From March:

Neighbors say the two had been fighting about everything under the sun for the past few weeks. Marshall, who lives in Lehigh Acres, was building on another property he owns in Bokeelia. The victim lived across the street from that lot.

Neighbor Jennifer Hammer said the victim, 65-year-old Ted Hubbell Jr. stopped by earlier this week, wanting advice on what to do about his neighbor, Marshall.

The two are described by some neighbors as polar opposites; Hubbell: A kind, quiet man. Marshall: Aggressive and angry... "I told [Hubbell], 'You need to be careful. This guy is crazy. He is not stable,'" said neighbor Gary Pierson.

From December:

A Lee County man who admitted to killing his neighbor and drove his body 25 miles to his attorney's office is serving a 22-month sentence for a crime related to a different incident.

John Marshall, 53, was found guilty of aggravated battery after he drove into a man at the McDonald's on Pine Island Road and driving off in 2014.

Nine months later, the Lee County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the case in which he admitted to killing his neighbor, Ted Hubbell, in self-defense. Marshall has not been charged in that case.
