He SHOULD get the death penalty for not confessing to the crime and telling the family the details they so desperately want to know, including what he did with the bodies....even if they are unrecoverable. Which I suspect they probably are.

Oh yes, I've seen it many times with cases over the years. And it's way worse up here in Canada. Families are not allowed to say anything inflammatory in their VIS.

That is true that the VIS can introduce error into what the jury hears. And in a DP case, it is critical that it doesn't happen. Because if sentenced to the DP, he's going to get free appeals and DP advocate groups fighting for him for the next 20 years.

I think families should be able to say anything they want to a convicted murderer, not in the presence of the jury, for a specified amount of time. While he/she just has to sit there quietly and take it in. That might help families deal with their anger.
