There will be new videos of Josie on NBC's Today Show this morning, and oh my God! she's sitting up in a wheelchair, moving around, looking at the camera, and more!

Oh Josie! You're the best, sweetie! Good job!!! :)

still praying for Josie's eventual full recovery. Brain injuries are tricky things. The road to recovery can be long and sometimes the smallest progress must be celebrated. One tiny step at a time. Hang in Josie girl, we are still thinking of you and pulling for you daily.

That video just touched my heart.
Way to go Josie.
We are all still praying for you sweetheart and praying your surgery today is successful.

Any reports give any detail as to why she is having this surgery today and what doctors are hoping to accomplish with it that may better her recovery?

this is a third surgery - I am pretty sure this is an additional one that is indeed taking place today.

Doctors removed part of 15-year-old Josie Ratley's skull after the March 17th attack to help relieve pressure caused by the swelling of her brain. Monday afternoon doctors will perform surgery to repair part of her skull that was damaged in the attack.

Josie's mother and attorney appeared on The Today Show Monday morning. Hilda Gotay described what it was like the day her daughter woke up from her coma.

the one I saw that was obviously reported by someone and then deleted was to teh effect of:

blah blah prayers blah blah easter bunny boo hoo yadda yadda.

Or something equally childish. jerks abound.

I have not seen anywhere that the text was in any way cruel or making fun of him or his brother at all. Has the text been released? The first reports said that Josie was telling him that she did not think he should be involved with the other girl because of her age, IIRC. The text in question may have simply said that Josie thought that he was not yet dealing with his brothers death well and that he was being unkind to the other girl. No LE has said that the text was mean or inappropriate, just that it referred to the brother.

That's incorrect.

I saw one, copied here in case it disappears:

Looks like the perp's family/buddies are doing the same thing as the family/buddies of the South Hadley animals - blaming the victim.

looks like they managed to excuse columbine and virginia tech too :waitasec:

Exactly. I don't care what she texted him either. If he didn't like what she texted, all he had to do is to turn off his cell phone.

A number of articles are already linked on this thread. Here is an example.
"Sheriff Al Lamberti said Ratley sent Treacy a derogatory text message about his brother's recent suicide that "pushed him over the edge.""
http://cbs4.com/local/josie.lou.ratley.2.1641473.html

I have read every article linked on this thread plus several dozen that have not been posted here. While I have seen the term derogatory used, I also know what that word means. The definition is NOT what is being implied by many. It means critical or perceived as disrespectful. There is STILL no proof who sent it, and STILL no justification for attempted murder in response to ANY kind of text message.
