"Police said Clemons was reported missing after she failed to show up to work the next day.

According to Clemons' sister, Clemons is a nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital and takes the Interstate 95 Express Bus to work, which could explain why her car was still parked outside her home.

Clemons' sister said she never made it to work on Monday or the rest of the week.

Relatives said they went into her apartment and found nothing out of place. However, they said her purse was still inside, but her cellphone and hospital ID badge were missing. Relatives believe Clemons left for work on May 21, but something happened to her before she made it there.

Police said it's unclear whether Clemons suffers from any specific illness, and her family said she was not on any medication. "

Sad to hear this news, but suspected it. Devastating that she was trying to finally break free from this man. Now, I hope they find her and enough evidence to ensure justice is served. IMO.

Let's break it down and help this fine woman, Stephanie Ray Clemons. Stephanie is described as a responsible employee who was close to her loved ones and kept a neat and organized home.

  1. Husband Jack Freeman Jr. is a person of interest.
  2. Inconsistencies in Freeman's Story: Police say there are inconsistencies in Freeman’s story, including that he said he hadn’t seen or spoken with Clemons in a month, a separation he later extended back to mid-March, the warrant said. In fact, there is evidence the couple texted each other on May 16 and May 20, according to the warrant.
  3. Polygraph shows deception: A polygraph administered by an FBI special agent found Freeman “showed deception” when asked if he was going to lie during the examination or if he knew where Clemons was.
  4. Cellphones show a correlation between Freeman and Clemons at time Clemons went missing: Detectives say cellphones belonging to Freeman and Clemons were traced to approximately the same places around sunrise on May 22, two days after she was last seen. Those locations were Clemons’ home in the 7200 block of Venetian Street, and the apartment where Freeman’s girlfriend lives and where he told police he has stayed for a month, in the 2400 block of Sherman Circle North in Miramar. On May 24, the phones pinged at Clemons’ address, the warrant said.
  5. Freeman has a history of committing physical abuse: Detective Mark Moretti described Freeman as someone who has been arrested on suspicion of committing physical abuse against Clemons and against his girlfriend, but he was not convicted of such offenses. Police say they are more than 20 reports of domestic violence involving Freeman. The search warrant describes Freeman's threatening texts to Clemons: Freeman texts Clemons on May 16, messages that included “Don’t f------ play with me” and “Be real careful about what you say out your mouth.” On May 20, the day she disappeared and a few minutes after she spoke to her sister Sylvia Ray for the last time, Clemons texted Freeman. She cursed at him, and wrote, “You hurt my mouth last night.”
  6. Police and cadaver dogs have combed over cars belonging to Freeman, his mother, his girlfriend and Clemons, and a field in Miami Gardens.
Mystery surrounds woman who vanished in May. Cops say she may have been killed.

Added to Charley Project: Stephanie Ray Clemons – The Charley Project

Details of Disappearance
Clemons was last seen outside her residence in Miramar, Florida on May 2o, 2018. She was on her way to work at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, where she was a phlebotomist, but never arrived there and has never been heard from again.

Her car keys, house keys and cellular phone disappeared with her. She left her red 2018 Volkswagen Jetta behind her home with her wallet inside; it contained credit cards and $300 in cash. She also left her driver's license and passport behind.

When police checked Clemons's home in the 7200 block of Venetian Street, they found food in a pot on the stove, and a fan and television set on in the bedroom. They didn't find any blood or evidence of foul play. It's uncharacteristic of her to miss work; she had a near-perfect attendance record.

Clemons had been in a relationship with Jack Freeman Jr., and he was the father of one of her four children. A photo of Freeman is posted with this case summary. Authorities learned they had married in 2016, something Clemons's relatives and loved ones were unaware of.

He had been seeing another woman for about ten years, something he says Clemons knew about, and he said he'd moved in to his girlfriend's apartment in the 2400 block of Sherman Circle north in late April. He failed a polygraph about Clemons's case, showing deception on all of his answers.

Police stated there were 22 separate reports of domestic violence by Freeman against Clemons and other women but he wasn't charged in any of the cases. He was arrested five times on domestic violence charges between 2000 and 2017, but each time the case was dropped. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in 2007, but that charge was also dropped.

Freeman initially stated he hadn't had contact with Clemons for about a month prior to her disappearance, then changed his story and it had actually been more than two months since he'd seen her. In fact, they'd been in touch, at least by text, up until her disappearance.

Text messages between Clemons and Freeman indicate the two of them were fighting just prior to her disappearance. Cellular phone records indicate the couple's phones were together at around dawn on May 22, two days after she was last seen. The phones were tracked first to Clemons's home, and then to Freeman's girlfriend's apartment. On May 24, the phones pinged again at Clemons's address.

Authorities are investigating Clemons's case as a homicide, and Freeman is considered a person of interest in her case. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

Kids Press for Answers in Case of Missing Broward Mother – NBC 6 South Florida (nbcmiami.com)
[...]

Once the family filed a missing persons report, Miramar Police went to her home near Pembroke Road and University Drive and canvassed the area.

[...]

The focus then shifted to interviewing people in Stephanie's circle. Detectives quickly determined there was a main person of interest.

"We've focused a lot of attention on her husband," Smith said.

Stephanie and Jack Freeman were a couple for more than 20 years, but in 2018 at the time of her disappearance, they were estranged.

[...]

State records show at least four aggravated battery and aggravated assault charges for Freeman from 2006 to 2017. In one case, he was accused of attacking a pregnant woman. Most charges, however, were ultimately dropped or abandoned.

"He knew what time she had to be at work. He knew the people around her what time they had to be at work, what time they come home. He had a key to her apartment. He was the only person with a key," Sylvia Ray said.

Investigators also traced the cell phones of the husband and wife and found that both devices were roughly in the same place at the same time. This was all after Stephanie went missing, but police say it is still not enough evidence.

[...]

They believe more than one person knows what happened to her.

[...]

Police say Freeman was cooperative at first, but after a brief period of time, he chose not to speak to detectives. Initially, he denied any involvement. NBC 6 contacted Freeman for a statement, but he has not responded to our request.
