Finally VSCO is asking for the public's help with regard to the cars that night, etc. About time, imo.

https://www.facebook.com/VolusiaCountySheriff?hc_location=stream

This all should have been done within the first 24-48 hours. LE should have been holding regular press conferences to keep the story in the news and fresh on people's minds. To involve the community and make them want to rack their brains thinking of anything they may have noticed that night. To ask the community to check all wooded areas around their homes and to watch for unusual predator bird activity. To ask anyone who was out driving around that night to think about the cars they saw on the road. Anything unusual like a car going off into the direction of a deserted area in the middle of the night. A car pulled over. Anything.

They should also have been requesting all homeowners and businesses to look at and hold all video surveillance that may have been recorded in the areas in question that night. Ask them to check it for images of the car he was using and contact them if they thought they may have caught an image of something. Most surveillance video is digital now and even small businesses and homes can hold their video because it's likely recorded onto an SD card. Just asking people to hold the video and not reuse the cards until LE had a chance to check them might have been a good idea.

Why none of this was done I don't know. I know that putting a high priority on cases of adult domestic violence is not common but there are two small children involved in this one and so that should have prompted LE to get on everything very quickly. Perhaps VCSO wasn't prepared for this type of situation? All LE departments better start looking at their procedures regarding missing people and getting a better start on these cases. This "catching up" is just not going to work IMO. And another criminal will likely benefit from their actions (or inactions) at the start of this investigation.

We are seeing a trend where the public is using social media sites to assist in finding missing persons. The biggest problem to me is it seems like it is done too late and all the formats are different. It would be nice if there was a publicly accepted format for the basic needed information about a case. The public would have to be the ones to adopt and favor a particular format. Some sort of nice simple and eye appealing format to get all the critical information out ASAP.

Luckily I have never been in this situation, but if I ever have a missing family member, I would immediately create the basic info like the Who, Picture, What, Where, How, Why, etc. in a nice simple format, and then get it out there on as many social media sites as possible. And of course, WS would be one of the first places I would go.

The public is more or less already doing this today, but I believe it is just not early enough or organized enough. I think we will get there someday, hopefully soon. It should always be viewed as an extra tool that is helping LE efforts.

I would love to see the day where this is the very first thing someone does in this situation, after notifying LE and filing a missing persons report of course.

Yessenia, Thalia and Michael, people are looking for you and justice is coming to the monster who took you away.

I think I understand what he's trying to say. It appears that he's saying that because Lake Mary LE were called in to handle the arrest for an incident that happened in their jurisdiction, that this was illegal. He should have been arrested by the officers in the jurisdiction in which he was caught (Volusia) and then turned over to Lake Mary LE. But they did it the other way around. They called in Lake Mary LE to make the arrest (outside their jurisdiction) and then they handed him over to VCSO.

If this does become a sticking point, his confession could be thrown out. But they still have the other blood and disposed items evidence as well as the neighbour's testimony so it shouldn't make a difference. His "confession" isn't worth much anyway since IMO it was one big lie to try to downplay what happened and shoot for a 2nd degree or manslaughter charge.

I may be confused. Wasn't VCSO just arresting him for a crime in their jurisdiction? The thing is, if Lake Mary already had a warrant out for the murder charge, then VCSO was obligated to let them know, and Lake Mary had every right to come and take custody of him. It's done all the time.
Murder takes precedence over lesser crimes, so VCSO could not legally hold him, they had no choice but to turn him over.

I have no idea why he is bringing up that "citizen's arrest" thing... even if LE is sent outside their own jurisdiction to take custody of a prisoner, they are still LE and on police business, they're not just a citizen. And they still do a formal arrest, just to make it legal.

No, Lake Mary had a warrant out for a battery charge--LT slapping his wife. VSCO arrested him and was holding him for Lake Mary to pick up, then VSCO charged him with 2nd degree murder.

Well I think they need to let TES come in and do their thing! Jmo

Texas Equusearch joins search for Deltona mom, kids

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-equusearch-team-search-deltona-mom-20131106,0,4538943.story

The organization is helping the Volusia County Sheriff's Office personnel to check locations around Deltona that Suarez's family has indicated as possible locations for their loved ones' remains, said sheriff's office spokesman Gary Davidson.

They are also working to identify additional search areas.

and

Equusearch will bring between 30 to 40 searchers this weekend, including some on horseback, Davidson said.

