I am wondering if he brought leather (or thick) gloves for his actions...

This would imply to me that:
1.) He pre-planned the assault/premeditation...
2.) He was aware of the potential for cutting his own hands when committing the stabbing....
3.)He may have even already performed such assaults prior...

All... JMO...

P.S. Perhaps LE are searching for such gloves among other pieces of evidence...

Now, that's a terrifying thought. If this 14yo took a pair of gloves to don while he viciously butchered this precious 13yo girl, in no way should he ever face being released from incarceration.

Personally, that would point to a 14yo serial killer! I just can't go there and hope we don't because... because our society needs mental health care now, possibly, more than ever. I mean we all have problems, all of us suffer in some way or another, but we manage to cope with those stressors and carry on with a productive life without killing one another.

Which echoes the question: Are psychopaths born that way, made that way or both?

why couldn't a sentence include life on probation if let out after serving serious time in juvenile rehabilitation/a mental hospital (not jail)?

Anyone familiar with James Garbarino and/or his book "Miller's Children"? Miller v Alabama -
Supreme Court’s decision which outlaws mandatory life-without-parole sentences for juvenile murderers.

I've only heard/read some brief info about this Loyola professor.

Excellent link, Judge Joe. TY

Although we don't know the perpetrator that well yet, I can see a few of these signs that could possibly place him under the umbrella. IE., would we consider manipulation and impulsivity? Certainly early behavioral problems fits since he has found himself, it appears, in quite a pickle of his own design. I want to know if he appears as charming. Notice it is the first on the list.

The revised version of the checklist includes the following characteristics:

  • Glibness/superficial charm

  • Grandiose sense of self-worth

  • Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom

  • Pathological lying

  • Conning/manipulative

  • Lack of remorse or guilt

  • Shallow affect (i.e., reduced emotional responses)

  • Callous/lack of empathy

  • Parasitic lifestyle

  • Poor behavioral controls

  • Promiscuous sexual behavior

  • Early behavioral problems

  • Lack of realistic, long-term goals

  • Impulsivity

  • Irresponsibility

  • Failure to accept responsibility for one's own actions

  • Many short-term marital relationships

  • Juvenile delinquency

  • Revocation of conditional release (from prison)

  • Criminal versatility (i.e., commits diverse types of crimes)

This case doesn’t indicate that the defendant was “smart” in the ways that might succeed in covering up a crime… rage murder, security cameras, sneakers (possibly wet), and that post “Has inyone (sic) seen Tristyn?” which I believe was a lame attempt to use social media as “proof” that he didn’t know anything about the murder.

It was as if he thought that he was going to “game” the police. He changed his story, found out about the evidence, learned that the police were smarter, and went “uh oh!”

Then he holds back tears in court as it is announced that he will be detained. Did he really think he was going home? Very naive.

In FL… “The State Attorney’s Office has 21 days from the date of Fucci’s arrest -- which was May 10 -- to decide whether to charge him as an adult… a petition at *****.org has gathered more than 200,000 signatures, urging the State Attorney’s Office to charge Fucci as an adult”.
Tristyn Bailey case: Teen murder suspect Aiden Fucci may get new lawyer

So, we’ll know how he’ll be tried by June 1- since May 31 is holiday.

A juvenile may be charged as an adult if they committed a serious offense, like murder. A prosecutor will also consider the minor’s juvenile record and past crimes, along with their age. If the prosecutor sees that the juvenile’s past rehabilitation efforts were unsuccessful, they may believe that charging a juvenile as an adult is the best option.”
When Are Juveniles Tried as Adults in Florida?

“[Florida] has been and.. continues to be the worst state for young people accused of crimes… Florida is decidedly not the state where children want to find themselves on the wrong side of the law…. the choice to transfer these children to adult court is entirely the prosecutor’s. There is no hearing, no burden on the prosecutor to explain his or her reasoning, no opportunity for the defendant’s lawyer to make counter-arguments. Neither the judge in juvenile court nor the judge in adult court may dispute the prosecutor’s unilateral decision.”
The Worst State for Kids Up Against the Law

That’s a lot of power & pressure for one person. Imho

I think the fact that the victim was stabbed multiple times and our perpetrator does not appear to have slip wounds to his hands very troubling. I do not think the weapon was a pocket knife in this scenario. I think it must have been a larger weapon that he planted at the scene and then disposed in the vicinity of the crime.
I aslo believe he lured the victim to the woods and there could be video evidence of his crime. I do think he was bragging in the peace sign photo and knew his friends would know he was last wth her and the most likely perpetrator.

The indigent hearing was today. I just watched on YT. I’m wondering if anyone else saw it, and if they know who the kid was? <modsnip>

I saw it and it was Aiden. I have tried 3 times to post the info but it won't post. Anyone who wants info can google "Aiden Fucci court appearance" and the info comes up. <modsnip>

I thought it looked like Aiden. The frequent tossing/flipping of his hair.

I only saw a very small picture. Was there a closeup in the video you saw? Everyone in the comments said it wasn’t him?

You can watch today's indigent hearing here:

Aiden Fucci's parents granted indigent status; 14-year-old to be represented by team of public defenders | firstcoastnews.com

iirc I thought the judge in the first hearing had already ruled that there will be no further images of AF in hearings?

ETA: "... May 11, 2021 · In the meantime, Judge Orfinger banned photos of Fucci in his courtroom. ..."
Boy, 14, charged with murdering cheerleader 'was proud of what he did' | Daily Mail Online

i didn’t know they had banned photos of him. Thanks! I’m wondering if that was his younger brother? It felt very inappropriate for him to be watching. JMO. He was also very distracting.

: ,

and that is a very unlikely scenario

You think so? I hope that's true.

I bet a lot of people in the neighborhood have a pretty good idea now who killed their pets.

From the above link:

Gene Nichols, an attorney not affiliated with the case, said it’ll likely cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend Fucci.
