GUILTY FL - Wayne Treacy for savage beating of 15yo girl, Deerfield Beach, 17 March 2010

  • #581
I cant help it, I feel bad for him too. he was plenty old enough to know better and while plenty of kids his age do stupid and self destructive things under stress they arent usually so terrible for another person or so life changing.

before you guys abuse me for having sympathy please keep in mind that I have a child his age that 2 years ago lost his father to suicide. now, mine did things like self harm and stealing and he's sorted himself out but I like to think the ties he has with me and the rest of his family helped him through that. this kid, treacy, had nothing of the sort. I would have yet more sympathy for this kid if it were not for the fact that he did travel a few miles and search around for a girl he had no idea who she even was, that kinda lets the "I didnt mean to even hit her" kinda go right out the window.

maybe he did, maybe he didnt, but he had lots of time to decide. and now he's got even more time to feel sorry for himself and for her.

I just feel so bad for him that he had to terribly wound and nearly kill a girl he didnt even know before his family seemed to even notice something was wrong.

this is not pure evil. this is a severely disturbed 15 year old child.

first, im sorry about your sons dad. :(

your sons reaction is actually typical, and is not a bad thing. the diffrence is he did not put someone in a coma due to his actions. he pretty much kept his destruction to himself personally. many people who experience trauma, whether a relatives suicide or some kind of abuse, would rather hurt themselves then other people.

imo this kid in this case took it to the level of no return. when you take out your problems on someonelse then you get no sympathy, and should get no lienency.

I feel badly for Treacy that his life up to the point of the text exchange had little stability, no real role models that I could see, aside from a suicidal brother whose selfish act put Treacy in a position to find his lifeless body. I feel badly for him that he seems not to have been taught approriate ways to deal with anger.

I feel badly for him BUT I cannot forget that ride home to select those boots. That purposeful ride to the school, texting his intentions all the while.

I hope he gets some serious mental health care while incarcerated. I fear that if imprisoned without it - he will only come out of the system a much more dangerous and damaged person. No good can come of that.

Hey guys- NEW video and it will make you all smile!!!!!

Video released of teen's homecoming

Posted: Today at 5:40 am EDT
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- New video has been released of a beaten teen's long-awaited return home.

The family attorney of 15-year-old Josie Lou Ratley released the four-minute video, Tuesday. The footage showed Ratley celebrating her homecoming, on May 25. The teen laughed as she opened gifts and tried on a pair of sunglasses. Ratley smiled as her mother, Hilda Gotay, applied lip gloss onto her lips.

Awww, you go Josie!

Isn't it a wonderful thing to have the opportunity to see her now opening gifts at home? I've never met her, but my heart just swelled with pride when I saw that video. Thanks to her wonderful mother and the wonderful doctors she has, she is really making strides.

ETA: Sorry, and her own hard work, of course!

On the Today Show this morning, newly disclosed jailhouse tapes of JR's attacker were released.

In this clip, at around timestamp 2:39, JR's attacker is talking to his stepfather about JR and one of the texts that preceded the attack, and the stepfather says something like, "I'm tellin' you, Bro, I got more hatred towards her and her mother than you had the day you did what you did."

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/37775133#37775133

That statement just blew my mind. Anyone else?

I don't know much about this family's dynamics. Can anyone shed some light onto why the stepfather would say such an awful thing? It's like he's totally ignoring what his stepson did to this girl -- as if she started it by her comment about the dead brother. Is that what's at the heart of his statement about having hatred for her and her mom, or did they do something else to further spark his hatred?

The Today show didn't say much in terms of background info to set up the segment, and didn't say much afterwards regarding the stepfather's statement, which I also find bizarre.

The first thing that strikes me is the stepfather calling him "Bro." How inappropriate. As far as what the stepfather said, I am not the least bit surprised. After seeing his attitude in the original interview they did, you can tell what a jerk he is. Yeah, he is really helping his stepson by fanning the flames of hatred. Way to go, loser.

I'm thinking the step-father is the problem. If he can say that to Wayne while he is sitting in jail, there is no telling what he has filled his mind with before. Well she aint giggling now...what adult would say that after the horrific beating of Josie? If he has had that adult as his role model for very long there is no wonder that Wayne is sitting where he is.

Not sure why there is discussion of Josie Ratley on this thread, thought it was for Michael Brewer, but since it's up I've got a question.

Does anyone know what happened to the pray for michael brewer group on face book? It disappeared about 2 months ago... it was the one that his aunts were posting updates on..

I think we've gotten the threads all mixed up.

  • #596
lol, hey, how did the Josie stuff get mixed in with the boy set on fire???

Did someone merge a couple of threads by mistake? I know I have been posting to Josie's thread. I haven't subscribed to the Brewer thread but this is what popped up on my subscription list this afternoon in the Josie thread's place??

I certainly hope this evidence will be used by Josie's Mom to get a Restraining Order, at the very least, against this Step-Freak of Nature! I have read this over and over and still - my mind will not let this in...how scary to know that a grown man has more hatred than the Little Monster had the day he went to kill Josie...sick, scary and surreal that now the wonderful Strong Mother has to worry about this Man Creature that isn't behind bars like his
stepson while she guides Josie back to walking the same streets that this "Man" also walks - and I am quite sure that he is wearing steel-toe boots. :furious:

Thank You for fixing the mix up, Adnoid - YOU are The Best! I am typing this while wearing my Support for Josie handmade bracelet that Josie's friend made for donations made to help her family with their unexpected expenses that never had to be...but now that we have been shown the atmosphere from which the Little Monster came from, I am now feeling the colors of my bracelet...Red for my own Anger and Black as my own Heart is for the Perp and his family.
