OMG! Those are fabulous pix of the area! Yeah, Shutterfly!

I've bookmarked it again. I had it but only as 246 ... didn't know what it was.

I just don't know why he would need that 1080 Gano when he had his own empty house.

Perhaps he could have worked there. Asked the guys if they needed some help as he had no job. But it appears his mother procured all of his other jobs for him.

I would think that he would come off as so socially weird that they wouldn't want him on the job site, but how do I know?

bbm.. Let's think about this from a killer's perspective, are you going to murder a little girl in a home you have ties to, or a house being renovated down the street that's had workers in and out of it for a while?

imo... If something happened at 1080, there was a good chance that the killer thought traces of the crime would be covered up by the construction workers..

this is great - there may be another but this one has so many pics. THANKS Noway!!!

THANKS to Shutterfly.

You can see we had the same shot of the area where the ditch comes out on Grove Park, just angle is different. I was trying to get into the yard so I could see if the fence was gone.

Her post explains it all so much better.

Paris_Paris had been trying to get me to see this, and I told her sometimes I needed a brick thrown at my head!

ETA
But great shots like this work too ... and cause less damage to my head!

Shutterfly is the best - when she did this, I was in awe at her talents. The pics are really great - best feel for the area yet.

Noway, I did notice that drainage ditch is fenced where hit hits Gano. I dont know if it is fenced all the way. You can see it on a google driveby.

I'm not sure this will be helpful... but what the heck :)

I lived in Tallahassee from age 8 through HS (and came back for a few years later on). These drainage ditches were something we didn't have where I'd lived before. In my limited life experience at the time, I'd certainly never seen anything like it. The pipes are very large, and very appealing to small kids. The problem is, they could be bone dry one minute, and rapidly filling with water the next. I can't recall exactly how many, but I remember being told (and probably hearing on the evening news) that there were children caught in the drainage system (no doubt killed). Northern FL can be quite wet, and when the soil is saturated there's nowhere for the water to go...

Anyway, not long after we moved to Tallahassee, there had been some tragedies concerning these ditches/pipes and the city blocked the ends of the pipes so that people could not get in, and fences were placed around the deeper parts of the ditches. It may be an exaggeration from my memory as an 8 year old, but IIRC some of those pipes were large enough to drive a car into... then again, everything looks big to a little kid :)

Not sure where I'm going with this, except to wonder if that sort of protection is mandated by the state or simply local. BTW, trying to search for any info on those deaths back in the 60s of course came up empty-handed, but I did find this video (with kids playing in the drainage ditches lol). If you skip to 1:30, you'll see the grates that cover the ends of the pipes.

Calliope, I can't tell if they have the same system.

I don't see any cement in the first photo but the second does. I don't think they are as big as the ones in your video?

Maybe one of the locals can clarify that for us.

I think if you Google Ryan Hughes and Kyle and Somer Thompson you might hit on something.

Ryan is the reporter who talked with Kyle.

Thanks Noway! From what I can find, Ryan talked to Kyle on the phone and Kyle's the one that told him that LE had talked to him. But I don't see confirmation anywhere; was he just taking some guy's word for it all this over the phone? Interesting.

I have no idea where that video was shot, but I do have memory of storm drains MUCH larger than what was pictured there, and also of different sizes. Of course, I didn't really have any reason to think about them (except when my parents were putting the fear of God into me never to go near one). Although I am truly older than dirt, I'd too like to hear from NoFL locals (especially anyone who can clarify my memory of children being caught up in those pipes).

Somewhere Mary Justino/CCSO verified it. I cannot emphasize enough that reading the old threads would be helpful ... new eyes bringing new perspective ... and Google of course.

Also, that doesn't show the pipes from the ditch side... I did find this (not sure where it is or if it is truly a drainage ditch of the same type in your photo):

http://www.townoforangepark.com/stormwater.html

Doesn't appear to have any grates.

This is the type of story I recall hearing as a child, and what precipitated the city blocking those drains/ditches:

COLORADO SPRINGS - Drainage ditches, especially those made of concrete, can be inviting in dry weather to kids with bikes and skateboards. However, a local firefighter reminds us the channels can become death traps when it rains.

Neil Raedel, a member of the Heavy Rescue team with the Colorado Springs Fire department, discussed the matter with NEWSCHANNEL 13 Tuesday in light of the heavy rain received by the area recently. He recalls the deaths of two boys swept away by a 2005 flash flood in Cottonwood Creek near Austin Bluffs and Research Parkways on the city's northeast side. Raedel hopes that won't happen again, and wants residents to learn from that tragedy.

"This would be the equivalent of a tsunami," he explains. "It just comes out of nowhere. We can be here and the sun's shining, but it's raining 20 or 30 miles to the north. All of that water heads south. The farther south you go, it's going to pick up steam."

Experts say between three and six inches of water flowing in a drainage ditch are enough to knock a person off his feet. More water can pin a person under the water, tear off clothes and drown someone quickly. recovering the victim's body may take several days. "There's no control over that water," says Raedel. "It doesn't care about you or me. It's got one purpose--and that's to get where it's going."

What I experienced was ~40 years ago. Seems Tallahassee was ahead of the curve...

But like I said, I'm not even sure where I was headed with this =\

From what i read on some old threads, Kyle went to L.E. after Somer went missing, to let L.E. know that Somer had approached the workers that day. ? to clear himself, thus covering all aspects? That L.E. had DNA tested 3 of the workers on the site that day? That they were supposedly all cleared of involvement? Is there anything anywhere to say they were definitely cleared? The helper there that day was apparently also named "Kyle"????? A diversion???
Also if J.H. did commit this crime, we are not aware of that yet, only the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. charges, then i guess we could assume the killer/killers still out there somewhere? Probably long gone by now too! They would be stupid to stay around.
From what i understand, these kinds of perps rarely commit that kind of crime in their own home, too much trace evidence for L.E to find. They normally do this in an isolated place, out in the open somewhere! Then again, there are always exceptions to the rule.
If Somer was raped i am sure L.E. have that DNA, and can match it in their data base to try to link it or get that DNA for a suspect in this case. With that, they should definitely be able to get the right perp that did this.
Could Somer have been directly placed at the landfill after the fact?, rather than elsewhere first, another theory.

There was a lot more then the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges. He was charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a child under 12 and is being held on no bond because it carries a possible life sentence.

Besides that I can not understand why you think we can assume the killer is still out there?

Can you explain where you get this info from about where these kidnappings and murders do not usually happen in the perps home?

I would , but got a violation of TOS recently for stating the exact site i had gotten some of this info. from, and my previous post was removed from the mod., and don't know how to post the link, don't even know if it could be posted anyway, but it is another blog. Maybe a bit of research into this could explain it to you better. I am not saying it didn't happen in J.H's home, anything is possible. I am not even saying he didn't do this, but nobody knows that yet! L.E. have not officially stated they have anyone that committed this crime yet.
I am just looking at all avenues of this. Not stating any concrete facts, because as i mentioned, none of us know anything for sure, unless you definitely know J.H did in fact murder Somer Thompson?

Does anyone know if FBI are helping to investigate this case, as they have been involved in other high profile cases recently in Florida?

Are you asking me if I know for sure JH killed Somer?

In your argument you rule JH out. I was just showing you that you can not do that logically.

I believe with the evidence we have JH is the most logical suspect and there is no evidence to assume he should be ruled out.
