Does not give details but it is in the beginning. But at the end I thought they said DR'S were optimistic. :waitasec: Now its not coming up for me because someone was speaking about the text messages. And they issued the gag order yesterday so IJDK.

there was no jury, no trial - she confessed and pled out. It ended up with a manslaughter conviction.

As for Treacy and murder charges - I truly don't know what to pray for:

For God to make her whole again and survive or for God to take her in his arms. Quality of life means a whole lot to me and if Josie ends up bed-ridden with little in the way of conscienciousness - is that really a life?

BBM

ITA and have long felt that hurting someone that badly might as well be a murder charge....frankly you might as well kill me as leave me paralyzed, cathed, colostomy, trach, etc....

Classmates at Deerfield Beach High School show sympathy for beating suspect

No justification for the assault or the texts that provoked it, say friends of Wayne Treacy

Deerfield Beach Wayne Treacy is a ninth-grader who takes his studies seriously but has a sweet and funny side as well. Last fall, he went through a personal tragedy no one would want to endure, finding his older brother, who had committed suicide, dangling from a tree.

Now the 15-year-old Deerfield Beach High student is in juvenile detention, accused of stomping on a girl's head with his steel-toed boots with such brutal force that a week and a half later, she remains in critical condition in a medically inducted coma. And Treacy's friends are left to struggle with the question: Why?

Treacy is accused of trying to kill Deerfield Beach Middle School student Josie Lou Ratley, 15, after she sent him a series of text messages, at least one of which referred to Treacy's dead brother. Investigators have not released the contents of those messages, other than to say they were "disparaging."

Two of Treacy's friends, Kayla Williams, 14, and Perry Phillips, 15, said there was no justification for the assault on Ratley, but no justification either for the text messages that preceded it, which they believe provoked Treacy. Other friends, who did not want to be named for this article, made similar comments.

"Everyone has buttons that can be pushed," said Williams, who has known Ratley since the beginning of the school year last August. She called him "sweet, funny and nice," but acknowledged that he can sometimes take things "really seriously."

Just when I think I have heard it all. Especially in light of the reality that KM could have sent those texts.

lol - you beat me to it BOZGAL - I just saw this. There is one quote from this article that I wanted to highlight.

Treacy's friends acknowledge he has anger management issues. Phillips said Treacy once stepped away from her to regain his composure after she playfully hit him.

The rest of the article is playing on the sympathy of the community for this 🤬🤬🤬🤬. I ain't buyin' it! There was a reason the judge issued that gag order! I would really like to see the texts - both before and after what he did.

I had an eye appointment and came back to see that Josie has a fever. Patients with head injuries do get fevers, but it is more often related to an infection caused because of being bedridden. When one is bedridden, as is Josie, the normal secretions don't get moved around and excreted from the body, especially the lungs, as it would when one is active. Bedridden patients often get lung infections because of that. I suspect that Josie may have a lung infection, and most likely a chest x-ray was done to assess her lungs.

Also, she has had surgery, which in itself is a source of infection, she has a feeding tube, and an endotracheal tube from her mouth to her lungs, and all three of those things are a source of infection. That she has a fever a week from the initial injury is not uncommon. Someone posted earlier that prayers are for a complete recovery, or for God to take her. I agree wholeheartedly. Somewhere upthread in a post I commented that there are things worse than death. Lying in a vegetative state until death occurs at an undetermined future date, is, IMHO, a fate worse than death. I also agree with the poster who said if Josie cannot make a full recovery ( cognitively) then it may be better if she would pass, then to live with no quality of life. I pray for the same. Sadly, as much as I am prayerful for Josie, I fear her prognosis for a full recovery does not appear promising.

Just speechless here. Prayers for Josie, Justice for Josie and her family.

If they want "gag" orders, then why not gag the friends and buddies of this kid?

I don't want to hear the usual "He is so nice, never thought he would do this" junk

we might as well have that on a tape recorder for every horrible event , it really gets boring, why waste the air time??

Thanks for that info Kat....this is such a horror....hoping against hope that Josie can pull through this intact and whole again....hoping and praying for a miracle for Josie

Josie
We all are still praying for a miracle for you.

:( I don't have a link yet. I just heard this report on Channel 10 - story will eventually show up at www.local10.com

They said the doctors tried to wean her off the drugs - to bring her up out of the coma - - she developed a high fever and they put her back in that coma. She didn't open her eyes. Said her family was there and realized that this is going to be a "marathon".

Prayers for Josie and her family!
