left is speculation. On the recent news article there was that picture of a Detective holding two phones at once with the huge picture (wrong one) of Somer saying "this is who we are working for". One news source had an article about budget issues with LE. I didn't read it. So one has to believe that LE resources have pared down significantly on this case. Perhaps that is because they have a perp or perps in mind and are just watching and waiting.

So my question here is (I'm repeating myself) what do you think they are focusing on?
If they are waiting on forensic evidence, and the perp is still loose, let's remember he was called a "monster", a "predator" and people were warned their children were in "danger". DT was not going to sleep until "it" was found; the crime was "heinous"; family was discouraged from viewing the body; There has been a lot of talk about SO's and recitivism rates and how they continue killling because they can't help it. With more time elapsing that would mean the perp - if he is a SO - is needing to strike again. It's when people let down their guard when opportunity strikes.

Does anyone know if the schools have placed more video surveillance around the grounds, if there are more watch groups or etc? Are there more LE around areas where youngsters play?

There were strong suggestions that this might be a serial killer. IF that's the case, the community is in major danger. There might be one or more children whose parents still let them out of sight for a few minutes. Etc. If the killer was a so-called "normal" looking person (?) with no criminal record, it's doubtful that he/she would have been stopped from leaving OP either temporarily or moving altogether. Unless everyone who has changed residences for any reason has been sleuthed by LE? What do you think?

Team Somer must have specific detectives assigned to special areas. Do you think they have undercover out there? If this was a ritual or gang slaying as has been suggested, do you think there are convicted perps who would talk? Or youths who would blab or brag?

I agree with Hippy Chick that if I were DT I would probably want to change my residence. You have to believe that she can't even go to the store without being stared at or having well-meaning people approach her or even say mean things....a dubious celebrity. Probably she isn't allowed to move while investigation is in progress, or possibly doesn't want to upset the routine of the other children...or moving would be "losing" another part of Somer. IDK. All we know is she is flying under the radar with her attorney but I feel sorry for those kids. We know that eventually all the food and good wishes and interested people fall away and you are left alone with your own suffering. Those kids are still young and have a long, long way to go, especially the little twin.

New1 has a point about the thread. It's scary to think that it could pass off as a "cold case". Even on here.

I've been up kind of late tonight thinking of CG's scratched neck. Now this guy better have a good alibi. I wonder just how closely LE has checked him out.

Whoever had a scratched neck and could have been the perp hopefully dropped some DNA somewhere. All they would have to do is say "we have your DNA". Any alibi wouldn't be able to explain that away, would it?

One last thing. Back when we were talking about her calling what S wore a "jumpsuit".
I was trying to call to mind what it might have looked like, picturing something from the '70s, or maybe what a skydiver would wear. And then I thought, HEY, maybe it was a Freudian Slip. Maybe what she was thinking with all that LE around was another kind of jumpsuit, a bright orange one, like the kind that prisoners wear.

That's a really good point. Growing up in the South, I have heard that term used for 2 piece outfits like what Somer was wearing. It's not a term I use, but my Mother and Grandmother's generations did!

If it's his DNA under her nails, it would solve this case. Providing they even have his DNA on file. Perhaps the reason this case isn't solved is because no match to the DNA under Somer's nails has been found.

I pray this case is solved very soon. I can't be this upset all the time. I like to speak to Somer and she always tells me it's Campbell who did it. I don't know who Campbell is but there are over 400 Campbells in Orange Park.

Maybe Campbell is a first name, not a last name? Also, there is a roofing company in Orange Park with the last name of Campbell, but not very close to Gano. Or maybe someone wears that name on a uniform? Something new to sleuth, but I have to say, as for me personally, I believe people do talk to the dead, but the dead doesn't talk back. I do believe that some supernatural, unexplainable things do occur, but I don't think anyone can call up the dead. That's JMO based on my Bible beliefs and not to knock any other poster's beliefs.

In the Bible, there was a man who died and went to hell and wanted to come back and warn his family of what hell was like, but God would not let him come back - He said there was a great gulf between and he could not cross it to go back and warn his family. Not in those exact words, but it meant the same IMO. I know there are a lot of people who don't believe as I do and that is their right; like I said, it's only my opinion based on the Bible.

I dont see the hinky in anything dt has said. lol... but im from the south too. All those "suit" names mean the same thing to me too.. sweats. Nor have i seen anything fake. All her emotions seem real to me, disbelief, raw pain, acceptance, anger.. I mean the woman was wailing...

