He was thought to have died in the fall of 1954. There’s a description of his teeth:
He has one gold inlay filling; number 6 tooth, upper left; two Amalgam fillings: number 6 tooth upper right and number 8 tooth lower left.
Extractions were as follows: Upper right numbers 5, 7, and 8; upper left numbers 3, 4, 5 and 8; lower right numbers 6, 7, and 8; lower left numbers 6 and 7.
Of the remaining 17 teeth, 11 are missing postmortem, and the other 6 show no defects.
I hike frequently in JD Park, it was a WWII radar training base. To my knowledge there is only one WWII era building there today, I think one of the rangers lives in there. There are a variety of terrains in there, everything from sand dunes to pine forest. You could get lost pretty easily in there today but who knows back in the 50's? I've seen some game suitable for shotgun hunting in there, including wild turkeys multiple times.