On Monday or Tuesday, I saw two things that I thought might be related to a search by private individuals. First, I saw three people on horseback riding down a sidewalk on Courtland. I also saw a guy on a four-wheeler. He drove right past my house and then went onto Fort Smith Boulevard. But he may have been taking a test drive. I also decided to drive behind the old Winn Dixie store on Doyle Road. I didn't get out of the car, though. I wonder how many other abandoned buildings there are that might need to be checked.

Well it appears according to his lawyer that didn't exactly happen either. That's what should have happened. I believe the lawyer is saying that VCSO did not arrest him in their jurisdiction, they held him for Lake Mary LE to arrive and then allowed them to arrest him, outside their jurisdiction. Which is not the way it's supposed to be done according to the public defender. They have no authority outside their jurisdiction to be arresting anyone. VSCO should have been the arresting agency since he was in their jurisdiction when the charge was laid. They then should have turned him over to Lake Mary LE. And as you've pointed out What'sThatClue, the charge was for battery from a previous incident in Lake Mary. His original arrest had nothing to do with his wife and children being missing.

So the public defender is saying that VCSO should not have had him in custody and therefore his interrogation and statements should not be allowed in as evidence. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Does anyone know if TES searches landfills? Something tells me this is a strong possibility in this case.

And I assume that Tim Miller is not coming to FL? It will be his local volunteers that head up the search?

It must be heartbreaking for her family knowing that they are dead and that he can continue to torture them by not telling anyone where to find the bodies. How disgusting is he? I hope the family are found soon, so that her parents and the rest of the extended family can finally get peace.

I dont know if they do, but I agree that landfill is a possible place.

I thought for sure they would find these people by now because this guy does not appear to have spent much time at all and he sure doesnt seem to be a very cunning criminal.

To me, it seems like the simplest approach would be the way he would go. That is why I keep thinking he just dumped in water or dumped just off a roadway or like you mentioned just dumped in a dumpster that went to landfill.

Landfill searches sound like very difficult types of searches because everything in a landfill kind of blends together. It would take quite an effort, but I do agree it would be worth trying. LE should have at least tried that if they have not by now.

Deltona mom’s employer tried to hire Volusia deputy night of disappearance

http://www.news-journalonline.com/article/20131107/NEWS/131109547?p=3&tc=pg

Interesting new information in that article. LT was at Yessenia's mother's house where she had gone with the children after work and school I suppose. He apologized and sat down for dinner with her and the kids along with at least her mother I presume. He told her he was not going to hurt her or the children. What an odd thing to say. Had he threatened the children before as well? The uncle says LT had threatened Yessenia before. Threatened her with what? Was he just trying to lure the family back home for a reason?

They went home at 8pm, all of them including LT. At 11pm, Yessenia was talking with a co-worker on the phone and LT was not home. At 12:49am she was talking with the boyfriend/co-worker and LT was home.

So he told LE that he got home around 10pm (apparently a lie? Why?) and went out around 11pm for an hour. Where did he go? I believe he said he was just driving around? Doing what? Looking for a disposal spot? Getting an untraceable weapon like a gun? Or did he already have one of those?

This is some odd behaviour on his part that is starting to make it look more and more like a pre-planned murder of all three of them IMO. He was home at 8pm, no argument. He was back home around 12am according to him, no argument. Now I do understand that the phone call to the boyfriend/co worker could have certainly started one at 1am but why kill the children? Because they witnessed it? Possible. Or was his plan to wait until all three of them were in bed asleep to murder them. There was blood in the house. Not a huge amount but enough that even though he tried to clean it, it was obvious to LE during the wellness check that areas had been cleaned. Doesn't sound like stabbing, there would be a lot of blood I would think. Doubtful it was a blow to the throat. And how were the children killed? Gunshots? In their sleep? So what did he stand to gain by killing all three of them? Is there mortgage insurance on the house? Life insurance on Yessenia and/or the children? She was divorcing him. The house and vehicles were in her name only. The children were not his. He had everything to lose in a divorce. That had to infuriate him.

Just some questions I have to try to make sense out of this. I understand the possibility of killing the wife during an argument over another man, especially when you've grown up in a gang culture. I just can't understand the children. Unless he panicked because they came into the room and saw everthing. Takes a pretty cold person to then decide to kill children to cover for themselves. But maybe he did. I hope LE can sort this out because I sure want to see him face 3 counts of first degree even if they are never able to find Yessenia and her children. :(