Yes, and you have to wonder why. And why there haven't been any more. How could it hurt DT to go on the media and say it's been almost 3 months since my daughter disappeared and was murdered. It seemed apparant from the statements given by anchors of the morning shows, ie., "what did you want to say to us today?", " thank you for inviting US", "Why do YOU keeping putting your face out there?', etc., that the later interviews were at DT requests. Not that the morning shows were asking her to appear.

Maybe they aren't taking her up on her offers anymore.

Heck, some channels did stories right there in the neighborhood recently, but, it didn't seem like they talked to her either. Just other people who lived there. You know they didn't ask her because they would have said so. We asked for an interview or comment and she declined. Something like that. But, no. They brought their reporters and TV cameras and ignored her completely.

I am sure that based on the many things DT has said - and so many people blogging and talking about suspicions - he advised her to stop talking to the media. However, I am not so sure he is an entertainment lawyer. Because in that TV appearance I posted, he was specifically introduced as a liason between DT and LE to make sure they gave her information.Now I am wondering if she hired a lawyer based on not being allowed access to the autopsy results or being strongly discouraged when wanting to view Somer's body? Later, his representation is changed to "media attorney".

But here is a lawyer who will either represent her gratis (free) for the publicity or if she has to pay him we know she does have some funds now. Basic point is she did not have a lawyer, now she does. No more interviews now. And it's interesting on how, in the latest news updates, media specifies that LE is keeping in touch with DT frequently, even daily. But it doesn't say how they are keeping in touch, or if it is directly.

Even if the fees were gratis or pro bono. In this case you might have to know whether they send a bill that's been charged then zeroed out.

She might owe taxes on those gifts and services, too. I wonder if the CPA will do those filings gratis?

A jogging suit is this bulky velour thing with a zipper top, often worn as casual wear.
A sweatsuit is the same thing only made out of fleece. lol.


ETA: I made the comments tongue in cheek, hence the "lol" at the end. Not to make a federal case out of it. People can call them their business suits for all I care.

Could it be that it's called different things by different people and no one is wrong????
I'd hate to know I was wrong in calling this blue velour hoody and matching pants I have on today a jumpsuit. Cause that's what it is IMO.

To me, a jumpsuit could be any 2 piece outfit that matches...jacket and pants.
A jogging suit is a fleece outfit with pants and sweatshirt.

So, maybe the people who KNOW the difference just has a different lingo for these types of outfits. IMO

I.e., DT's guilt.. that her speech is picked apart by some until, finally, they find the "nugget" they have been searching for to support what they say, even though the mountain they searched to get there didnt support it at all? LOL.. does this make sense to anyone.. anyone kwim?

I am from the south too and probably older than a lot of you. I think it really doesn't matter what the clothing was called - a jumpsuit, a jogging suit....whatever.

I think older people refer to a jumpsuit as one piece, but younger people may see them differently. No big discrepancy to me. Back in the day when I had a good figure and wore jumpsuits, they WERE all one piece like Elvis wore, where you had to unzip them to go to the bathroom. Now that I am old and my figure has "blossomed" (LOL) I think of a jumpsuit as being either - one piece or two matching pieces. So, I don't see where the description of the clothing has changed. The book bag or backpack, on the other hand, has changed numerous times.

YES!!!
It makes perfect sense to me. I've been saying that since the beginning.
Why some of the early interviews are still being picked apart I will never know.
No one, IMO, can say what they would or would not say after finding out
their daughter has just been taken.
Then, the interviews from right after she was found in a pile of garbage are still being picked apart...IMO how can we take what DT says and over anylize it...over and over...this woman just found out her baby was killed and thrown away.

Like the jumpsuit thing...If God forbid my DD was taken and she was wearing an outfit similar to Somer's I would no doubt say she was wearing a jumpsuit.
It hurts my heart that that would be used against me because some people would not call it that.

Of course...this is all MOO

Sure, why not? But IIRC, they were sleuthed then discarded when the sleuthing proved they probably, were not involved. CWG being one of the few that we could sleuth to that end.

Does anyone know if WLK is still in jail? I really don't think this was a sexually motivated crime, just wondering if he is still there.

Some of the DNA MUST be back by now and if they still have WLK in jail, it seems like they would have tried to match it with his, and if it matched, there would be an arrest in the case by now, don't you think?

He's still in jail. I think he got 6 months for failing to register his new address.
Yeah, I would think anyone who has dna on file (like RSO's) would have been arrested or charged by now, but who knows, ya know?
