Laptops are expensive here too, but you can get an offbrand one with not much bells and whistles for $250-$300.

Esp since they have come out with the netbooks. The little 10" laptops.

The aunt DID say that she watched him build her website on HIS computer. LE had confiscated the one he had at the roommates apartment, so he must have bought another one somehow. I wonder if he was making this and selling it or had a website with child on it and was charging others to view it. Maybe that is how he made his money, huh? If this is the case, all his customers should be locked up right along with him.

You can buy used laptops cheap for a number of reasons, just a thought. Seems like this guy being a gamer (omitting for the moment , etc.) described as a loner as well by some...this would be a priority. I know my son, takes his laptop everywhere & if it were lost...it would be priority replaced over everything...but he's 20. Forget clothes, etc. my kid would have a used laptop before most anything (he's a geek).

I doubt that he bought a new computer and copied the pictures to it. He probably had a desktop and a laptop, and left the desktop behind when he got kicked out... taking the laptop with him. That would also explain why he wasn't in any rush to go back to get his other computer.

Having both is not unusual. My son and I both have a desktop and a laptop each.

Talking about JH accessing the internet and his computers. If he had a playstation 2 or 3 he could access the internet with those. Walmart sells netbooks for about 298$ and so does Bestbuy. I can see a pedophile being sure to have playstations though, of course, not that all men who like video games fit into the weird category.

The case centers on accusations of molestation and graphic videotaping and photographing of a girl between the ages of 3 and 5 in a home once owned by Harrell's stepfather at 1152 Gano Ave. in Orange Park. The incidents occurred between May and November of 2008, records said. The images were found on a digital camera taken by investigators during a search of the Callahan home of Harrell's mother, records show.

The video and still images show a partially naked girl, known to Harrell's family, being asked to pose in a number of positions, court records show. Other images show Harrell using his hand to expose parts of the girl, the records said.

Jarred Harrell, the man named as a person of interest in the Somer Thompson murder case, is facing 13 new charges as he is arraigned in a Clay County court Wednesday morning.

Hello everyone...

I haven't been able to keep up here at WS and I've managed to be able to do a few drive-by posts at news4jax when there is a new article about the case.

I was disgusted when I went there this morning to find out that this freak had even more sick pictures and video of the 3 year old. I feel so bad for that child and I hope that he (JH) will never see the light of day again. Someone like him does not need to be free to harm other children.

I also hope to see a headline soon about CCSO changing him from a POI to a suspect in Somer's case so we'll know for sure that there is not a killer on the loose in our community.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS &#8212; Jarred Harrell pleaded not guilty this morning in Clay County court to 55 counts of child , including two counts of molesting a young girl. His next court appearance was set for April 8.


Ann Dugger, executive director of the Justice Coalition victim's advocates group, appeared in court today on behalf of Somer's mother, Diena Thompson. After the appearance, Dugger called Thompson and softly spoke to her about the proceedings and what to expect next. Across the street, about a dozen motorcyclists and supporters of Somer's mother waved at cars in front of signs demanding "Justice for Somer."

"Do you hear all those horns blowing?" a smiling Dugger said into the phone.

His step-brother was at UAB, iirc - Univ of Alabama. Some Univ in Alabama - now that I'm writing it, I don't know for sure. Dunno if they had any kind of relationship. [This is the son of the sci-fi/religious/polygamy step-father.]

See omn Jax4News, A 30yr. old Jacksonville man got 4 years in jail, for having 8,000 images of child and videos of young kids being sexually molested!! Wow, what is it with that place??? Sure wouldn't be raising my kids there.

I don't know where you live, but you might want to go to your state's bureau of investigations or law enforcement website and run a check of registered sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of your home address.

I doubt that Florida has more sex offenders than other states... Florida just prosecutes the hail out of them.

I believe when he moved out of the house in December, he went first to Callahan. No source. And then from there, he went to Meridian (about 3 weeks before his arrest, so we estimated at January 22).

Also, at one point, he lived with his sister. His court records had that address before his arrest, at which point it was changed to an address that was a combination of the house number in Meridian and the street name in Callahan, FL.

I know he was born in Lucedale and I read somewhere that he attended college but don't remember where (Mississippi?). Also, considering Annis and her marriages and addresses would help narrow down where he lived.

Re bold text. The traffic tickets are from March and August 2009. Those had his sister's address. So I wonder if he didn't live with her just before he moved "out on his own to become a man" and into the apartment on Wells.

I agree with you that he should be put away for the child , but I am beginning to think they have NOTHING on him in connection to Somer's death except the fact that he lived on the street she was last seen on. They have his vehicle, they have his DNA. I do not believe they are just waiting for an air-tight case against him before they charge him with murder. I believe they want SOMEBODY arrested for this murder as soon as they can. I know about the speedy trial thing if he is charged with murder, but that does not mean that he will GET a speedy trial. He can waive his rights to a speedy trail --look at how long Casey Anthony has been in jail without a trial. Investigators will have plenty of time to make an air-tight case for murder while JH is serving his sentence for child , if he is convicted.

He pleads "not guilty" to charges that include his photo on materials found in his possession; guess he missed out learning as a kid on the part about truth vs lie.
I'm beginning to think (like New) that LE needs to move on charges related to Somer.... if they have something to move on. While JH's /molestation should keep him in jail til he is an old man.... the community needs to know whether LE has some evidence directly related to Somer or if there is still a killer out there who is responsible. Seems there has been enough time to make this determination. If JH is not the one, LE needs to give the public more information. I think many are just relaxing thinking that JH is the person who killed Somer. No one in that area needs to relax until the truth is known.

Question for legal folks: in the process, what will be happening/will be discussed at the April 8th court appearance?

just kinda tossing in some more " what if's" in the mix.... could the stepfather be involved, and knowing his stepsons secrets thought that he would get caught and be blamed for it instead of him? if it wasn't jh, then I would be very surprised to find that out. but if not, then just maybe it could be someone connected to him, either family or friend. yeah we know that the parents moved.... when we say " parents are we including the stepfather?" or the bio... the stepfather could have come back to oversee moving the shed.. or did it go when they moved? just thinking out loud here... any ideas folks?
